PROJECT LEATHER // Stop Tearing Up Your Arms!
How to make leather atlas stone sleeves or vambraces for cosplay, archery, or for fun!
A step by step tutorial on how to make a heavy duty leather atlas stone sleeve for the sport of Strongman. We'll talk about techniques and considerations for your first stone sleeve/vambrace.
In this video, we've created a make-along format that explains the most important parts of making a leather stone sleeve. This leather project is very simple to make and can be finished within a day with machine stitching and if you're keen, you can also finish it in a day with hand stitching. Of course you don't need to add a liner to the sleeve if you're not using it for heavy duty work, the flesh side on the leather should work just fine. If you'd like a liner, you can use leather cement for the whole thing and not need to stitch, however, it's recommended to stitch this piece since it will be near your skin and will get moist. ooo moist.
If you don't have tools and are in (or planning to visit) Vancouver, BC, Canada, you can come and take a workshop with us! Go to lonsdaleleatther.com/collections/workshops to find out more!
We can't wait to see what you'll make!
If you have any questions, feel free to email us at info@lonsdaleleather.com or visit us at 76 West 6th Avenue in Vancouver, BC.

Shane and Dom take you inside Mexico's top technologically advanced shoe last factory. Shoe lasts have been documented to be used as early at 400BCE by the Romans and still is an essential tool used today in modern shoemaking. From sneakers to dress shoes, creating a shoe starts with a last. "Laest" meaning footprint in old English, precisely describes its use. In modern day shoemaking, high de...

Nice work! ❤
Thank you! Nina does an incredible job with all the shoes we have displayed at the shop 🤩
143.5 pounds
try again 🔥
It would be really cool if you offered other normal sizes like 45................
👍
thank you!
Beurtiful.
Thank you! Will you make one too?
I'll guess 54lbs 3oz.
try again 🔥
@@lonsdaleleather I really have no idea, so for this guess I'll go with 15lbs 7.5oz. here's hoping 🤞
Homie, just put the actual time. This isn't 24. If that was 30 seconds, I'm literally your dad.
500 lbs ??
try again 🔥
74 pounds!
try again 🔥
My guess would be 320 pounds.
try again 🔥
183 lbs?? 😛
try again 🔥
I’m a gonna say 450 lbs
try again 🔥
@@lonsdaleleather210.5 lbs
Big strong dude, makes throwing around tones of leather look easy. How can we guess 😊
I say it weighs 413 pounds 🤪
try again 🔥
Aw man, im so bad at these 😅 I'll guess 258 lbs. Or 7oz to be silly. ;)
try again 🔥
212 lbs
try again 🔥
150lb 🤔
try again 🔥
@@lonsdaleleather 242 lb 🫡
I’m gonna guess 283 lbs all together
try again 🔥
My best estimate of the weight is something around 173 pounds of leather. Not including the plastic totes or bags.
Also not including any other containers.
try again 🔥
@@lonsdaleleather How about 78 pounds?
try again 🔥
165 pounds.
I would make more stitching holes in toe area. It's a cute shoe, but those puling marks make it look a little sloppy.
i love your energy. im not a leatherworking artist myself but youve earned a new sub!
5:45 has me rolling
the fact that its on cue to the music is what gets me
This was awesome; extremely satisfying to watch!! Makes me want some leather gear…. 👀
So satisfying to make as well 🤩
💪
🪨 💪
😅
😅 😂
THAT'S AMAZING
Hello-lo-lo-lo-lo-lo (echo). I've discovered a cave! It's dark in here.
Must be a really good cave! Wifi and everything 😆
Nice Titty Pack. 😂
Lol we're all #latebloomers. Lol
#relatable
"Last" time I went to Mexico I rented a car with my medicare card. Told the guy it was a Canadian license. You should tattoo your entire left foot blue. Cheers from Montreal. 🤺
Hello Montreal! And the medicare card it still worked? Incredible! Just the left foot?
@@lonsdaleleather Or the right one , you decide. 😉
Interesting video but your title is misleading. A tannery does not MAKE hides, the animal makes them. The correct verb to use for a tannery is "process".
Wow!!! 🎉🎉🎉
🤩 will you be making one as well?!
😢so good
So easy to make! Will you be making one?
Muy bien gracias sin tantas herramientas con una aguja y todo el material😊
¡Es un proyecto muy fácil si sigues los pasos! ¿Harás uno?
That's incredible! I love the tools involved, but I'm never sure if I know how to use them or not. Was that a router bit for a Dremel, for the trim of the edge? Looked like that, but I wasn't sure what it was. Thank you!
No fear, we're here to help! The router bit is a burnishing tool bit that we sell at the shop. It fits most household Dremel sizes
So much leather! I didn't know there were that many cattle on the planet.
isn't it incredible?! And this is only one tannery in Mexico
Hilarious! 😂
The Maremma is well loved, what can we say?
Thanks for bringing big flames to leatherwork 🎉
WITH CAUTION of course 🔥haha
That 1/4in square tip is going to change the game for me, thank you!
no bulge, no problem 😎
Yes, that is an amazing tip!
U really dont need music your voice & tools is enough, i promise....
This is amazing feedback! Now I don't need to look for background music. Thank you!
@@lonsdaleleather Honestly... I like the way these videos are evolving, the music is a great touch. It helps me digest the information and breaks up the instructions well. If it's too much of a slow down for creating content, I definitely get it but it feels A+ for me as a viewer. A lot of the builder channels I watch edit similarly and it engages me. Whatever feels right for y'all, though. :)
@@lonsdaleleather Nah I say keep it. Helps it feel finished, especially when you arent actively talking
@@jeremiahack Thanks for the feedback! I thought the music could make it more of a conversational approach instead of me being the teacher and you have to listen to my voice and my voice only 😅
@@Glorfindel_117 Thank you! It also covers the ambient noise in the studio and the streets. It's hot in here, gotta open the windows 🔥
please no circus music, i want to HEAR THE TOOLS WORKING!!! good job...
The tools do make some satisfying sounds, I agree! Thank you 😊
@@lonsdaleleather Maybe we can have circus music only when Shane is in the shot?
@@daverooni7763 We'll have him wear the old time strongman leotards
I beleve it is in lefarc tannery in leon guanajuato mexico. No body in the video said what company was.
I didn't kick you out! I swear :-) You are always welcome! Love this tutorial, you make it look so easy
For the record, Nina didn't kick me out
Just gently pushed me out the door 😆Because it IS easy!
Top
These look really nice. I am going to order the kit to make my wife a pair.
Thank you! Let us know how you find the project when you're finished!
Where do you get that stitching groover from?
You can get it on our website! lonsdaleleather.com/products/owden-adjustable-groover?_pos=2&_sid=97073b7ec&_ss=r
Do I really need to purchase another tool to remove the zipper teeth or can I get away with using some pliers? 🤔 Thanks , Great tutorial.
Pliers will work just fine! The snips are more just to force the teeth open. Thank you!
Exactly what I need to learn for an upcoming project ! Thanks
Let us know how it goes! What kind of project will you be working on?
😂😂😂
😅
Magnus ftw 😂
all day everyday!
Black, Natural
Black thread with natural leather 🤔 that would an insane combo actually!
