The BEST BEGINNER IRONS for less than £100 in 2021? [IS THIS A JOKE?]
Are these the best irons for a beginner to buy in 2021?
What golf clubs should a beginner buy?
Discovering Golf is back!! 🔥 Let's talk gear! But first, a bit of a meme video. I made the first half of this video in the midst of the new golf club season, where every video I saw was about the latest driver being the best they had ever hit, followed by another video of exactly the same club immediately after, then followed by a review of yet another brand's club only a few weeks later.
I asked EP Golf Studios for some advice, and discuss what they recommend for beginners. Should you buy new clubs as a beginner? That might not be the best idea. And in this video I share why.

Improving My Golf Swing At Home - EP05 // Discovering Golf
Переглядів 3783 роки тому
The improvement mustn't stop! Before everything shut I was working on trying to get a shallower swing, and establish good swing habits now, whilst I am still at the beginning of my golf journey. The aim would be to stop the slice and start hitting the ball consistently, developing power as I grow. I tried working on a quick drill from home to develop the feeling of a shallower drill. I must say...
At Home Chipping Practice - Beginner Journey EP04 // Discovering Golf
Переглядів 3423 роки тому
It's lockdown, but the improvement mustn't stop! I wanted to work on my short game and feel as much as possible whilst we are stuck at home, so set up a little chipping practice in the back garden area. My target? A reusable shopping tote bag. Nothing fancy but just what I need to try and dial in my distance control. Let me know what you think about this style of video in the comments! #Stayhom...

I wanted to record my round shot-by-shot, but had a group who were held up in front of me by the group in front of them, followed by a group behind me. The ...
Buying a SURPRISE Nike Wood for £10 - Beginner Journey EP02 // Discovering Golf
Переглядів 6803 роки тому
In today's episode of The Beginner Journey I try to find a 3 wood to start building out my bag and I found a gem on Facebook marketplace... a vintage Nike T40 Driver... or 3 Wood? Let's see what I found. Building out a beginner bag doesn't have to break the bank. I found this gem for just £10, which originally retailed at £199 and was the wood that Tiger had in his bag. I pick up the club and t...

Learning How To Escape Bunkers - Beginner Journey EP01 // Discovering Golf
Переглядів 3623 роки тому
In today's episode of The Beginner Journey I am learning how to hit golf shots out of bunkers. See the before and after watching how to videos! After playing my 2nd round of golf I had met my fear: BUNKERS. I had not had the chance of practicing any bunker shots at my driving range because they didn't have a practice area for bunker shots. You will see as we watch my first bunker experience tog...
Never play your first round of golf by yourself, take an experienced friend. Golf is supposed to be fun, and you appear somewhat petrified. My golf partner dragged me kicking and screaming to my first 9 holes of golf. But after getting a ball or two in the air (somewhere around the third hole), I felt more comfortable. Your video is great because I know by now you're sailing around the golf course like you own it...WOO-HOO!...🏌⛳🛺
i’ve been golfing for about 5 days now, watching a ton of “first time” videos tonight to get my confidence up - playing my first 9 ever tomorrow!
This is cool cause ive jyst started playing golf as well. Aewsome game to play cause i basically cant stop thinking about it.
Just found your channel, as I'm starting with golf....and wondering did you stop play or?
The “Okay..” meme got me. Perfect timing. I just got my first set of clubs and I’m so pumped to go to the range!
I got my first set of clubs and bag for £25
Maybe too late as I have just discovered your page. Wilson please .
🎆🎇 CONGRATULATIONS YOU HAVE BEEN SELECTED AMONG OUR SHORTLISTED WINNERS 🎉, THANKS FOR WATCHING MESSAGE ME WITH THE NUMBER ABOVE NOW🌋..🌍.
Disclaimer: This is a bit of a joke
hahaha, The start was too funny! ..... I am a beginner myself and got a second-hand set as well. Thank you for sharing.
It's a small world when you realise you were in a two ball behind. Great video. Abbey Moor is a great place to start. As a former employee of the club I can't praise the place and staff enough. Look forward to seeing you progress.
Hi, How come he is playing from the red zones?
@@liamforster8852 I guess personal preference? He wouldn't have been playing to or for a handicap, but the world handicap system now allows for males to play from any tee, despite the reds traditionally being the ladies tee.
What a small world indeed haha. Hope I didn't hold you up too much.
@@discoveringgolf3512 Not at all. I hope you're still enjoying your golf and will continue creating videos.
@@wolfslazenger716 Yes back at it now! Took a bit of a break but now working on the game a lot. We should have a round one day!
The Nike 3 wood is a classic!! Plus with the steel shaft is awesome. 🤙👍
Music and video is fire bro
Thank you 🤝
Should I get an online swing coach?
ROB CHENEY STACK AND TILT OR NICK TAYLOR GOLF TEC SINGAPORE YOU CAN THANK ME LATER, FIND THEIR CHANNEL THEY ARE COACHES AND THE SWING WILL CHANGE YOUR GAME FOR THE BETTER.
I’m at the same place in my golf journey and practicing exactly the same thing right now while in lockdown. An online coach is a great idea and certainly worth trying at least one lesson to see how you get on. I’ve found the content of Me and My Golf to be fantastic and a big help, although after the initial trial it’s a subscription, also Chris Ryan’s videos explain this so well. I think you need a mat for the garden or a piece of astroturf or something 😊. Keep it up and keep the videos coming 👍🏻
Yes 100% need something to hit off so i can really go for the swing without worrying about tunneling to China. I have seen some great videos from Me & MY golf, were quite interesting. Was thinking of someone who could analyse and coach me through my swing rather than videos, let's see. Appreciate you checking out the channel!
@@discoveringgolf3512 Definitely give the online one to one video coaching a go, I’m doing the same myself at the minute. Doing a 30 minute lesson twice a week using FaceTime with my local PGA Pro. It’s certainly cheaper than the normal lessons!
Great stuff!
Warbird
Hey man good job. Can’t believe Rick has clocked you already high praise! I live near you so if you ever fancy a free round at sandown...post lockdown. Let me know!
Thank you Alan! I would love a round at Sandown, as you said its not far from me. Lets link up after lockdown mate.
Warbirds please...hope the comp is still going!
Yes, still going. Be sure to subscribe to enter :)
I play with Srixon distance as my usual and they’re good but I’d like to try the Warbirds 👍🏼
Not bad bud 👍🏼 keep that practice up!
Thank you William.
@@discoveringgolf3512 how did you make your “discovering golf” cover and animation? Did you do it yourself? Looks really professional!
@@williamschramm7560 Yes I made it myself. Not quite there yet, but will evolve over time :)
@@discoveringgolf3512 ah that’s well good! I’d love some tips on that like, what you used to make it? Also liked your first 9 video too how did you get that score thing in the corner!? Looks like tha majors with that!
@@williamschramm7560 Sure, just a simple animation for the intro video (not featured in this one haha). Just timing the opacity and position of the objects. The next iteration will feel like the ball is landing then rolling more with some sound design. For the score display, I actually based it off the pro tour style haha. Made it in photoshop then just quickly edited according to what the hole and score was, saved them as PNG to place over there.
What do you think about this style of video?
Yeah buddy! You’ll be shaving strokes off your scores in no time. And a Papa RS seal of approval goes a long way!
Thanks mate. Looking forward to lockdown being over so i can get out again
You have the right idea in terms of content! Really like what you’re doing here. A little advice in the video editing, I suggest when you did the split screen, just have the video on screen and do voiceover, might come out a little cleaner! I think you have potential to have a great series here! Def subbed can’t wait to see your journey! Lmk if you ever want to do a video together.
Thank you for the great feedback and input - I will use that voiceover approach in the next video like this. Would def be up for doing a collab on a video together down the line.
Don't stress too much about topping your ball when starting out. You only start getting really consist (and understanding your shot making) after around 30 rounds. I went from shooting 120s to low 90s in 3 months - your scores will lower in tranches as you figure these things out. Liked and subscribed. I enjoyed this.
Wow. That's amazing. Was there s specific "aha" moment for you that things began to click, or did it happen gradually? I look forward to sharing the journey and appreciate the comment. Thank you for subscribing.
@@discoveringgolf3512 well to be honest I've never been for lessons but I played a few times a year about 15 years ago as a teenager. Wasn't very good at it at the time but I built a swing back then. Now that I've taken it back up the muscle memory of a "swing" was still kinda there but it was very rusty. I watched a lot of UA-cam videos and read a few books (which I can recommend) and started taking notes. I'd progressively build on different aspects of my swing (although there are aspects that I'm not bothered about quite yet - like obsessing over hip rotation, or the way my wrists are cocked to use some examples). Anyway, I am very luck in that I pay $35 a month for unlimited rounds and range time, so it allows me to play a lot. What I have found is to really get your putting dialled in - find your stroke and set up and stick to it. This led to a drastic drop in score with the least effort. As for the aha moment you mention - they come in waves as I mentioned previously. One of the club professionals suggested I play twilight golf with 3 balls, and with those balls play 3 different types of shot whilst playing them all from the same distance, and to take notes on what works, what doesn't etc. Also when I play I will make notes eg 4 iron punch goes 130 yards at a maximum height of 15 feet (just as another example). I suppose it really comes down to the more one plays, the more intimate and comfortable one becomes with one's clubs, one's abilities, and of course the course.
Nice video mate - keep it up!
Whatttttt?? Papa Shiels has blessed this channel. \o/
Thank you Rick! Sorry to have used that video out of all but immediately after I hit the first drive its all that popped into my head 😂
What shot tracer do you use?
@@MrDaz500 In this video was the shot tracer app, but I have also used Adobe After effects too
i will have to watch this as i live very near Abbey Moor and used to play there a lot
I really enjoyed it, staff were nice, the conditions were great, and for £15??? How could you go wrong?
Liked this video? Subscribe to follow the journey discovering golf.
Nice video mate! I would say you could have done with a higher lofted wedge on some of those shots around the green (I know you only brought a selection of clubs with you). As a beginner myself who plays alone sometimes, it's mad how other groups watching your tee shots can have such a large negative impact! Keep up the good work.
I currently dont have any, highest loft is the sand wedge but I didnt quite feel confident with it from the grass yet. I am going to try and practice my chipping over the next weeks. Yes, I tried to zone them out but i must say its hard sometimes. Appreciate your feedback! Subscribe for more of the journey :)
Good to see some realistic golf! 🏌️♂️
More to come! Thank you for joining me on the journey

Keep it up dude. I remember my first video. If you ever want a game. Let me know. Keep golfing. Look forward to seeing more videos.
We don't understand you humans love of this game!
😂
I have just learnt from a member of r/golf about "grounding your club" and that, in fact, every shot taken was worth a penalty 😂Should I make a follow up video and try again without grounding my club?
