    So you shot the sheriff uhm...I mean the thumper. Great job man. ENJOYED this. Might I suggest though that you place your entire rig out of the way or right next to a wall or in a position where you will not brush against it when you pass by. Just a suggestion. I have seen it move when you pass against it. CHEERS man. PEACE!!!

    Why didn’t you add 1st and last jar?

    • @dronepilot1290
      @dronepilot1290 26 днів тому

      They say the first jar is called the heads which can have high proof but not much flavor yet. And the last jar is called the tails and has lot of oils in it. You can drink them which I before. I just put them aside to add back into another run down the road. If you watch some of my other videos I have zoomed in on my last jars and it shows the oils going into the jars.

      I have been wanted to a cutting video. I think I will do it with the pineapple. The first couple of jars smell hot and then it goes away as I get into the hearts.

    Not trying to be mean but you are doing a lot of things wrong. Always try to siphon your wash and rack it at least once in order to avoid the nasty trubb, sediment or white waste material on the bottom it will improve your flavor profile immensely. There is a lot of things going on here that i hate to see other new people copy and start them off in error. That condenser is not adequate for that column and its out of proportion, not enough water to cool the vapor . Just redo the whole thing after a little research and this hobby will be a lot more fun and less dangerous. Please do some reading and learn some basic rules and procedures. By spreading misinformation is detrimental to legalizing this hobby and will steer people away as well. Sorry not trying to be a jerk you seem like a nice guy and very personable hope your channel grows but just spend a couple hours reading so you can present good content instead of how not to do things. You owe it to the people not to teach bad, dangerous procedures, please sir. Be more responsible

    Just a FYI… anytime you distill a fruit fermentation there is a significant amount of methanol in the first 3/4 to full pint of production. It’s best to heat up the still slowly, especially from 150F to 175F. Because methanol evaporates at a lower temperature, this allows it enough time to escape before the good spirits start to come. Any spirits produced before 175° should be discarded. The slower you distilled the better the product you will have. 185 is about the max heat required in the pot.

    One small piece of advice. Instead of pouring it. Leave it resting all settled and siphon off the liquid til you get down to the yeast bed. You’re taking a cleared wash and mixing it back up as you are trying to move it

    Your condenser sure is huffin, cause of crash cooling . Let the heat come down condenser about half way and it will quit

    Not here to dispute what you say but those jars look like pints to me not quarts, if you got 7 quarts out of 10 gals. that translates into 20% alcohol not many yeasts that I or the industry know of can withstand that. Also some friendly advice Safety First, Last and ALWAYS. make sure your work area in decluttered of tripping hazards give yourself enough room to walk by without the possibility of knocking over the unit, also when working with open flame ventilation is an issue or lack of should I say otherwise great job...cheers

    Squeezing the bag seriously defeats the purpose if you are impatient grab the bottom corner and lift it slightly to utilize unused parts of the filter bag then the other bottom corner if necessary. Don't squeeze it especially for the final racking. The other recommendation is keep your fermenter tilted for a few days prior to racking and tilt your receiving vessel at the start of 1st racking . This will give you a nice bare section of floor to siphon from . All the trub will be on the othet side. Cat litter (bentonite) is used a lot for clearing wine but we ain't stopping at wine 😉.

    So, I know that the old timers would use a coon pecker to help with the drip. I see that you're using a piece of copper. Is that just a piece of ground wire??? Whatever it is, good idea!

    Nice video! I Love the all copper still!! I made mine as well! Why would you want to put the heads back in your still? Did you mean to say "Tails" ? I use the temp of the vapor to determine when to cut the still off! When I get to 190 degrees I cut the hearts off and call anything that comes out my tails and when I get to 200 in the pot that is when I shut the gas off and let things cool down from there - I add that last amount that was collected back into the next batch to catch the remaining alcohol. I want to make some peach shine this next season so thanks for sharing your methods!! Keep making videos!!! I always enjoy watching how others make their shine!

    I ferment on-grain, so similar problem as you with the transfer to boiler. I use an auto siphon inside a tall stainless steel hop spider, which acts as a filter. They're cheap <$25. I also brew beer, so the hop spider is multi-functional !!!

    I think you would be better off throwing that gallon ice jug in the res bucket as you want to surround the top part with as much thermal mass as you can aka pull the heat from it and water does that much better I would even keep an eye out for maybe a shipping tube you could seal with silicone to make a custom ice maker for that purpose
