Electric Bus Planning and Optimisation Tool ⚙️⚡🚍
Indian cities are rapidly electrifying their urban bus fleets to contribute to the country's target of net-zero by 2070. Nearly 8000+ e-buses operational across the country, and thousands more in pipeline enabled by the FAME scheme. However, majority of Indian public bus agencies do not have appropriate and cost-effective tool for efficient planning and scheduling of the electric buses.
GIZ India, in collaboration with Surat Municipal Corporation, Surat Sitilink, Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) and WRI India, is developing 'Electric bus Planning and Optimisation tool'. The open-source tool focuses on analysing and optimising the operation and cost-effectiveness of the electric bus systems. The tool will enable this through 3 modules:
Depot and Opportunity Charging Station Allocation Module
Bus Scheduling and Charging Schedule Module
Total Cost Estimation Module
The tool will be piloted in Surat and scaled up across other Indian cities.

Using a sailing ship to transport carbon producing cars between the islands. All the infrastructure to get the sailing ship freight from producer to ship is carbon producing fossil fuels. I didnt see any horses or donkeys.Great. All the bureaucrats who come to the islands for a holiday/business fest in you know what? The largest producers of upper atmosphere greenhouse gasses namely jet aircraft, which is mostly in international airspace so no one owns it. How convenient. And the poor locals have to hump copra at below world standard wages to survive.

car dependency is just as bad for you as it is for able-bodied people. if you, for example, currently rely on a special vehicle to go long distances, then 1. wouldn't it be easier if you didn't have to go long distances as much? 2. wouldn't it be easier for you to drive if all the people on the road whose tasks don't need to be in cars, e.g. commuting to office jobs, going to events, meeting up with friends, shopping for less than a backpack's worth of stuff (or more, cargo bikes exist), etc., were on bikes or transit instead of in your way? 3. don't you also benefit from reductions in pollution if people drive less? 4. have you heard of e-bikes and e-trikes? somebody i find inspirational is Martyn Ashton, you should check him out. i for one actually really appreciate accessibility concerns being raised, because i do want the world to be inclusive. but my belief is that a world that isn't reliant on cars is both better for *everybody* in general and can accommodate disabilities better than one that is reliant on cars.

Yeah, sure it is harder physically for tourists, but when you live here permanently, your body gets used to the altitude so it doesn't make things harder really. Also studies from universities here have shown that pollution it's affecting harder the people inside the buses than the people outside of it.
