Try getting a high flow air fitting for that Matco impact. It makes a noticeable difference and you might use it more in tight areas.

I told our new Snap On rep(first one I’ve had since I started in the automotive/diesel industry) that I’m a sucker for Hi-Viz. they’re great. That’s about the only color I’m buying from him. So now he keeps it on his trucks lol. But as far as the Matco Products. I own multiple Matco Products. I enjoy them. But step up from Pittsburgh and harbor freight tools. I haven’t gotten to far into Snap on. My Matco rep has built good trust with me. Our snap in to is still so new I don’t wanna dive into the deep end just yet. I guess it depends on what side of the industry you’re one. For auto and diesel vehicles Matco has a lot to offer. Snap seems more versatile between Industries so they might work better for Marine work. But love the box! Can’t wait to see more
@@CalebLee-cl6ku this is dead on, the Matco truck has a lot of specialty tools for automotive. I could see them being the go to. That hi-viz is so sweeet. I just can’t help myself when I see it haha

Like the vlogs. Always good so see what you have going on. Cant wait for the updated toolbox tour!
@maverickmisenko7234 updated tool box tour coming this week!! Thanks for the feedback!!
Definely need the toolbox tours. As a marine mechanic I love to see what everyone else uses.
We will jump on it! Thank you for the feedback
Everyone Blake is the man if you’re looking for a great boat mechanic Public Water Marine is the place to go!!
Thanks Kevin, you da man for the local fishing videos!
How is this set up holding up? I have the same motor and about to install a livescope.
I have since then done the same thing to 3 other boats. All 3 are still in good shape. The cornfield crappie kit for this set up is the way to go. It's worth the extra money.
I love your work but why put wood back in?
cost
i love old aluminum boats
i miss this one!
It's made by snap on, but it broke or I don't really like it. Lol. Stay away from the tool truck, especially if you are new. Overpriced and they break, sink and get lost just like the rest.
I can agree to an extent, you get what you pay for. Tool trucks in general you're paying for the service. Not having to ship something out or drive to the store every time a tool breaks is worth the extra money! If you're just starting out harbor freight and amazon is the way to go!
Where did you get the larger diameter coiled hose? My Helix 5 has a plug that will barely fit through 5/8" inside diameter. I've got it all mounted up and wired except for the hose. Any help is appreciated.
I got it off amazon, cornfield crappie sells it and i highly recommend getting it from them. Looks a lot cleaner and takes the pain out of having to cut it yourself.
What brand compression tester do you use?
Snap-on Compression gauge, started with a harbor freight one... I sold the dealership two engines before they realized I was using a harbor freight compression gauge. My boss at the time threw it in the garbage in front of me and guided me to the snap-on truck...I have been broke ever since lol
I want mine like this can you build it for me?
Yes Sir!
What about fishing outside in the rain? Bottom on the cooler is going to load up with water
you are 100% correct. I'm sure you can drill some holes in the bottom... the unit, battery, and black box can all get wet without being damaged.
Å
Do you have other videos of working on Crestliners? Or more from this job you could please share with me? It looks like you may have more clips? Also.. how did you remove the two top back corners? Cut them out? Re weld?
I do not have any more video footage of the job, i did not have to cut any of the boat to do the job. You will have to remove some of the foam to get to the hidden nuts/bolts.
What is the size of the box? Cooler?
When you were testing the engine you were able to rev it in the ice chest without it going into gear
yes sir!
So can I ask you, how did you bypass the gear linkage on your throttle
Hey Kirk, I believe we had the prop off in this video. I do know most of these models have a throttle only button on the side of the engine beside the shifter.
well this is the 3rd video of transom repair where i was told it is a pain in the butt, you actually made it look not too bad thanks for the work and tips
I was actually intimidated to start this one, it is actually a lot easier than I originally thought it would be. I'm sure it's not done to industry standards, but this transom is still solid and just left the shop a few weeks ago.
@@blakerease i did mine a few months ago the bolts were a pain and i wish i had soaked it in epoxy but working great
These things are high powered! I use them for trimming tree limbs and unwanted saplings. They kick like hell so you better have a good stance.
this gave me a good laugh, very accurate description of the loads.
Dude, we got a crestliner commander. I’ve seen a lot of crestliner transom replace videos on UA-cam. I’m scared now. Hopefully mines doesn’t rot anytime soon. Boats barely used, we are second owner and first owner barely used it, I checked the wood from underneath the bilge area before buying and wood looks good, but who knows about the middle. I rocked the engine like crazy and no give, so we bought the boat, but these videos for me scared now. 😢😢
If the boat is stored inside, you shouldn't have any issues. The Crestliners I have seen with transom issues are usually kept outside or have holes in the transom that are not sealed properly causing water to get into wood over time leading to a rotten transom.
Hey man I need something similar done to my crest liner. How much would you charge to do it? Mine is a crest liner 2050 sport fish. I’m 2 hours from you but I could make the drive.
We are officially starting to get caught up with projects at the shop if you wanted to get yours done.
How did you reinforce for the transom
We tied the transom into the side walls and the stringers. Used a very thick piece of aluminum to thru bolt pontoon transom on.
What plywood and thickness did you end up using? About to do this on a fish hawk
I do not remember the size of the plywood; we used marine grade plywood. wish i would have written it in the description when it was fresh on my mind!
😂😂😂 the 1/4 snap on set. I started my apprenticeship in this trade and everyone swears by it
Its hard to loose tools when they cost that much hahaha. I hope you stay in the industry we need more good techs to learn the trade!
For edges first thing you want to do is round your corners. Fiberglass does not like 90 degree angles. 2ndly i wouldve gone csm/knytex (1708) alternating, and finish with csm ripped on edges for a nice feather in/minimal sanding. Also dont mix glass too too hot because itll make the resin way too brittle and be more prone to cracking
I learned more from you comment then i did in every video I watched on how to do it! thank you for taking the time to give me feedback, means a lot!
@Public Water Marine no worries. I havent been doing big glassing stuff over the years until now, on my own boat. Done all sorts of stuff with fiberglass though. The chopstrand base/first layer has the best wetout/cling. So i always start with csm, usually 1.5oz since the .75 oz is like tissue paper thin almost. I think ill hand rip down the .75 and use it for first tabbing layer. My preference no matter what is start and finish with chop strand. Ive experimented with 1708 as a base bond on a flat surface, but the csm binds better initially. My goto is always start and finish with chopstrand. As i stated with the ripped of the chopstrand, it feathers in amazingly well so that your sanding work is minimal.
@@etothelij Doing a small glass job at the shop now. I will deff be taking your advice! you had me at minimal sanding!
I just take the glove box out and you can reach right in. Good video
Next time it comes in for a service i will check to see what's involved to do it that way! always looking for easier hacks!

What's the speed pf this quad?
I believe it was around 25-28 mph. They don't make kids four-wheeler's like that anymore!
Where did you get the shocks from?
I got the shocks out of my Donavan book.
Ummm no. Zero diag tools, impact driver or even a drill.
I will do an updated video soon with some diag tools and impact drivers.
Interesting stuff. I don’t do much of this so cool too get some insight 👏
This was my first transom job, learned a lot! Hope your staying warm! Summer time is creeping up!!!

What do you charge for this setup?
If you provided the parts less than $200
Do more stuff bro. Can you do like transmissions engines I need to learn some stuff about boat mechanics fast and you’re the only one on UA-cam doing stuff like this
Thank you for the positive feedback, i will start doing more mechanic videos to see how they do. I do not work on inboards unfortunately
Do you still have the boat? How has the welded transom hold up? Great video.
I sold the boat but the transom did really well, would go the same route if i was to do another build! thank you for the positive feedback Brett!
