This is some recent drone footage of the former Riverside flats site in Ayr. Work has started on Ayr's new Riverside flats that will be built next to a former tower block. A total of 75 new affordable homes are set to be constructed at Riverside Place, on the land that was previously occupied with two tower blocks. Contractors are Ashleigh Building.

This is a video I've put together after walking out to Suilven last week for an overnight camp to shoot a time lapse capturing Suilven and the night skies overhead. I took a different route out from Glencanisp lodge than what is the norm, quite boggy in places. I hope you enjoy the vlog along with time lapse & an astro image of Suilven too.

I was walking back to the car park for Suilven after an overnight camp today, when I spotted this pair of stunning Red deer stags in front of me, I think they were distracted by my bright colourful attire and seemed quite at ease with my drone flying over them. Here's a quick edit from my van before heading back down the road, a wonderful way to end my trip.

Great video. The seagull's are a bit mental this time of year due to protecting their young. They're much better at flying than we are though so their moves were to warn you off rather than attack.
Thank you, I’m glad it was just a warning as the drone wouldn’t stand a chance against those seagulls

It looks good, Alistair, and nice work with the drone 👌🏼
It’s sad when people set old buildings on fire for no reason
Absolutely, no reason to have done this
Sad to see it go. I worked there for a little while when I was a student in Ayr. It’s a beautiful building. Thanks for posting.
You must have some great memories of the place, it’s pretty much all been demolished now, possibly another month or so of demolition as it’s all by hand now being right next to the railway line
Nice to see the club is doing well (from a neutral).
Definitely moving in the right direction with the current owner
Thank you for sharing, I can't wait to see it all myself, in a few weeks I'll be there
You are very welcome, unfortunately it probably won’t be dark enough now until mid August to fully appreciate the night skies
Really sad to see this but I suppose it had to happen😞
It is still going on, I think a few weeks more of the demolition work will be carried out
What a sad sight. It was such a grand building and the first thing you saw at the station. Ayrshire has changed, but not for the better. The area has lost a lot of heritage. Was it deliberate, was it negligence? I grew up in Kilwinning and my old hometown has been decimated with building and redesign. Can't things be restored and left alone?
Yes it was started deliberately a few times prior to the last one in September 2023
. T f
😊
Good to see it go. It passed the point of return many years ago. The choice was - derelict building or operating railway.
Agreed, it was such an eyesore for locals and visitors
Great work. Is it a total demolition project or is there plans to salvage what’s left (which does not appear to be a lot)
I'm. A gers fan good luck to Scott Brown at Ayr

Any plans for the site?
A new bus & train hub has been mentioned, as has new housing and shops, nothing definitive yet though.
When will the Malaysian owner be getting the bill for the damage he has caused?
It would be great to hear his side of the story
When will people take their blinkers off and take a look at the bigger picture? Look at the motive in place for the buildings deterioration and demolition. The site has long been planned for a new transport hub. The people who wanted that transport hub are...?
Och aye a train and trannie hub….a cunning plan
I remember staying there back in 1979 shame it's will soon be history
greetings- you shared top content-
Thank you ☺️
Brilliantly captured. It's such a shame to see it being torn down. Thanks for sharing 👏
Very kind of you, many thanks
So sad....😢
Still a shit hole. Just like the town itself.
It is disgusting to witness the appalling treatment inflicted upon this building, both by its owners and the council. It is important to acknowledge that the council had already expressed their desire for a new "transport hub" on this site long before any of these events unfolded. The purpose of listing a building as a heritage site is to ensure its protection and preservation, yet sadly, this has not been the case here. We have regrettably lost one of Scotland's most magnificent and expansive railway buildings. The replacement will be nothing more than a glorified tin shed. Never forget the disrespectful manner in which the South Ayrshire council has handled our cherished history and heritage in this instance. The demolition of listed buildings through mystery fires etc needs to stop. I only wish this could go the same way the Crooked House pub has in the Midlands.
I’ve just posted an update video on the demolition progress
Excellent and appropriate music for such a tragic situation. All because a cowardly Council (of all political colours) did not get a grip of the situation that festered for years. A once-handsome county town is going doon the lavvy week-by-week.
Thank you
Certainly. This building could indeed have been preserved, and it should have been. The council had already made plans for its demolition long before any of these events occurred as the site had long been earmarked for a new transport hub for quite some time. The ODEON site was also intended to be part of this transport hub with a new bus station on that site. That process began with the demolition of Burns House offices, and the removal of the ODEON cinemas' listed building status a few years ago. Fortunately, Merlin Cinemas have intervened and taken over the building, saving it from being lost, for now. Nevertheless, it is sad that we have now lost the largest and grandest railway building in the entire southwest of Scotland, and perhaps even the entire west coast.
Amazing filming. The flying and editing are spot on. I was down in Ayr yesterday flying and noticed the Hotel such a Sad thing to see. I remember it when I was a child. How things have changed. Well done

Always been a cracking wee ground, this will definitely enhance it and build on the fantastic atmosphere you always get there , good luck Ayr and great video , all the best from a Hibby 💚

Are they keeping terracing there or are they outing seats in it ?
I believe the front section is to be terracing, with the rear section having seating
Looking great. It is bigger than I expected. Your Chairman is truly going for it with the facilities which is brilliant. I read a big new gym and more in the open corner of main stand in going to be built also if finance can be found. Somerset park with become the envy of the majority of clubs in Scotland soon. Please post another drone vid once it is all completed, would be great to watch.
Very kind to say so. Yes I hope to do at least one more, the club is certainly in goods hands with the chairman, looking very professional with all the improvements so far
Was in the stadium in the late 60s …..I think the new stand will “make”the Place ….Good Luck to United and your New Manager Scott Brown …..
