Exactly the same as you said... I have an S2400 as well and a friend has an SP-1200. We test them both and they sound the same.

Fake 12-bit. It’s a 24-bit native machine with 12-bit emulation. There isn’t a 12-bit DAC chip in the S2400. You all got boned on that thing lol.

The s2400 is more muddy not same

If he had swapped the audio, so when he hits the isla, it’s actually playing the 1200 sample and visa versa, It would be fun to see the comments of all the people who think they’re hearing this big difference

Sp-1200 is clicky. Always hated clicky pads 😂. Good shit though

The Isla doesn’t have a 12-bit DAC. And if it does then prove it. The Rossum has more ring mod and sounds warmer. Nobody can hear because you all lift samples off other people’s records and then call it your own. But there is a sound difference. The Rossum is real 12-bit.

Newly subbed, you just sold me an Isla S2400 with this comparison and thank you! A few of my favorite beatmakers on you tube use that unit and I was on the fence about getting one vs flipping 4k on an SP12. s2000 has less ring in the high frequencies, and I can hear it from the speaker of my phone 😂

But once you mix it and master it its gone anyway

They sound similar but not the same. I hear the difference the Rossum has little more shine than the sp2400. But they both sound real good. They both smack.

Difference is clear as day. But for me it´s not the engine thats the fault with Isla. Its the rest. It doesn´t share the workflow nor sequencer. Maschine is a cheaper and better option if you just want emulation of engine.

To me things like this come down to the human not the kit. Get me a top quality producer and they will sound better on a bontempi than a por producer in a 6 trillion pound studio. These bits of kit are close enough. Im not gonna empty a rave because someone used the Isla. Much like I own a 909 and an 808 for that matter. Seriously get a good producer with a behrninger clone and id rather hear that than a fool with an original (like me haha)

Worst type of sample. No high end, therefore you can't hear the aliasing at all. You must be getting paid by Isla or you have no clue what you're doing

What I really need to hear is an identical drum sequence ( kick snare hat at 54% swing ) in comparison on both machines side by side. I mean, I really want to buy an S2400, but the videos online are not convincing me that it's as tight as the SP1200 which is everything really ( and I really want to be proved wrong here )

Im glad you gave clarity on that cause i was gonna get the high price Rossum but the Isla makes more sense plus its cheaper with more features.

Let me ask you this brother. Would you buy the ISLA first before the Rossum? Now i currently have the old Sp but the floppy drive is bad and ive gotten so use to my Maschine 8 seconds doesnt do it for me anymore . So if you were me which would you buy first the ISlA or Rossum. The Rossum is overpriced my opinion

These tests just show you how manny people dont have a clue and if you blindfold them they are allways wrong. You cant hear anny difference because there is none. Same in mpc community so weird

Rossum has more air from what I’m hearing

S2400 is in the same league as all the classics. It's so close sonically it's not worth worrying about and I own a S950 and have owned a MPC3000. Do yourself a favour and get the 2400 while it's new and cheap. Don't believe the cork sniffers, they're gatekeeping because they paid top whack for their SP✌️

Man, alot of misinformation on the S2400. I grew up on the 1200's sound, and always wanted to have it as part of the studio. But it's always been crazy expensive, even more so here in Europe. I've seen alot of negative talk on the s2400, but to hear somebody who actually owns both be very clear about it is really good to hear. If it has 'that sound' down, that's all i needed to know, thanks for this.

I’d cop the isla but seeing they already doubled it’s price I’m good. Not that it’s not worth it it’s just the fact of the matter in a very short time it’s doubled - it’s a homage not og chill on that ticket incline

They both sound good but you have 2400 customers trying to justify their purchase, the thing sounds good also with added features. SP 1200 original sounds more thick and punchier. the listener doesn't care, for those who don't have an original SP 1200 get the 2400 if you have a SP 1200 and A S 950 keep what you have and do what you do. Next time sample from a better source to really see the differences try vinyl. The value of the 2400 will never be as the SP 1200 so it will always have a one up. I would be curious to see the sequencer feel and swing compared also.
