Woodland Mills Tooth Setter / Sawblade Sharpener Off-Grid Homestead
Living Off Grid, building a self-sufficient life requires the ability to be self-contained. We assemble the most recently received packages and run the Sawmill Blade Sharpener. These two assets are going to save us money. No more long trips or taking the time to load and deliver/pick up Saw Blades to the sharpening company. Living independently in the bush we are constantly looking for ways to be self-reliant and keep expenses to a minimum. Will we save money and time?

"Solutions" packages Woodland Mills Tooth Setter & Blade Sharpener

The sawmill is consuming bandsaw blades. Between the debris on & in the logs we need a solution to keep the cost down. Living off grid in the wilderness we need to keep costs down. We reach out, in a short time we receive two packages. We open and give an initial review.

We finalize the Bird sanctuary. In the process damaging our solar array wiring with the skid steer hole auger. Knowing that the post hole was close we chanced it & luck ran out. Causing us to repair a 600-volt wire and water line. The food forest gives up a single pear, the rest went to the forest gods. That pear was huge and delicious. After two days we get back on track, complete the fence an...
Destroyed? - Hitting it Hard Off-Grid Homestead

A hard day ended in defeat? We investigate what caused two of our sawmill blades to go dull stopping us in our tracks. These blades are not cheap, costing $28.00 a piece. At this pace we will be Off Grid Homesteading in the rough and broke. How do we overcome our dilemma. Will this lead to our failure? or Do we rise up and overcome yet another obstacle?

When it rains it pours? Or does it? Big trouble on the small sawmill. We get to the final timber for this series of scarfed beam. The mill mysteriously jumps a band and without any signs the second blade immediately goes dull. We drag on only to stop before it gets worse.

Day 3 - removing fire danger while collecting our firewood. With one way in and one way out, from the Off-Grid Homestead, we tackle the issue head on. The expert like to blame the increase of forest fires on global warming but is that the truth. Is the truth really the fault of modern society. Did people truly cause the issue? What does a forest need to burn? Does the modern forest contain more...

After arriving late in the year, we survived one winter on the Off-Grid Homestead. We pushed through, with raw land and no outside influence we create a sustainable Off-Grid life. We have loose ends to contend with. The skid steer with miscellaneous attachments gets the job done. At the end we still have much much more which requires completion.

      Today picked up a load of repurposed tung and groove lumber. When we got back the goats were in the garden & bird habitat. Ate all the cracked corn in the bird coop and stripped every leave from the cherry, pear and apple trees. All I can say is lucky the gun was not loaded.

      Yes, you have to read thoroughly. Most important is reading ahead. The dam instructions tell you to do something and then there is a side note or a below note such as do not tighten. If you ask me the instructions are half a step above terrible. Watch the next video. Most of the footage ended up on the cutting room or should I say mill deck floor.

    My worst nightmare before I bought my batteries is this video. I would have had that battery airborne out the door in 26 secs. I bought 48kw $9600usd of Xterra lead carbon AGM, can charge/discharge at 190A to 0% short life or 3200@ 50%, sealed, -30c, no heaters, no bms, no equalize needed, cannot thermal runaway, nothing to fail, failures rare, mostly caused by drop damage then they are just weak and easily detected on install, good batteries just degrade, I have 16 years left with my cycles. Any battery that needs a fire arrestor is not truly safe, fire dept doesn't even try to extinguish lithium fires.

  • @bobmonztr
    @bobmonztr 26 днів тому

    I know a bit about solar problems, My 1st inverter, unknown to me for 6 months was only charging my batteries to 60%, after 2 months I expanded to 48kw, Xmas eve inverter wont charge more than 3A, or 13 days to charge yikes! My solar guy helped me get it to charge again next day on further diagnosis we found out the low SOC of 55%(using lead carbon batteries no bms on lead acid settings but lead acid full charge is 5v higher) , The second inverter was installed and I put 5.4kw of gen into it ,then it worked fine with no gen since install but had another issue where the pv display would falsely add in full overcast 300w to pv 1 and 400w to pv2 leaving pv 3 with a pv watts 400 less than pv2, I thought pv3 had a fault, solar guru shows up and we find no faults in pv3, eventually we agreed this inverter was a bit faulty, he drove 17 hr round trip to upgrade and install a larger inverter. It looks like I can only get 1400w in full overcast and close to 14kw with snow. I search off grid almost every day for months I do not think I have seen your channel; I can type exact titles of my videos and never get a result. My 183k to retire vid has my 100% AC build, I survive at -30c with a 350w 8.6kwh a day electric heater in a 28ft 5th wheel. I do add 40mins a day with the 1500w 1kwh.
