I myself am Afakasi as well. Dad is 1/2 Samoan and French and German. But We never felt like we were not Samoan growing up. We were not even felt like outcasts. I think the one thing that is different is because we were born and raised back home. I know of a lot of Afakasi, but we all feel the same way. When I'm asked of my nationality, I never say Samoan and white. I only say I'm Samoan. Just be proud of who you are. You are Samoan and made in the image of God. We don't all look the same, but you have that Samoan blood running through your veins. So represent proudly. Alofa atu.

I had to go through this throughout my childhood during the 80's and 90's. I'm from California and I'm mixed Hawaiian/haole (white) but look Mexican. I never felt comfortable with either side of my family and it didn't help having a European last name so kids in school always asked me "What are you?"

Im Hapa Haole and my childhood was a nightmare being mixed race. elem.-highschool everyday was awful I dont wish that on anybody even in some of my adult years. My skin color is light brown. but ive never fit in anywhere. My friends were filipino. I cant sit and talk about this stuff too much cause it still hurts and im almost 40 years old and still dont feel like I fit in. But this is nice to hear other polys had this issue growing up.🤙🏽
