    Arigato gozimasu for sharing!! I think the peach bubble sticker is really cute and unique! I also love the hunge hanafusa at the end!! I also want to say a big Ookinii to the maiko and geiko-san in Kyoto and the people who work behind the curten to keep this uneaq tradition alive!

This is absolutely wonderful!

    Prior to the pandemic GEI/MAIKOS from Kyoto had the opportunity to tour internationally and would be exposed to other languages and cultures around the world. Hopefully this may resume after COVID.. Interesting that Maiko Nanoha-san was expected to know English from living for a time in the Netherlands and-not Dutch?

    • @noremorsewoodworking2258
      @noremorsewoodworking2258 2 роки тому

      Probably because most would expect her to have attended either an international or a dutch school, thereby learning english. I was not aware that there is in fact a japanese school in the Netherlands.

    • @Frank-mm2yp
      @Frank-mm2yp 2 роки тому

      @@noremorsewoodworking2258 The Japanese School of Amsterdam (JSA, Dutch: De Japanese School van Amsterdam, Japanese: アムステルダム日本人学校 Amusuterudamu Nihonjin Gakkō) is a Japanese international school in Amsterdam. As of 1997 the JSA is the Japanese school for about 66% of the Japanese nationals in the country. It has a Japanese curriculum . There is also one in Rotterdam=small world. The Netherlands has a long involved history in Asia; especially Indonesia, which was one of their overseas colonies. Their economic/business relationships with Japan go back for centuries.

    • @Geishakai
      @Geishakai 2 роки тому

      Thank you! It’s a typical Japanese cedar forest - the same type as the famous Aokigahara. Cedar trees have been gradually introduced in Japan for lumbering and usually they’re being planted around shrines. But this particular shrine is hidden in the mountains and the forest is natural, it seems. Just very specific natural conditions, like Aokigahara! The locals call it a “power spot” with spiritual energy overflowing

    CONGRATULATIONS to Yuriha-san! She will certainly be a wonderful GEIKO in Kyoto. She is already so poised and elegant. Its so interesting to me that middle school girls from all over Japan continue to make the journey to Kyoto to enter this traditional Japanese profession. Did she have any problems learning the Kyoto dialect? Thanks for letting her speak for herself... BTW The teeth blackening tradition is a bit disconcerting . I had seen it before and thought it was some kind of food dye. But I was not expecting it to be wax and charcoal! Live and learn!. Only in Japan...

    • @Geishakai
      @Geishakai 3 роки тому

      Ah yes, Kyoto dialect is a little bit challenging at the beginning for everyone, but Yuriha speaks SO elegantly, it was a huge pleasure for me to translate the interview and make subtitles! :) Ohaguro is a melted wax, it doesn't stain the teeth at all! It washes out quickly

      @@Geishakai Thanks for helping us foreigners learn more about this fascinating aspect of traditional Japanese culture. I am aware that so many of the Maikos and even Geikos love their ANIME and MANGA. A blend of the "old Japan" with the "new Japan" -and it works!
