    My baby is 15 months old, he understands most of the instructions and commands, he repeats many words, but yet grunts or whines whenever he needs something. I was not bothered by it till now, but today someone said how your child is not talking much yet...and this made me really anxious and I came to youtube to find out the ways to help my child. I am surely going to try these tips and come back here to let u know how it worked in my case. Thank you so much.

    My now 3 year old has known and responded to her name at the normal rate. She points at herself In pictures but won’t respond to “what’s your name?” I spent good 30 mins braving her to say her name and have her a mini m&m if she made her initial sound or if she somewhat completes syllables of her name but won’t donkt

    Thank you. My baby is 13 months. She can say the mmm sound. She can say mama but she choose not to. For example she’ll say dada, instead of mama if you ask her to say mama. Would these techniques still help?

    My oldest was labeled as having a speech delay even though he had zero other developmental issues 😩 he was even disqualified from developmental preschool due to speech being his only area of concern and being ahead in other areas. He is still in speech therapy at 8 years old. At this point it is about breaking old habits with Ls and S blends. He can say words correctly when he thinks about it but tends to slip back into old habits in casual conversation

    Sign language is also a great alternative! I have a niece that gets frustrated cause sometimes we don’t understand what she wants but ASL often eliminates that factor! 😊❤

    I have a 15-month-old with no words at all. He only started babbling recently and the babble is infrequent and only includes ba, ma and da. He has only two gestures: A head shake and a clap. He doesn't imitate. I'm concerned but nobody is taking me seriously.

      Hi! How old is your toddler?

    • @francisturney2938

      @@raisinglittletalkers Hi! He's almost 14 months, he understands lots of words and commands, partially with help from your videos, and he his is a bilingual household, or at least mama speaks to him in Japanese quite a bit. He will start to copy and learn to use words like Dada or more, but then stops using them a few days later or doesn't incorporate them into his normal communication. Those are rare examples though, he normally doesn't imitate our speech, but seems to babble more and more.

    • @raisinglittletalkers
      @raisinglittletalkers 10 місяців тому

      @@francisturney2938 babbling is good at 14 months, we definitely want to hear a lot of that. Does he use gestures to communicate? We typically look for 16 gestures by 16 months. In regards to imitation, if he starts imitating some words for the first time, like 'dada' or 'more' try setting up situations where he gets a lot of practice imitating those words so they stick! Hope that helps

    Thank you. This is very informative. How do we know it is or isn’t Autism? It seems like people assume the child is autistic because they may not be using expressive speech. My daughter is delayed with expressive but is good with receptive.

    • @raisinglittletalkers
      @raisinglittletalkers 10 місяців тому

      Great question! Autism is a neurotype that involves more than just differences in language development, so late talking alone or delayed expressive speech alone is not enough to determine with a child is autistic. I recommend checking out @MrsSpeechieP on Instagram, she has so much excellent information about ASD vs Language Delay.

    • @40andfabb
      @40andfabb 10 місяців тому

      @@raisinglittletalkersthank you, my 3.5 year old isn’t expressing her needs or communicating but she understands and she has the receptive skills. She is just starting to repeat everything. We had her tested for autism yesterday and they said she should have been doing this at 2 so we aren’t sure if it is autism related or a severe delay. She is highly intelligent with cognitive functions (ahead of her age) but just isn’t communicating. She has a high vocabulary because she repeats everything and we hear her also repeat everything that is on her shows on her tablet. She is very much capable but just isn’t using the words.

    • @raisinglittletalkers
      @raisinglittletalkers 10 місяців тому

      Sounds like you’re doing a lot to get her the support she needs going forward! And just for your info and any other parent reading this-autism and/or language delay doesn’t mean anything about your child’s intelligence. Sounds like she’s bright and needs help communicating 🧡

    Phonetically, Dada is a simpler word for a baby than Mama. The tongue is easier to control than the lips early on.

      That’s actually not true. I’m a speech-language pathologist and m, p, and b are common first sounds because they are easier to see than sounds inside the mouth like t and d etc. Some kids will say d first and others m.
