I'm a purest nothing has been changed or rigged everything has either been replaced with factory replacements or cleaned and reused. I even found a brand new air box complete with new hoses and everything and installed new clamps I have been threw everything except the clutches maybe there sticky or gummed up.
Do either of you guys know where I can get the whole brake system for the 82 cart I have the pedal still attached but there are no pads or adjusters in the hubs somebody took everything out before it got to me thanks for any info
Also Changed crank seals just to change them. Exhaust butterfly valve working perfect and adjusted properly. New belt and new carb. Full tune up runs great just slow. Its 13 degrees here today and it will fire up with no choke and runs amazing. So I'm assuming it has to be dirty clutches from sitting... would you agree? How fast does yours go?
Devan S. That’s too high compression for the 82 - take off the head and check that the exhaust side of the jug isn’t gunked up. It’ll give false compression readings
I'm sorry. I ment for the governor to "off" which way did you zip tie it? I've done everything else but feels like the governor is still engaged I cant get over 16mph
Devan S. Sorry - not sure what you’re asking... The video is shot from me standing on the passenger side - and the cable runs back around the driver side when done. I say “air box” but I mean the air cover for the jug
Thank you Great info! What was the difference in speed? Thanks
From about 13 to near 20
hat about your exhaust outlet valve
Hi Matt, Do you ever do the oil change on 2 stokes yamaha golf cart?
Oil change? It’s a 2 stroke; there’s no oil to change.
@@matthewgiresi9903 not even transmission?
@@Nguyentantoanthere is no transmission. It’s a single cylinder engine that rotates one direction in drive, the other direction in reverse.
@@matthewgiresi9903 Thanks Matt!
Just got a 1978 g1. Old neighbor just gave it too me. It's missing the secondary clutch and I'm struggling to find one. Any suggestions?
This guy helps people a LOT more than others on YT
Where can I get hinge pin
Any cotter pin you can split will work. Ace hardware, Home Depot etc sells little sets of them
Sorry,I didnt mean cotter pin I meant the hinge that goes on carb ball
@@robertwilson2545 that’s the factory piece that should already be attached on there
For some reason I can not find the attachment
Is it possible you can send me link for hinge I know you said it should on here already but I can not find it i would greatly appreciate it thanks
Does yours sputter at low rpm?
What spring Did you put on the throttle?
No spring. Bypassed that. The gas pedal spring engages and releases the throttle.
When bypassing the governor what do you do with the exhaust butterfly?
Brian Boles remove it or lock it open
@@matthewgiresi9903 What does that butterfly do.?? Why did you bypass all that stuff?? I'm thinking about it, not sure if i should
The exhaust butterfly allows for greater exhaust flow when you increase throttle. It’s completely unnecessary
@@matthewgiresi9903 But why would they want to decrease the flow (closed) ??
You wouldn’t. Which is why you remove it.
Good video dude, thank you!!

Devan S. Same here. Put the rear on jack stands and block the front wheels and rev it up. See if the clutch is moving freely

Kvishon91 it’s the same brake system as the other years - eBay is your best bet
Mine is also a 82 g1 j17. That's why I asked u because i finally saw somebody who had one identical as mine.
Sorry to nag you I'm just pretty stumped at this point.

@@GS-fi8pj sorry - don’t have the cart anymore.
130 psi of compression. It was never used the cart sat for 30 years. 1 owner I'm thinking clutches need lubricated. I appreciate your help

Devan S. I zip-tied it with the arm pulled towards the air box. 16 mph, check your compression and your belt
Which way is it when the governor is off? Looking down from the air box side? Towards you or away from you
