Welsh Streets In Liverpool Regenerated
#urban #regenerative #liverpool #welsh
A walking tour of a couple of the Welsh Streets in Toxteth, Liverpool. These houses were all run down and falling to pieces before Place First regenerated them. They are now high quality houses again and the area looks much better for it. We need more of this, Councils take note!
Enjoy!

    A telegraphic address, was a unique identifier code for a recipient of telegraph messages like an historic email address. Telegraph service operators regulated the use of telegraphic addresses to prevent duplication. Messages were tapped out onto ticker tape and then translated to text and often delivered by young men on bicycles by way of telegrams. As the system was phased out after the introduction of telephones, much of the kit and equipment was utilised and we still see it today in almost every road, street or avenue; telegraph poles. Beautiful building mate, well spotted. 👍

      I'm not sure if you're in the UK but if you are, most seed companies and garden centres sell a variety of Poppy Seeds online. Here is one in the UK mr-fothergills.co.uk/collections/poppy-seeds Scattering the seeds in Autumn (about now) will get you a strong showing from late Spring and into Summer next year. Ideally, try and find someone near where you live who has Poppies, and ask if you can take some seed heads. It's always better when it's free. Thanks for watching.

      Lucky you pulling a Parsnip 😉 Yep, the root fly burrow into anything underground once they smell what they are attracted to. They get inside during harvest time when the first ground disturbance happens. That's why I try to plant onions and other things around them to distract them with different smells. I'm very happy with the harvest this time, and I still have the ones in the small container and a few in the front garden bed. Hopefully there's actually carrots under there this time and not toothpicks 😂

    Nothing from the 17th century is "ancient"!

    • @ScouseFarm
      @ScouseFarm Місяць тому

      Depends on your definition. I used it as an indication of times past and long gone. As the dictionary definition states, 'having had an existence of many years', or another definition from a different dictionary, 'having the qualities of age or long existence', both can be found in dictionaries to describe 'ancient'. Hower, that's just semantics, and 'obviously' it's a very old building, hence the video stating it's unlikely you will see many older ones currently standing in Liverpool. Thanks for watching.

    It is sad to hear that, especially with the effort, time, and money you put in. You'd be surprised if you did catch them who might it be, it's probably some supposedly respectable older person? I worked for the council a while back on a refurbished old Japanese garden, someone kept stealing plants and trees, and luckily once a ranger caught a supposedly retired person with a Japanese Maple tree in their possession.

    • @ScouseFarm
      @ScouseFarm Місяць тому

      Yes, they knew what plants to take, particularly the Strawberries, so it's likely to be someone who knows gardening. It's just annoying because I've given plants to strangers who stop and talk when they see me out in the garden. There's no need to steal them and make a mess. Thanks for watching.

      Thanks for watching. Not as hot as where you are but the old place still looks good on camera haha.

    Great video mate , big thanks for the mention.. really appreciated.. you’re doing great and I’m sure you’ll reach your 1k soon. That little allotment garden by the church , maybe you could get the volunteers on board with your channel.. tell them what you’re about and watch there progress. As for the old buildings, they’re just stunning and taken for granted by most , such a shame. Catherine St and all round there is just beautiful.

      Nice one mate, made up that you got to 1k subs, especially because the weather has scuppered a lot of your video options this summer. Yep, I'll keep plodding along and I'll get there one day. Have a goodun.
