I know it’s an old video so you probably might not see this comment but I’d like to say that your math is slightly off because it’s pounds per square inch so having less pressure and the larger cannon could technically mean you had more pressure overall

Suggestion: Use a scuba tank with regulator for quick effortless filling. Use the regulator low pressure port and BCD inflator attachment. The LP port delivers 110 to 140 psi and can be adjusted to your preference. Push button start stop operation. An 80 cuft scuba tank will deliver dozens of surf cannon fills. Get rid of that bicycle pump unless you really like the workout. 😂😂

Thanks for this video and all the others you've made. I had a similar idea about how to test how far/most efficient a given air pressure will launch something - by shooting it straight up and recording the hang time. Then I found your video and you did it all! For me, I just need it to set lines into trees when doing tree trimming, but launching tennis balls, golf balls, potatoes, etc. winds up being the kind of thing guys can just get in to. Great video and methodology, the mini tennis balls are very light so someone might get different results with a heavier projectile. That might change the equation on what's the best pressure and barrel length. I also like the idea from your other videos of making frozen projectiles. Even when not using them for casting bait, you can goof around with the kids and friends and launch ice bombs and they will just melt away. As a teen and then in college (when I should have been studying), me and my buddies made potato launchers, soda can launchers, and whatever we could find and shove into a tube and launch it with some hair spray and a lighter (don't do this!). There was no UA-cam or internet back then, we just made it up as we went. Thankfully we didn't maim ourselves, but we were creative and resilient. We should have used safety glasses more, they were not as common back then. This is way more sensible and now we know how to blast a half-pound of frozen fish 100 yards away! Science! I love it. :)

Use a paintball air tank those things handle 3000 psi. You can pressurize it very slowly and still get 120 psi in about five seconds. Before you decide to do this pvc doesn’t handle air pressure well. Over time stress fractures will come. Use 2 inch metal pipe put 200 psi and good to go

I know this is an old video, but i saw you never posted the chrono video, or am i maybe missing it? Also youll get more velocity with a solenoid valve as ball valves loose some efficiency due to the slow opening of the valve, and youll see more consistent results as well.

Try the thighs cut up like you would cut up steak for fajitas. Cook like fajita meat. Bell peppers, onions sautéed in butter and olive oil. Turkey legs look like beef, they taste like beef when cooked like this. Put this in a soft tortilla with cheese and sour cream. It's amazing. You would swear you were eating steak fajitas! Do not throw turkey legs away!
