It’s on the list, for now I’m going to check the shop and see what I have I can use.

oh cool another LS swap..
Can’t go wrong with an LS, love it or hate it they’re pretty great
Awesome man can’t wait to see the next steps!
Already in the works bud. Stay tuned
@@outlawupholstery yesssss
Heck yeah!
Love that when your work responds with satisfaction of a running engine!😅
Yes definitely! I was pretty scared just pulling this Stepvan from the weeds. Highly impressed!
how could the pistons not be all rusted to the cylinders after all that time?
Not sure, I was amazed myself. Turned it over by hand just to see if it was tight and it turned right over. Pulled the plugs and they weren’t bad either. Built them to last back then for sure!
@@outlawupholstery that's amazing. I've seen others start up old sitting engines and I've never been able to understand how it wasn't a block of rust. One of life's mysteries I guess!
@@BernWag chromed walls I dunno
Guy bought an English Rolls Royce motor for salvage in a crate. It had no rust damage. He fashioned a Ford carb. Poured oil in and ordered new X 4 plugs. Put two 12 volt batteries in line. Checked gap. Started after 70 yrs!
That’s amazing. This Stepvan was parked in 99. I checked oil, cleaned the points, added a little fuel and fired right up. I’ve seen newer engines have to be tore down after a few years of sitting.

Nice
she is beautiful! i want one
I’ve been looking for one for a long time. I was hoping for a stub nose but this one will do. Keep an eye out you might find one laying around
@@outlawupholstery yes im keeping my eyes open for one specially a short one like yours it look so cool
@@outlawupholstery OMG i just bought a 1978 P10 steel body, i can't believe i got one!
@philipthemechanic5782 congratulations! You’ll have to share your progress. I’ve looked for years and found one in a field. Currently going through the wiring and getting some new tires for mine
Nice job Josh ❤
Did you use the stock frame or did you swap that? I’m about to start an ls in a 52 but I was hoping to use the stock frame
Hey bud, I’m sitting on a s10 chassis. If I had it to do over again I would’ve left the stock chassis. 8 years ago they were real big with s10 swaps. Easier to get parts for brakes, rotors, etc at the time
@@outlawupholsterythanks for the reply. I picked up a ls swap job and I ordered some “bolt on” 47-54 Chevy truck ls mounts thinking this would be an easy drop in swap but after pulling the motor I’m seeing that these are in fact not bolt in unless I change the crossmember to mustang2, which requires manual rack and new steering column and control arms and sway bar and idk what else. I just feel bad that I have to go down a rabbit hole with the customer. I expected around $6k to do a basic swap but it seems it may be more.
@Desert_guy I always plan on worst case. It’s never as easy as possible. My first swap I was able to do real cheap but there’s things I would do differently. My problem is I had a person I gave parts to to pull the donor engine, harness, pedal and pump and that turned into a lot of damage and missing parts. So this one has turned into a little more that what I planned but hey it’s part of the journey.
@@outlawupholstery I ended up setting the motor and trans in. The only issue i see is the steering box. I heard I can put spacers and move it over and the header should clear. Changing to a manual rack and pinion would require more suspension work and parts. I’m gonna try the spacer method and see how w it goes. So far it’s a fun project
@Desert_guy good luck with it buddy! I’d love to see you get it going. Just remember small steps become huge progress over time. Just don’t stop!
Cant wait to here it run
aha, it 's 3 prongs cold heading tee nuts
I took off my dome light pulled it real tight glued it just in that section and put dome light back on and it worked. Looks great. This was easy compared to video if only back half is sagging. This was on a 4th gen t top Firebird.
In my experience once the material is sagging and you try and Reglue using the adhesive I use in shop it bleeds through. If you use aerosol adhesive, one good warm day will come loose again. I hope it stays up though. Good luck bud
Was it converted to a dually
Not really sure on the history. The door just has a badge on it that says 2500, title says Chevrolet Cheyenne. Could’ve had a door swapped at one time
Doing a good job boy
Sweet interior work brother!!!
Thank you, just some old stuff I had laying around to throw together!
Beautiful work my guy!
Thank you
Man you would not believe the difficulty I had trying to leave a comment on the suburban I just watched. I was going to tell you if you can hardly keep those are all Chevy's down. Little cleaning up that she'll be a nice daily ride. I guess it's unplugged on to this video with red Camaro watch it now lol. God bless
Hey buddy, idk what’s wrong with it I’m new to doing this UA-cam gig myself so I’ve messed something up on commenting and stuff but I have a few squares and others I’ll be introducing to my channel but this one was by far one of the easiest! Having an issue with my choke currently but the other video is almost done.. stay tuned and I appreciate the comment also have a few how to’s planned too
I got a Z28 as my first car. I’m not very mechanic savvy with it. When I looked under the hood I saw a part missing from the AC because the end of the tube was not connected to the unit. Kinda like a bushing or seal was missing, what do you recommend I do? Or where do I go to find a part for it?
Go to your local junk yard. You’ll usually find about 2-4 gen 4s at any yard in my experience
Does that DAP weldwood cement dry hard? Is the headliner brittle to the touch under the fabric after it dries?
What was the Spray? Was it a prime?
I use a DAP weld wood contact adhesive. I’ve never personally had good luck with aerosol spray adhesives. It looses its bond when heat is applied and the weld wood works great. It’s pretty expensive though
2500 dually? but no top markers hmmm butwhat do i know about gm dually???
I spoke to GM on this truck and they said that in 88-91 the 3500 trucks were still used in the square body lineup. This dually is 89 and not all duallys had top markers. Depends on how the truck was ordered. I was confused I’ve never seen a dually badged as a 2500 but from what General Motors told me that was the reason.
@@outlawupholstery sweet, thank you for that knowledge. I appreciate it. Now I know.🤙🏽💯
@@outlawupholstery and thank you for reaching out. 💯
No worries buddy
Thanks for the helpful info, God bless!
Godbless you as well. Goodluck
What color was the replacement headliner? Just basic grey? Thanks for the video!
That was a standard gray headliner material, should be able to pick up at your local fabric store. Make sure to get the older style headliner.. newer looks like it has a design or holes and it doesn’t do well with stretching around curves and in dips.
this is very simple process the way you do it. I have to rip out my headliner and restore mine and change up the color. lol #4thgenproblems
Goodluck buddy, take your time and you’ll do fine.
just picked up a 95 T Top camaro, the headliner is toast. Thanks for sharing, informative video.
Goodluck!
Didn’t think they made a 2500 dually
We talk a little about it in the next video. Look for the clip with josh under the truck. We will be doing a video on vin/package & possibly talking to the previous owners of the truck.
🤣😂🤣 Bro get a microphone so you can hear what you're saying 😂🤣😂
