    Whoa, making holsters for a 1911 for a 5", 4.25" or 4" from a 5" 1911 blue gun can be done, but, the holster, especially Kodex, will not fit correctly if your making the holster for a 4". It will rattle because the slide profile is different between the 5" and the 4". Now I suspect the same would be true for a 4.25" but I'm not sure as I haven't made a holster for a 4.25" as of yet. And I know this is to be true because I have a 4" and run into the problem when I first made a holster for it using a 5" to mold the holster. And a Blue gun for a 4" is near impossible to find, or at least I haven't been able to find one as of yet.

    • @EDCLeather
      @EDCLeather 2 місяці тому

      None of these videos are for a kydex holster, but in the last couple of thousand 1911 s we have build, the government specification of a 1911 has never changed.

    • @kathyscowboy
      @kathyscowboy 2 місяці тому

      I'm adding to my previous comment. I finally lucked onto a "dummy" gun for a 4". It's a replica of a Kimber 4", and the Kimber, to my knowledge, are all designed after the 1911 frame. Come to find out the reason I had so much trouble finding a 4" "dummy" is because apparently Kimber went to court to put a stop to anyone copying (making replicas) of their firearms. I got lucky and found someone who had a couple that were left over from the last batch that was made before the ban on making them.
