Julie Grows
United States
Приєднався 10 жов 2024
Hi, I’m Julie!
I grow things: in the ground outside, and (hopefully) inside myself.
I'm doing the 40+ UA-cam journey, and have been posting daily since 11/6/24.
I grew up with two emotionally immature, narcissistic parents. In 2018, I moved to an island and went no contact.
So far on this channel, I've been sharing stories of what that was like, and rewriting a life story that is my own, something I wasn't allowed to do as a child, or in the narcissistic relationships that followed.
I'm hoping to build community through validation of shared/similar experiences and HEALING.
I'm big into gardening, agroforestry and trying to homestead, so expect to see lots of green and a handful of exotic fruit, food and garden content.
Let's grow together!

It sounds like the same ol female play book to me. Gaslight, slander and character assassination is how this works. Straight up, I see your friend is projecting. Anyone who gaslights and slanders their ex online to character assassinate them is not the good party and is everything they accuse the other off and much more IMO. Your friend sounds like a real piece of work and her ex dodged a bullet, no doubts...
Absolutely right. The Narcissists with severe NPD blame the victims. It's a completely disgusting behavior. No different than telling the rape victims they deserved to be raped. It's just that this is psychological and emotional abuse instead of physical.
She was a gaslight! Mine was a gaslighter, too
It was particularly important that she shared in this case because of the audience who believed certain things about the abuser that we now know were not true. I’m so disappointed. But I am glad to know the truth and am praying that she stays strong and does not get pulled back in. I’ve been there, and she absolutely must maintain no contact.

This is supposed to be the "slow" time of year, but everything still seems like it's growing out of control, haha. Oh the drama. I get it live in a buiding with a lot f women who gave been through hell let's hope he doesn't blow up on her though ...that's the secret part let's hope it gets better for her
Right, I do worry about what his reaction will be. Luckily, he lives on the other side of the country. But he does have a huge platform, so could still do some damage with that. Fingers crossed, he just lets her go her own way, and that can be that.
I think it’s a bad idea. Most of the people I see air their personal toxic drama or call other’s narcissistic are usually highly toxic themselves. If you have that many problems with people it might be you Like couples who make videos are usually harboring secrets But do you it’s your channel
Good points. I think there can be a pretty significant difference between starting a smear campaign against someone and discussing something that happened. But it depends on context; I guess the more "UA-cam famous" or whatever a person gets, the harder it is to keep anonymous, so it does kind of lean into iffy territory when it's clear who they're talking about. Thanks for the watch and comment. :)
I know that in my past abusive relationships, I kept their secrets when I was still hopeful of resolving the situation. I only talked once I knew I had reached my cutoff point. I know that abuse thrives in the dark and like other kinds of scum it perishes in the light of day.
Right. It wasn't until the last year or two of a couple different six year plus awful relationships that I even spoke to friends about how bad things were getting. It's hard to maintain the cognitive dissonance when other people who care about you know the truth, so got to keep it a secret until you're really ready to GTFO. Thanks for the comment.
If a narcissist has ever been violent or shown violent tendencies it’s very dangerous to confront or out them. The healing from narc abuse comes when we learn accept and heal why we were willing participants in the shared fantasy.
Agreed. Any kind of physical danger absolutely isn't worth it. Naming names probably isn't a great idea, either. I think her relationship with him was well known enough that there wasn't really a way to publicly vent without it outing him. As satisfying as it was to see, I do worry a bit. The guy has a huge platform, which definitely gives him the potential to do harm in ways that aren't necessarily physical.
There definately areas of healing that can make us less susceptible to narcissistic abuse. But it's important to remember the very clever ways they create a trauma bond. That is closer to psychological manipulation/brainwashing than a 'shared fantasy.'
@ all relationships with cluster B are shared fantasy and the non cluster B who enters one is in a vulnerable traumatized state which is why they agree to enter bc fantasy is more exciting than reality. The only way to fully heal is to not only blame the cluster B bc one person being all good or bad is splitting which is a cluster B trait. We have to take responsibility for our part and hold them accountable for theirs. A healthy non cluster B brain is able to hold two opposing truths.
Thank for the video Julie. Good for her!
Thanks for watching! Yes, I've got to admit it felt good to see her be strong enough to talk about what happened. I just hope she stays safe and he doesn't try to retaliate in some way.
👍
You're right. Abusers should not get to keep their good reputation.
@@johenderson3742 Right!? Maybe it seems petty, but I don’t think survivors should have to keep quiet. And I do think there’s something to the reasoning that the more people you tell, the less likely you are to go back.
@@juliegrows And it's good to warn others so they don't get victimised.

Boomer here -- word on the street is that Paul died in a car crash November 9, 1966. It was such a big deal that MI5 got involved and found a look-alike named Billy Shears so the public would be none the wiser. Their later albums lyrics and artwork, especially Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club all dropped hints about what really happened.

I have an opinion on people pleasing that is different to the norm. I genuinely want(ed) to help others! From giving folks a ride if they are broken down, to offering to assist my neighbours and family members on projects. Many hands make light work and create motivation. I also (stupidly) assumed that my friends and neighbours would be happy to reciprocate. Boy was I wrong. 99.9% were takers, not givers. I now have hardened my heart and locked my gate. If I need help I have to find a tradie, which is extremely difficult out where I live. My neighbours do not talk. One is a builder, one a plumber and one a car mechanic. Their wives don't talk to each other (or me) and my attempt at a kind message on Xmas cards was met with stoney silence. Perhaps it's something in the water out this way?!😢
@@johenderson3742 I totally get that. It’s the idea of having an actual community, where people are willing to trade or share knowledge, skills, produce, what have you. It seems like real life community is getting more and more rare, the more we live on our devices. But I still think we all long for that sense of belonging and connection. And it can sometimes backfire on us when we pour too much of our “community” focused energy into the wrong people.
@juliegrows Thanks for responding! There are only 4 houses within sight of me and all 4 don't communicate. Some have even trespassed each other! Any suggestions on how I can find my community?! Travel to town is a no no due to distance and cost. 👻 Ps, Dysfunctional family, likely have CPTSD, so maybe it's me putting others off with my behaviour?
I wish I had a better answer than "the internet" for finding community, but it really does seem to be the way at this point. I live in a subdivision full of one acre agriculturally zoned lots, but I'm one of few who's doing anything agricultural. (A lot of people just bulldoze the native forest and use poison to keep their giant empty yard "tidy.") So, there aren't a lot of people I have a whole lot in common with nearby. Besides the farm stand people down the road, a lot of what I'd consider my "real life" community of farm and garden folks live too far away to visit or trade with regularly, so they come together in groups on Facebook. I think there's some potential in this UA-cam thing, too. The unfortunate thing about doing it all online is that we're kind of limited to exchanging thoughts and ideas; trading products or services is a little more complicated. The place I live is almost notorious for attempts at "intentional communities," which are really interesting in theory, but tend to fail in reality. Something always tends to come up regarding issues with land ownership, division of labor and fairness, interpersonal drama, or it just turns out to be a dang cult. From what you've described, it doesn't sound like you've done anything to put people off with your behavior. (But If I'm being honest, I don't know you well enough to rule anything out.) But my guess would be your neighbors are just like most people in the modern western world: trying to figure it all out on their own, and not making time for the connections that could actually be beneficial to everyone involved.
@@juliegrows Bulldoze the trees and use sprays? How horrible! Yep, they are likely the consumer types that I wouldn't want to chat with over a cuppa. I looked into one of those Community Group Landshares as they were just in the discussion phase. Omg, it was so easy to see why that never eventuated! It was clear that some thought they were more equal than others and wanted all their adult children and their kids to have the right to move in if ever the shtf (with no contribution). I guess the, "good fences make good neighbours" saying stands. 😁
Wow that’s an interesting story! Nice video. 😁

gheee! what happened between childhood and now? looks like some kind of religious brainwash/trauma.
Okay, so one vote for “this is all normal, but religious trauma is making me question it?” Let me know if I’m not understanding correctly. Can’t say I’ve had much religion (or trauma related to it that I’m aware of) instilled in me. But I suppose that (religious trauma) is what America was built on, and is supposedly trying to go back to even harder. So, there could be some truth in that.
I think it’s a self worth thing and why don’t we feel worthy when we don’t do more. Great job catching yourself!
