    Look, ive been barbering for 25 years. I gave up using DE and straight razors on clients many years ago, in place for 3 and 5 blade cartridge razors. If proper shaving procedures and protocols are implemented, there is no difference in the quality of shave. Everything else is confirmation bias. Fact

    I have had two t2 razors and they were both horrible. Lots of cuts, burn all the bad stuff. I bought one, terrible, the merchant exchanged it and the second one was almost as bad. The blade alignment was off. Called Rockwell no help at all. I do have a a c6 and it is a great razor

    Awesome video - what is the best way to figure out what the best setting is for you using an adjustable razor? I have sensitive skin and like my razors on the mild side. Thanks

    • @kinnikuzero
      @kinnikuzero 2 роки тому

      From what I understand that the larger the blade gap, the more aggressively it cuts. Here's some guy's quote on a different video: "For anyone interested in one of these adjustable razors -- the blade gap range for the Merkur Progress is 0.38mm to 0.94mm, while the blade gap range for the Merkur Futur is 1.12mm to 1.65mm. It's too bad the aggressiveness of these razors isn't promoted on their packaging to help one get a razor that will best suit them -- instead of buying the razor based solely on looks thinking everything else is equal. The Parker Variant and Rockwell 6S/6C are both similar in aggression to the Merkur Progress. The blade gap for a Merkur 34C HD is 0.71mm, while the blade gap for the Edwin Jagger is 0.76mm"

      @kinnikuzero 2 роки тому

      I too have sensitive skin so I ordered the progress short handle, let's see how it turns out. You might want to check out leafshave products, haven't tried them but they're marketed for sensitive skin

    Merkur safety razors are cheap former-Nazi-German junk. They're made of budget metals, never of stainless steel, and their finish is generally sloppy and shoddy. Not worth buying.

  • @mas3ymd
    @mas3ymd 2 роки тому

    What you’re saying here is pure BS. You can’t have it both ways… If cartridge razors pull the hair out with the first blade and then cut it further down with the second blade, it means you’re getting a closer shave than you would with a safety razor, which doesn’t lift and cut. I have a safety razor and I use it. It’s nostalgic, and little else. Bottom line is that cartridge razors - especially those of today - are products of more modern technology and are superior to safety razors in every way except cost. They wear out more quickly, the blades cannot be sharpened, and thus they must be replaced more often. If you want the closest shave, a cartridge razor is the best option.

    • @kevinblythe2192
      @kevinblythe2192 Рік тому

      So you didn't get the point that the drag and cut method leads to ingrown hairs as they try to grow out especially if you have curly hair? It's also the reason that the men who suffer from these kind of skin problems move to DE razors and away from the overpriced cartridge systems on the market. It's also well know that those blades are quite blunt compared to DE blades, and use a kind of rip and tear method of removal and because they cant be cleaned properly remain unhealthily clogged most of the time. You can pay $4 for a plastic multi blade cartridge if you want but I'm satisfied paying 30c a blade for a good clean shave and in these modern times, do we really need more unnecessary overpriced plastic waste in the environment?

    For years I used the fancy fusion 5 blades and when they started putting the blades behind glass, it was a huge inconvenience getting an employee to help me get razor blades, so I started looking at other options. I tried a bunch of them, and I eventually switched to a double-edged razor and after 7 years, I have not looked back. I started off using an Edwin Jagger DE89L with Astra and Derby blades, and I was very happy with my shaves, but I didn't like the three-piece design and I actually cut myself pretty bad taking it apart one time, so I ended up switching to the Merkur Mk34c. It doesn't shave as close, so you have to use higher quality sharper blades, My blade of choice is the feather platinum blades, but I also use a Personna, which is an American-made blade that works very well, but not as good as the feather. Btw, I would not recommend using feather with Edwin Jagger. I tried it and it cut my face up. One thing that you didn't mention as an advantage is how clean you can get a DE razor. I have used just about every razor there is at one time or another. Regardless of the razor, no matter how hard I tried, I noticed gunk in it after using it for a few days. Also leaving it in the bathroom sink area was just a breeding ground of bacteria and I always worried about infections. Since switching to DE razors, I don't have to worry about that. I can clean it fairly well with soap and water after each shave and then completely sanitize it by taking it apart and soaking it in alcohol when I change blades every second or third shave. I just wish that I could take it on a plane in my carry-on bag. For those who have to travel, I used to use a mach3 before I used the Gillette Fusion razor and I never had a problem with it. I actually prefer the fusion since it is a little closer shave, but it is so expensive that I am a hard pass on that now. When looking for a travel razor, I thought about the other brands, like harry's and others, but they are just not as common as the Gillette mach3 and I don't like the experiment with things as important as my morning shave. So when I am on the road, I just get a 4 pack of standard blades for $10 and put them in my bag and I have basically enough blades to last me 4 trips and it works wonderfully since it hardly shows a 5 o'clock shadow by the end of the day. And if I leave it in the room by accident, I am not out a ton of money like I would if I used a boutique razor. I hope this helps.
