Whilst in Shropshire we visited the lovely town of Ironbridge situated in the stunning Ironbridge Gorge (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). Afterwards we stepped back in time as we explored Blists Hill, a whole town set up as it would have been in Victorian times (we got serious “Westworld” vibes!). We had a great tim...

On the way, we stopped off at Gloucester Services on the M5 (Motorway services with a difference…you have to go there if you’re travelling that way!). Although we have driven through Shropshire before (when we travelled down from North Wales), this was the first time actually taking our campervan to rural Shropshire to stay for a few ni...

Nice van I am thinking of getting one. Does the drivers seat swivel and do you know the dimensions if you used a single beds. Thanks Phil.
Hi….thanks for the comment. The drivers seat doesn’t swivel, sadly (although in reality this isn’t a real issue for us). We’ve never used it as single beds, only a double so not sure.
Nice day there guys! Go there now and again like you living in Dorset. Autumn lovely time of year to go with the colours. Enjoyable vid as always.😊
Thanks! Yes, we love Kingston Lacy 🙂
Do you tend to use your camper all year round?
Hi there…..Yeah, pretty much. Although for overnight stays we pretty much keep it to early Spring (March), Summer and Autumn. We do day trips in the van all year round though (inc Winter) and we did spend a few days in the van for New Years a couple of years ago. 🙂
Hya, this is the first time i've found one of your videos. I have also got a 2000 Autosleeper Symbol. My partner and I have been to the New Forest in either campers or caravans depending what we had at the time. We loved going there. Sadly I lost Bryan just over 2 years ago but I have continued to use the camper on my own since then. It is something too good to give up and makes me happy. I have subscribed to your channel and look forward to seeing more of your adventures.
Hi there…..thank you for commenting. So sorry to hear about you losing Bryan. It’s good you’ve been able to carry on using your campervan and that it’s making you happy. Thank you for subscribing, I hope you enjoy all the other videos we’ve uploaded so far and we hope you enjoy our future videos too! All the best D&J x
Great choice of van - a perfect size and design for touring UK lanes!
Exactly! Thanks for the comment 🙂
Just started following you over the last few days, feels like you have invited me along on your travels, just chatting as friends, plus you always make me feel hungry. Great video again, cheers
Haha…..sorry for making you feel hungry! Glad you’re enjoying our videos. We’re glad you’ve “got” the vibe we’re going for. Thanks for travelling with us! 👍🏻🙂
Really enjoyed your days in Wareham Forest thank you 💌💌💌
Thanks for comment! Glad you enjoyed the video 🙂
Does the fresh tank cleaner effect your stainless steel sink? Can you drain it down a street drain as think it has chemicals in? I was thinking of using food grade citric acid. Any thoughts on this. It looks like I have the same van as you. Do you drink the water from your tap? Thanks for all the info.
Hi thanks for the comment/questions. The Puriclean is specifically designed for caravan/motorhome/campervan tanks. Although our sink isn’t steel, we’re guessing it wouldn’t affect it even if it was. We do drink water from the tap, via our filer water bottles as well as using water purification tablets. 🙂
Nice area and the campsite looks ok but I wouldn't want that pitch right by the barriers. Bacon n Eggs looked yummy! PS. We have the Harmony version of your Van named Audrey!!
Hi…thanks for the comment. Yeah, we probably wont get a pitch right next to barriers again (but for just 2 nights we were ok with it). Loving the name of your Harmony (Audrey)! 🙂
Great campsite and beautiful autumnal colours. Are you new to camping? You seem quite fazed by the EHU situation which is really quite normal, I think. We have two power cables, one for 10 metres and one for 30. We've only ever not reached the electrical point one time, in Sweden. Beautiful weather you had!
Hi….Thanks for the comment and glad you enjoyed the video. No, we’re not new to camping at all (as you can see from our other videos). Like you we also travel with a 10 metre cable and a 30 metre one - which was why we had one long enough for this particular campsite. Out of all the C&C (and C&M) club sites we’ve been too, this is the first one where we’ve seen 1 ELH point for 4-5 pitches. So we thought it worth mentioning to give a heads up to people who aren’t as prepared as we are. Like you say though we had beautiful weather, especially for the end of October! 🙂
Thanks for yet another fantastic video. I think Dave's job is in IT but my husband thinks he's a teacher and yes we are very nosy 😂
Glad you liked the video, pleased we’re not the only ones who are nosey 😂 With regards to my job (Dave here 👋), I do teach for a living but what I teach….is also the other part of what I do for a living (and it’s not IT 😎).
@@theealesadventures We think Dave is a driving instructor 😁
@tinawelch3286 Nope! 🙂
@@theealesadventures OMG we were sure Dave was a driving instructor. Best get our thinking head back on 🤔😁
@tinawelch3286 😬
Hunters moon we've stay many times guys! Indeed there is a story to be told about the silent woman boozer😄 Nice vid guys! Paul & Lin.
Thanks guys! Interested to know about the Silent Woman (is it anything to do with Alice Lisle, I wonder?)
@@theealesadventures The story was she whoever she was used to grass on the local smugglers so they cut her Tonge out!😝😆
Ooohhhhh…….very grizzly!
Nice video. We've just got a 2005 Symbol so it's nice to see how you get on in one👍
Thanks! Congrats on getting your 2005 Symbol! Please do check out all our other videos too! All the best 🙂
Thank you so much for this van tour, the most thorough I have ever seen with lots of useful tips. It has convinced me that a Symbol is for me .
That’s awesome to hear, thank you! We’re away in Basil right now actually, for a cheeky 2 nights away 🙂. I think you’ll be happy with a Symbol. Let us know if/when you get one! 👍🏻🙂
Yes I will if I can find one as good as Basil ! Enjoy your break
@vickiphillips4876 Thanks!
Nice looking back on the bit of the summer we did have. Lovely vid again, we always enjoy!😊 Paul & Lin.
Thanks guys! Yes, it was a “blink and you’ll miss it” summer wasn’t it!
Has your bird got an only fans page dude?
Hi guys thanks for sharing, it bought back memories of almost 30 years ago. We did the steamer and steam train combined as we had a dog and discovered we were very limited in what we could do. It certainly seems more dog friendly now. We were racking our brains trying to remember the camping and caravan club site we stayed on, we knew it was brand new and just been awarded the David Bellamy award for being environmentally friendly right back then. We enjoy watching you guys and do not understand why you get so little views? Let's hope they improve. Carry on campervanning 😊
Thank you for your comment and kind words, glad you enjoyed the video! 🙂
Where is your bucket list location to visit in your campervan (or otherwise)? Have you been to the Lake District?
Please can you send me a link for some thermal blinds to fit my van. It's a peaugot symbol 2.5td 2000 Ones compatible ones on amazon, just don't fit, hope you can help. Many thanks Neil
Hi….Here’s the ones we use camperwarehouse.co.uk/product/internal-blind-boxer-ducato-1994-to-2001/
I love your van. I have been lioking at these and the harmony. Is yours a 1.9 or larger. Only reason I ask is that I have read the 1.9 is a bit sluggish and just wanted a bit of advice.
It’s a 2.0 petrol….but it is still a little sluggish compared to a modern car (it is a 24 van, after all). I think the 1.9 is the diesel version.
Thank you for your update.
@pennyyoung6684 You’re welcome 🙂
Looks lovely ! One for next year 👍👍
Hi…..Yeah, definitely a bucket list destination! 🙂
Hi,what’s the name of the campsite you stayed at? Looks like you had a great time!
Hi….Yes, we had a fantastic time! The campsite was the Bowness-On-Windermere Camping & Caravan Club Site. It was just a 5-10min walk from the site to the lake and cruise boats and a 10-15 min walk to the town centre. Perfectly positioned. Friendly staff too 🙂
That was another really enjoyable vid guys! Paul & Lin.😊
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Hi what’s your thoughts on the power station?regards Simon
Hi…If you’re talking about our EcoFlo, we love it. It has 2 regular plug sockets (enough power to run our toaster, Nespresso coffee machine and milk frother) and USB A and USB C fast charging. We’ve also got portable solar panels to charge it. Maybe well done a video on it sometime 🤔
Can I ask which model it is please 😊
@SimonTemple-f4i Hi….we did mention the model of the van in the video 🙂
Sorry I mean the model and size of the power station 😊
@SimonTemple-f4i Ahh……sorry! It’s the EcoFlow Delta Mini (1400W output) 🙂
What length are beds if you left them as two singles . Thanks
Hi, thanks for the comment. We’ve never actually measured them ourselves, but we’ve just done a quick Google search and the near side single is 6’1” x 4’9” and the offside single is 5’8” x 2’3.5”. Hope that helps 🙂
just subscribed. great vlog helpful tutorial for us new to campervans. Thinking of getting a Topaz version one as want to have a decent size shower are to use onboard. Is there much difference in mpg between the petrol and diesel accepting diesel will be a tad slower. thanks again
Hi….Thanks for so much for subscribing! Regarding your MPG question, I’m guessing a diesel engine would be more economical over longer journeys. Ours is a petrol engine, but we try and drive as economically as possible. Maybe someone else might have a better answer in the comments……
thank you lovely
You’re welcome 😊
Great bid guys. Been there many times. Its one of those areas that keep dragging you back. Enjoy your trip Paul.
Thanks for the comment Paul! Glad you enjoyed the vid 🙂
Enjoy your travels 👏
Thank you! 🙂
That's was a smashing vid guy's! Paul& Lin❤
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
I’m currently looking to buy a camper and the auto sleeper is the one I tend to favour, you said yours is a petrol and I was wondering, does it run on e10 or do you have to use e5 ? Also what MPG roughly are you getting ? I was looking at diesel vans for fuel economy but when they go wrong they cost a hell of a lot more to put right.
Hi….Good question. Ours actually can run on both (although we always use e10). I think the cut off for e5 was Sept 2000 and Basil was built in Jan 2000. With regards to MPG, we’re not too sure. It obviously depends on how loaded we are. For long journeys where we are fully loaded we pump our tyres up to 55 all round and we try and drive economically (Basil isn’t built for speed anyway!).
See you are in Autosleepers Motorhome (I’m also a Autosleepers owner) Are you aware there is a Autosleepers Owners Club which has a number of rallies all over the UK each year (a relatively small friendly club) If your heading up north on the M6 there is the orginal farm shop type that’s worth a visit to stock up with local produce. Terry & Adrienne
Hi…thanks for the comment. I know, we really should look to join the Autosleepers Owners Club. It would be fun to go to one of those rallies! 🙂
Went to Cartref last month for a few days. Lovely site and staff. However, sixteen quid for two glasses on wine is a bit OTT ❤
Hi….Yes, we thought it was a lovely site too. That does sound expensive for 2 glasses of wine! The bottle of red we bought from the bar was £15
We live near Gloucester services and there’s very little difference between north and south bound. They are both really lovely.
Hi….Thanks for the comment. That’s good to know. We were very impressed with Gloucester services 👍🏻🙂
Welcome to Shropshire, Shrewsbury s my home town .
We loved our short (but sweet) stay in Shropshire. We would love to go back and do it justice one day ❤️🙂
And mine 👍 Shrewsbury, born and bred😁

Another great video guys. I am at another of the sites you stayed at - Bath Chew Valley - in Lil, The Lil'est Hobo campervan.
Hi….glad you enjoyed the video. We really enjoyed the Bath Chew Valley campsite. Have you walked around that lake yet? 🙂
Nice to see you both again we are out in Fudge in a few days thats our Autosleeper Symbol 2003 Jen works in book keeping and you are a policeman?
Hiya! Glad to hear you’re getting out and about in Fudge…..What trip do you have planned?

Nice to see you back guys! Smashing vid! Copper?😅 Paul & Lin Dorset.
Hi! Glad you liked the video…..Nope, neither of us are Copper’s 😂
The van does everything you need. I now know how the van would function in day to day life when traveling, so thanks for sharing,
Hi…Thanks for your comment! I’m glad you found this particular video helpful. 🙂
We have just brought the same van, yesterday in fact. Great videos more of the same please 😊
Awesome!! We hope you have lots of adventures in your camper...Have you named your van yet? We’ve just got back (literally today) from two weeks away in Basil, so we’ll be editing all our footage into 3/4 videos soon. Stay tuned!! 🙂
2 minute walk to dog in, sorry I nearly wet myself when you said that. I just saw the funny side, my mind must be full of trash, 😆 🦮ing
😂😂😂
Arrr, thank you so much . We tried him out last night .was a little tricky as we realised it's definitely not like driving any of our cars, lol . Douglas being 35 years old, the gearbox is quite tricky to manoeuvre, nothing wrong with it, but you have to take it out of gear to put it in each gear , Hope that makes sense . Also, we drove at night after louis finished work. As it's an old camper, the back lights on the dash are naturally dimmer, so we had to really look to check the speed . Coolant light has come on , so we are going to get that checked today . Have a great weekend 😊
Wow, you’re brave driving him at night for the first time! I’m sure you’ll have lots of adventures with him 🙂
@@theealesadventures lol thankyou . I think we will be driving him in the day mostly .the light on the dash is very dim .😊
great tour around, I was enjoying this until, toenail clippers in the same drawer with kitchen bits, please FFS tell me you were kidding, I'm not house proud by any means but that's just Grose.
Hahaha…..thanks for the comment 🙂😎
Hi how did you attach your the unit ? .thankyou fir the vidio 😊
Hi….When you say “the unit” did you mean our EcoFlow?
Hi .ive inly just started watching your videos. We are viewing twi campervans this weekend , both a 1993 talbot express autosleeper . Super excited and pleased to come across this vidio particually aa we live only 15 mins from the new forest . Thankyou so mivh fot taking the time to post your vidios , really looking forward to watching them .❤
Hi….Thank you for your kind comment. We’re glad you enjoyed this video and we hope you enjoy watching the others. How exciting for you to view to campervans this weekend! Which ever campervan you choose, you’ll be able to start having your own adventures! All the best 🙂
Hi .I've only just started watching your videos and they are great. My partner and I are looking at two campervans this weekend . A 1993 talbot express ( Rambo ) . We gave quite a few questions to ask them and also we will obviously take a good look over them . Would be most grateful for any suggestions on what to ask , where to look on the van .
Hi thanks for the comment…..Sorry in the delayed reply. We thought we had posted a reply (but obviously hadn’t!). I’d look for any obvious rust under the wheel arches and check the MOT history online. How did your viewing of ‘Rambo’ go?
@@theealesadventuresthe viewing of the talbot was not to good .the inside of the wheel arches wgere crumbling and black smoke was coming out of the exhaust ( petrol ) , so we said no to that .we. bought a vw LT ( 1989) called Douglas😊 😊😊😊
Congrats on your new camper! Douglas is a great name 👍🏻 You definitely made the right decision avoiding that Talbot! 🙂
Had you thought of joining the Autosleepers Owners Club many rallies each year and meet up with fellow Autosleepers owners many with similar aged motorhomes as yours right up to present day production models.
Hi….thanks for the comment. Yeah, we really should join that group! Sounds like a lot of fun and would be cool to hang out with fellow Autosleeper owners 👍🏻
Another great video from you! Just a quick question, what edging did you use from Amazon for the bathroom window? We have the same van and would like to put one on. 👍🏼
Hi…thanks for the comment. We’re glad you enjoyed the video. Here’s the Amazon link to the edging we used for the bathroom window t.ly/JGrMM 🙂
@@theealesadventures thank you so much 👍🏼 x
No problem 🙂
Thank you for a very informative video, love the tips. How many times do you fill and empty the tanks with fresh water to flush out the puiriclean? I have the exact same van as you, I'd love to see a run though of how everything works with and without EHU and perhaps one on how the maintain the blinds and replace curtains? Thanks again, much appreciated.👍
Hi…thanks for the comment we’re glad you found the video informative. To answer your question, twice. After leaving the Puriclean to do its work (a couple hours, but over night is best) drain it through then fill with clean water and flush twice. Perhaps we’ll do another video sometime to cover the curtains and also covering how we use the van with/without EHU. 🙂
nice video,, did watch until the end, will subscribe for more of your videos. i also have a question,,, i noticed that you was hooked up to a tv socket, how long was your cable and what ends are they ? male to female etc etc thank you .... Roger
Hi….thanks for your comment, glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for subscribing. The TV cable we bought in Argos, whilst we away somewhere. We got 10 meters (because the 15 meters wasn’t in stock, but 10 meters has been fine). It’s listed on the Argos website as ‘10m Aerial Extension Lead - White’
