FreeCAD - Finally found MOVE WITH SNAPPING!
After months of struggling with this dumb transform system, I finally found a way to #$^%#$ move a part with ability to snap to other objects!
I am unsure if this works for all possible parts and in all situations, but this is a part made by extruding a sketch in PART workbench and I was able to snap it to another part that was created in PART.
A GLORIOUS DAY INDEED!
Yes, at 0:43 it was pure rage.

Salvaging panel from broken oven
Переглядів 436 місяців тому
Recently, I encountered a broken oven. Out of boredom, I removed the front panel from it and realized, I could turn it into simple LCD clock. Designed a simple case in freecad (pretty boring part, sorry), printed it on my printer, soldered USB connector AND two big capacitors, bit of hot glue and done. Supercapacitors allow for around 0.5h of runtime. Enough to move the clock into another room ...

LXQT Start menu borked on dual monitor setup
Переглядів 1029 місяців тому
A minor problem with how the main menu (and other widgets) behave on system with two monitors and different resolutions. The workaround is quick, if you can live with different alignment of the monitors. Unless there is some magic trick, or I am doing something very wrong - then I missed the info and tried to come up with own solution. This happened to me on voidlinux running lxqt GUI, but I su...

Homemade Arduboy - it is alive!
Переглядів 525Рік тому
Hello there, here's the result of 2 months of my free time. I designed my own PCB and adapted the original schematic to my needs, hand soldered the parts (I even tried soldering 0603 parts this time!), flashed the software and here it is - a working ARDUBOY! I did encounter a lot of problems along the way. Biggest one was being unable to flash the atmega32u4 with my USBASP (tried two of them) o...
Pixel-Star is working! Simple animation test on WS2813 board
Переглядів 51Рік тому
Here's my PCB project - Pixel Star! It's a simple STM32-based board with addressable RGB LEDs. I've been trying to get it work last few days, finally got the software working reliably, and fixed some hardware problems on the way too. But, as you can see - it is finally there! It works! For now I only programmed a very simple sequence, but the possibilities are limitless now that we have it work...

Preassembling Necroware Gameport Adapter

I finally have all the parts to build the gameport adapter! Or do I? I found the hard way that the pro micro boards with miniUSB are wider than the microUSB and USB-C counterparts. Now I need to wait few weeks for the new arduino board. In the meantime I am checking if rest of the parts fit properly on the PCB Check out the project github website and build your own: github.com/necroware/gamepor...
First run with E3D V6 hotend on Biqu B1
Переглядів 871Рік тому
I replaced hotend on my Biqu B1. New mount couldn't be used with original plate so new holes had to be drilled. Had to put the hotend fan outside the cage - hope that it wont cause me any problems. A fan duct also couldn't be used due to height difference. I already did PID autotune for hotend and MBL (apparently not well enough since nozzle scratches the bed in the beginning - had to baby step...

    I have the same joystick and am trying to get it to work, what DIP PIN setting do you use?

    • @softwarepole
      @softwarepole Рік тому

      I dont remember, I tried them all and none worked fully, but in one of the setting most of the features worked - both axis, hat, few buttons. The scroll wheels for throttle and rudder didnt worked if I remember correctly. I guess a support needs to be added in software. I saw there is a driver in linux kernel, so it might be a good start for someone who understands it.

      Oof, it's quite a bit since I fiddled with it. If I recall correctly, I didn't have to do anything fancy - it just worked right away. Maybe some newer update broke something? You are sure the display is not broken/works?

  • @softwarepole
    @softwarepole Рік тому

    Update: unfortunately due to fan placement it wasn't working very reliably - got many clogs due to heat creep. I decided to get a bimetal heatbreak for the original hotend - this seems to be a better idea and for now it works without problems.

    How did you install it on there? I'm upgrading with the same hot end

    • @softwarepole
      @softwarepole Рік тому

      Check the link in description. You need to print a holder for the hotend, you need to drill the metal bracket and you need to connect the heater and sensor. I took the v6 heatsink and heatbrake and mounted to the heaterblock from biqu, securing with v6 nozzle. Unfortunately it didn't worked that well, I got few clogs - I thinkt hat due to the fan position there is a high heat creep risk. So you need to rethink how to mount the hotend fan. Also consider using e3d v6 block, hopefully the sensor and cartridge from biqu fit there. It is still work in progress and I lack free time to finish it.

    It's astonishing, that those modern games still understand the ancient technology. Or did you setup a modern button layout on the MCU and mapped it to specific buttons/axes of this particular joystick?

    • @softwarepole
      @softwarepole Рік тому

      Nothing ancient about it, it comes from early 2000s. The heart of the system is arduino pro micro with Atmega32u4 - it has usb controller on board. And arduino offers standard usb hid library, so it is recognized in windows and linux as usb joystick. The gameport itself also has a standard pinout - at least for first two analog axises and few buttons. Rest runs via propietary digital protocol (each manufacturer made his own back in the days) - this isn't implemented yet for this joystick. Sad fact though - most android games dont support controllers even when they are natively supported by android itself.

      Same behavior on 3.1.2 on other machine. And no, it's not "eh it's just snapping to the closest" - you can see that in some situations it works properly - aka, if I want to snap along axis, then only dimensions/distance along that axis should be taken into consideration. Otherwise it is useless function.
