Historic Home Movies of Saint Andrews N.B.
Canada
Приєднався 18 лип 2016
The St Andrews N.B. Audio Visual Archive Collection of Historic Home Movies and other materials of local interest was launched in December 2016. In due course a number of historic home movies will be uploaded for public access. This collection is being made in close association with the Charlotte County Archives of New Brunswick whose assistance with the project is gratefully acknowledged. In most cases informal commentaries have been added to the usually silent movies in an effort to add value to the footage, whose historical interest hopefully makes up for the amateur technical quality. Every effort is being made to provide correct information in support of the films, but no doubt memories will prove incorrect at times and must be forgiven. No guarantee is offered that the information is all correct. Comments and corrections will always be welcome in the spaces provided. Additional sources of home movies of general and historic interest in St Andrews are also sought.

Colin Mundy’s film of building the Styleliner house in St. Andrews N.B. in 1954 did not specify where it was. Using this and a 1961 aerial photograph he was able to locate the house and use Google Earth and St...

A PREVIEW OF 16 ARCHIVE VIDEOS OF ST ANDREWS N B April 2020
Thank you for posting. The Prince Edward Island was certainly old when I traveled to PEI. I was told that it sold for one dollar for the scrap heap. Don't know if that's actually true or not. The film has the Abbey of course and the others that I remember were John Hamilton Grey, Lucy Maud Montgomery and a REALLY old boat called the Scotia. Eventually, they were replaced by the Holliday Island and the Vacationland. (Less exciting vessels) Anyone remember any other's?
This is great footage!
What a joy! A blessing for my sister and I that our mother, Eleanor Snell was born in Saint Andrews, Mother was the daughter of Captain H. G. Snell and Clara Ellen Hagan. Siblings were Benjamin Snell Marguerite Snell, Winnifed Snell and Ed Snell. Sister Joan and I were so privileged to be born into this very special family of such good people. Uncle Ben might be remembered as the Post Master for many years. Summers and school vacations were frequently enjoyed during visits with Pearl and Ben and Gran and Grandpa. For sister and I and our cousins our love for Saint Andrews has been deep and everlasting. Though we may have lived lives far removed or travelled the world there has been no other place like our beloved Saint Andrews by-the sea. Thank you so much for this opportunity to view the town as it was. My sister and I loved that St. Andrews never seemed to change and that is how it shall remain always in my heart.....Sheila Kelley
Wow - I still recognize Jeff Holmes and Kenny Leslie's voices.
Wonderful video Beautiful St Andrews Thank you ❤
Much worse in Northern England and Scotland than the South. My dad was called out to keep sewage pumping stations going and he had to drive down the middle of the street to stop the constant rain of slates from the rooves of the houses. A beautiful 300-year old cedar was blown down in my school's grounds that would have put the Sycamore gap Sycamore literally in the shade. Virtually a whole Forestry Commission forest was blown down. They used the trees for pit props in those days as Maggie T was just Leader of the Opposition. On the other hand the 'hurricane' of 1987 was, an event of the South. Where I lived in Lincolnshire it was just a bit wet and windy. Guess which one is remembered more by the Southerners?
I miss her every day loved her v much

I wish we can get those days back and give the king a new way of thinking about life and marriage to Diana as well as being a family man,! Wouldn't it be great to sea them together. What about the vows infront of God Allmighty king Charles? Why did you used and misused the young woman. She was worth so much more. Look at the Royals now. How did you think.Surely you must have known its going to be a big nock on the palice. And your two boys. You were so beautifull together, if the devil didn't came in between, everything was different today. Herefore therefore GOD KNOWS WHYFOREg!,! AllwYs princess Diana!!!! 🙏🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🙏
I hope on all countries to turn bridge piers into walls so that cars that crash into them can keep sliding without suffering the same fate as Princess Diana. I'm sorry and thank you.

Diana, here you were 22 year old. can't have enough of you Di. 2 days before our William's 2nd birthday. The destiny of Britain is in the hands Church In England. God appointed the Monarchy to be the head, no one can rebuke it, neither the whole truth about Diana's Imminent death. Lord, we want closure & l hope Harry memoir will seal "That hidden mystery" once & for all. Diana, our People's Princess. I 💕 you & l miss you So so so much.

Mr Olkier helped Sir Thomas Tait maintain beautiful gardens. Later Mr and Mrs Olkier had their own commercial greenhouse operations at their own home opposite the avenue to Links crest on the road to St Stephen. It is uncanny how much Mr. Olkier's grandson Robbie, looks like him. He also exhibits the same green thumb gene. I remember Mrs. Olkier as speaking Danish, and very little English. Bill Clarke, my grandfather once took me to Olkier's to get bedding plants, although he had many of his own. He reminded me that although St Andrews people often came to Covenhoven expecting to be given bedding plants for free, he felt it very important to support the Olkier's business and was happy to get plants there. Although I have a Rock Garden Book gifted to my grandfather, and he admired the Linkcrest rock garden, there were no rock gardens at Covenhoven. Field rocks stayed in the rock walls of the fields, in the road gate planters and the building foundations. The beauty of the Linkcrest Gardens captured in these digitized films evoke memories of fragrant flowers and warm soils carried on the summer breezes.
The woman in the photograph standing in the kitchen, next to an elderly John W Garnett {my Great Grandfather) is not my Great Grandmother, "Dolly" Randall Garnett. She is John Garnett's eldest daughter, my grandmother: Doris (Dody) Randall Garnett Clarke. Thanks for the wonderful memories.
I witnessed this as a young lad of nine. Scared the @@@@ of me. The stench lingered for days. Still have the occasional nightmare.
I miss you Princess Diana and love you Queen of World
What's with the Union Jack? Their Royal Highnesses were there as members of Canada's royal family, representing the Canadian Crown; it wasn't a diplomatic visit by foreigners.
Hi
Thank you for your lovely compilation. St Andrews before the coming of the deer. 💐
Hello. We are producing a Weather History segment on the 1976 Groundhog Day Storm. May we have permission to share this content on The Weather Network, our Pelmorex Corp. properties and partners, with onscreen credit to you?
Absolutely. Apologies for slow response
Pretty primitive conditions for the '70s! One blanket, sleep on the floor and snow blowing in. 5 months for stealing a bottle of scotch. Wow. Interesting little slice of history. Excellent.
Diana William will inherit the throne nt Charles. The queen will pass her baton to Charles.
Henry McCurdy, my father, was a player and trainer and also referee during this era. He refereed with Hugh Graham and many others.
My uncle Teddy filmed this (in credits) fire the day it burned (also this day the Tennant’s arrived in St. A. From Quebec. My sister, who was 18 months, alerted my Grandmother to the “moke”, upon seeing it herself, she contacted the Fire Dept and her son Paul who was one of the volunteer fire fighters also attended.

Hi there! I'm making a short film about St. Andrews and I was wondering if it would be okay if I use some of the old footage in this video?
Yes of course, with a credit please.
Beautiful video footage so lovely to see St Andrews from so long ago
It's possible those rocks were being removed because they were obstructions for a potential weir site.

Shy Di, yes, indeed.
She is 22 years old in this video, year 1983
This is really nice to hear your voices as you look back. I miss Princess Diana so much.
Her Royal Highness, Diana, Princess of Wales. That is the right term
She cannot be call Princess Diana because she was not born with it but only married to Princes Charles, who happens to be the Prince of Wales.
@@marydorothyiturralde3098 no, wrong.
@@marydorothyiturralde3098 i don't wanna argue about that point . But when you think of Princess diana only will come to ur mind . a true fairytale princess ever lived . R.i.p she is not with us now
Princess Diana was beautiful inside and out ❤️.
Wonderful footage. T For the record, the two cottages next to Jeff Holmes were Mary McFarlane and Susie Denley's. They are also shown in the Conley's fire film.
