How To Denib & Polish Your Paint Work
Can tell you've been spraying for a long time. Nice work
Hi, im trying to paint on a galvanised steel, but i need the result to be 100% with no refelctive light (or 100% non gloss). Any tips which paint & how i should paint? Can i use the etch primer on galvanised steel?
hi mate u can add 10% hardener to your basecoat and it will dry matte . it wont be as durable as clear coating it but still fairly durable . for galv steel youll need to sand the galv off then either etch and paint or epoxy and paint the choice is yours . epoxy is safer regarding rust is considered
@@BogDustForBreakfast ok thank you so much, i will try that. what about the colour paint? i tried duco matte/doff, it becomes smooth satin surface result & still has a reflective under lighting. any advice of colour paint beside duco for galvanised steel?
@@josephtan3922 can’t say I’ve ever needed to worry about a low sheen color . Can’t really help I’m affraid
@@BogDustForBreakfast no worries. thank you so much
Beautiful great work Nice music
Good advice mate Thank you From usa
Ok with your fan open that much doesn't it cause overspray?
@@Shawn-p8w in a down draft booth ? No . You want paint to atomise out of a spray gun . When painting metallics or sfx colors this will help getting it even
@BogDustForBreakfast ok what about if you don't have a booth. Just a garage with vent fans?
@@Shawn-p8w having a open fan is perfectly fine mate . Just tack rag before you clear it . You’re always gonna get overspray when spraying in a shed . Best thing to do is keep fans running and remove all color overspray from the shed before you clear and all clear over spray before you turn the fans off when you’ve finished painting
Great effect. Would look good with a decal then remove it. Judging by the lines. Great job.
I’ve done this on aluminum. I used Bulldog on it first but I wonder how well a clear UV primer would work? But IV primer is costly
Beautiful colour
Would a flattening of the clear at the black base stage and a flow coat be beneficial? Even with an anti static gun there always that rogue piece of crap in my black paint jobs. The parts I need to paint are fiberglass, so no bake cycles at any stage of the process. Also in regards to handling, will gloves still leave marks? I couldn’t see what the outcome of your thumb print was Thanks
@@IratusAngelus621 hi mate you could flow coat the the black if you needed too . Providing you don’t sand or touch the flow coat it doesn’t make any difference really . As for not baking the fibreglass I see the positives regarding possible pinholes happening after a bake but the cure time of the black would be extended quite a lot and could potentially fry the chrome on application or cause other issues due to applying chrome to a non cured surface . I’d advise against doing it if you’re not baking . Another way around the pinholes would be to bake the fibreglass before doing any filler work priming or painting . This way if it was to pinhole you would have time to fix them before paint . If you simply don’t have access to baking in general then I’d be leaving the black for a couple of weeks before applying the chrome . But again that might not be viable either. Good luck
@@BogDustForBreakfast Hey thanks for the prompt reply. So this item is a one of one for an art installation . I’ve given it a hearty bake initially before a fill prime but I’m still not keen on giving it a bake between each step though, knowing my luck it’ll blow out or delaminate on me. Lol,. Blacks have always been a sht magnet, so if I need to reclear it I’ll go down that track and give it a low temp slow bake after each step. The process steps aren’t so much of a concern but my tip size set up is , I do have an Ego190 but only in a 1.2 and am concerned about it looking overly grainy. Any tips regarding this would be much appreciated Thanks
@@IratusAngelus621 you can paint VC with a 1.2mm recommendation is 0.7-1.2mm . Still wind the needle out 1/4 turn . If anything extend the distance you spray at so the paint is misted on .
whats your grind disc grit? Try beveling edges by taping them off and using a 5000 grit and pull lines in one direction, angled at a 45 from your taped edges, you can get amazing results
@@joosisleet2820 was scotchbrite disc

The oils and water that came out of that blower at 8:21 just negated all your work, worse, if you try and paint anything with that airline you will get humidity blisters at some point down the track in all your painted work. I always use an air dryer and a toilet roll filter on my airlines.
thanks for ur imput. im sure u have never done anything in a rush before and forgot to connect something. i normally have a roll filter and airline connected to a water and oil trap . problems you face driving to help people. bless your heart for commenting im sure you do everything perfect every time. please watch another video and leave me a negitive comment which makes me feel even better about making over 100 videos helping people for nothing in return .

I hope to paint my new project Mustang 1967, I haven’t painted a car for last 25 years 😂 hope I get it right and don’t mess it up ..these days I hear they use water based paints oppose to the 2k system we used or even the good old cellulose 😂. Makes me bit nervous 🙏🏾😀
@@MrMagsimus probably best to use solvent over water if your not familiar with water . Both are as easy as each other but totally different
That’s a beautiful colour and a beautiful job the way you applied those coats ❤🇬🇧👌

How can I order this. i need to put this on my car asap! went to website couldnt find the checkout for this color im in the US
@@JulianThomas-n2c hi mate . You’ll need to email dna with genuine interest . Shipping of dangerous goods from Australia has a seperate fee as paint is flammable . Depending on the quantity your ordering dna may cover the cost of the dangerous goods . That’s something you can discuss with them . If you’re ordering only a few spray cans or a couple of litres then the shipping fee will likely be $1000aus / $500usd or something similar .
Gorgeous.. beautiful job

Before you spot weld the top cowl you should have had the front doors on to line it up
@@springchecking427 only one door was off . Checked to the other door . Cowl is in the same location as the old cowl . But you’re 100% correct mate . As for the bonnet , it’s having a glass bonnet with no lines .
@@springchecking427 added note . The cowl panel was a direct fit . There was no way it could have been too far on one side than the other . Only adjustment room was front and back which i lined up perfectly to the old location
Very nice work , just doing top cowl panel at the moment, did you weld under the windscreen where it joins the bottom cowl was thinking you could glue that part as seems a shame to drill holes to plug weld it there.
@@shanedegilio7671 I did mate . They were tricky to get to from underneath so I welded from the top .
You a hole punch tool saves drilling all those holes
@@NZMOPAR the hole punch mark would likely get filled in with epoxy and hs primer though
Hi, would like your thoughts on leaving the black paint on the repair panels, in the past I have completely removed it all and repaint. but in the past whatever it was painted with wasn't that good. cheers, and great work by the way.
Hi mate . There is nothing wrong with leaving the factory ecoat on the inside . If it’s not visible or if the insides are going black then it all blends in and it’s no problem
Nice work mate, it certainly is fiddly unpicking all those spot welds but satisfying when you see the end result.
It really is! Having a air chisel makes the process easier but still time consuming
Nice work mate, keeping me inspired for my WB.
Glad to hear it! Thanks for watching
I do the same thing with the plug welds i use the spot weld drill bit i like the factory look
Best idea
I'm not sure what a plenum chamber is for. It was originally designed for air pressure equalisation but seems to be just a place to put the wiper motor in the HQ. Anyone know?
I think it provides positive pressure for ventilation into the cabin, these old cars you would open the vents and you didn't need the fan to force the air in, there was a decent amount of airflow just from the vents due to the pressure from the plenum chamber. The dams were there to prevent any water getting into the cabin which was drained at each end. Typically the drains block up with leaves and crap and the water sits there and it rusts.
@@fredflintstone245 okay, that makes sense. cheers & thanks.

I noticed you didn’t put epoxy primer back over the body filler and you just went with HS primer over body filler. Is that okay to do? I’m in the same situation. Do I need to shoot epoxy over the body filler again?
On one small little area of filler on that fender ? And the budget of that bike ? Nah . You could do it you wanted . Over large areas definitely.
Can you paint mine ?

Looks beautiful,BUT does the chrome look any different to a Silver base. Comments plse
@@llewvirtue861 yes it’s like a candy over a mirror . Silver base it will sparkle a little . Over chrome it’s more vibrant and reflective
Epoxy has no etching properties, mechanical surface profile is epoxies requirement. Data sheets tell you this no question about it.
@@bena6852it really depends on the epoxy if I was honest . Some tds for epoxy says to etch then epoxy . Some don’t
