Kohler 10kw Marine generator CAV injection pump rebuild
Переглядів 123Рік тому
Yet another project, this is a Kohler 10kw marine diesel generator that my father put together on a trailer to turn into a backup generator for our house. After deleting the mechanical lift pump due to the valves being completely stuck due to tar and gum build up I ended up rebuilding the injection pump due to no flow to the injectors. As you can see at the end of the video it fired right up af...
What went wrong in my Unimog 404 differential?
Переглядів 1,3 тис.Рік тому
In this video I look at what went wrong and was causing the cross pin for the spider gears to have so much play. The 404 differential uses thrust washers behind the spider gears to space them away from the housing, mine were heavily worn and allowing a lot of movement in the pin and gears and one side was starting to wear on the housing itself. Replacement parts have been ordered from expeditio...

Side project #2 | Mule Yanmar diesel engine
Переглядів 9903 роки тому
Picked up this little Yanmar diesel engine out of a Kawasaki Mule DXT for next to nothing. The previous owner was running a K&N air filter that failed and let a ton of dirt into the engine which cause a loss in compression on 2.5 cylinders. I'm gonna hope for a simple hone job and some rings but wont know for sure until I can get some valve springs off and check for play in the guides. People h...
Cutting, grinding, and a bit of welding | mocking up the cab and engine.
Переглядів 8413 роки тому
In this episode I finish welding the engine mount enough to remove the hoist and set the cab back on so we can see how much we need to cut to fit around the om617 turbo diesel. Progress has been slower as its getting pretty hot in the shop and I'm finding that I'm better at being a mechanic than I am at body work. If you would like to support the mog build and other projects you may consider su...
Odd jobs and working on the Unimog

In this video I put the starter back on our Kubota A5000 generator that got us through the 2021 Ice storm in Oregon, and do an oil change on my 2014 CB1100 to get ready for riding season. I also show off the new to me Millermatic 150 I got from a friend to replace my old Airco mini pro 125 as parts are no longer available, It took an entirely different welder for me to finally understand the di...

Hello My name is iulian. I appreciate your videos.I was watching your videos and I did not understand when you mention to lock your differential before you pull the Axel . So I pull the right side without locking the differential If the locker fall out what can I do and how to put it back?
Les tips de moteurs diesel adapté unimog 404
where abouts in Oregon? I'm up in Bellingham. I have a couple 404's here
That music was different, I didn't know if I was watching a unimog video, or going to get dental work done
👍
Having an issue with my Mog 404…it’s shuttering real bad when I brake, but it’s not the brakes. The front doff is making some noise like clicking or missing. Not sure the problem
Hi, to change top seal is still necessary to remove bearings and gears?
Hello, which seal are you referring to?
This video is pure gold.... it is great to find information, tricks and tips to assembling the 404 portal boxes and axles... THANKS!
Decent bud
Thanks for sharing. What would we do without Scott?
Spend less money!
👍
I really liked the intro. Diffs get tore up but it's good it'll be back together and sorted!
Oh fuck, buddy. Soon you'll have er all fixed up and she'll be skookum as frig. Send it!
Good job! Thanks for the nice video. It will help with my unimog 404 repairs. I recently bought a 404 and will be repairing it. I'm waiting for more videos. Regards.
Thanks, progress has been slow over the holidays.
Good
I like your videos!
Thank you very much!
Terrifying. Make it faster.
No idea how fast we were actually going, need to grab the old Garmin and go for another drive when I get the rear brakes rebuilt
osum build!!#customoods #findingretreat #srilanka
Thank you very much for showing this ! It will help me a lot on mine Great ins from Namibia
I'm guessing there are torque wrenches that can torque a bolt that high, but I've not heard of them. I guess truck workshops have them
Yeah there are but they are appropriately expensive, one community member said their way was to calculate the distance needed using their own body weight to achieve appropriate torque on the bolts
@@RestoMog i have to say, that sounds a bit dodgy.
@@Hipporider I don't completely disagree but the math makes sense.
Very Nice, i recently bought a 404S. Looking forward to see yours, and mine running again!
Nice!
I love the koni's! I gonna get them someday
Unimog videos are my jam!
So much heavy metal!

Cool, like the plans what engine du you have, stock turbo? what turbo du you have and what alternator are you going to use? i am also lookinig for alternator but V belt only handel 90 amp and want one whit nut style connctor insead of the old spade plugg
The stock engine had already been removed and replaced with a Mercedes om617 3.0l 5 cylinder turbo diesel, I have upgraded the turbo to a Holset HE221w. The om617 swap group on facebook has found a Bosch alternator that bolts up and has the correct spacing to use the stock v belt pulley.
You have earned my subscription dude ✌️
Thank you, I should have more parts and more videos coming within the next month.
@@RestoMog good stuff
Good video. is there 2nd part ?
Working on it slowly at the moment, I recently changed jobs and am getting caught up again.
Great pull down tutorial. I've got to get into the hubs on my Swiss Mog soon and this video was just the ticket!
Glad I could be of assistance, I've noticed a lack of "how to" videos for mogs and hope to fill in some of the more common things.
My front axle is leaking a tiny bit on the driver side. But it is the axle not the portal. So I might need to change the seals 😭
its not a terrible job to just pull the knuckle off the housing complete. Bring it by and I can help you get it done 🤣
Nice video, taking time and effort bringing this knowledge to us!
Really interested in seeing this baby run :P
Diesel!!! Why that?
That's the way I bought it and really the turbo diesel makes it more more useable day to day.
@@RestoMog then you should (must) remove the ochsenkopf logo from your account since your vehicle has nothing to do with original Unimog.
@@Superleicht_R107 so using the original chassis, transmission, axles, suspension, cab, and bed frame don't make it a mog, just the engine?
@@RestoMog It's just so that ALL Unimog (no plural!!) have a Diesel engine. Except the 404. That is one of the special thing about the 404. Therefore it is wrong to make it a Diesel. BUT! There were about 40 pieces in the later years which were delivered to the portuguise army with an OM (oil motor) i. e. Diesel. But more than 64.200 pieces were build with the original M180/II and M130 engine. The purpose of owning an oldtimer is to preserve it (in original condition). So talk to your 404 and if it answers in portuguise, it will be ok. Otherwise the engine is a sacriledge. ;-)
Looks like it was a good time. :)
Dare I say that I am the mythical first for commenting? Keep getting it!
if you made it a Diesel, it's a sacrilege
I bought it with the Diesel already, the diesel is one of the best upgrades you can do to a 404, I'd be interested to hear why you don't like them diesel.
@@RestoMog Just because it is not "original". I have one of the first build 404.111 of 1955 and it is important to keep it as it was build. With such a massive change I wouldn't get the H-numberplate for historic vehicles.
@@Superleicht_R107 I'm in North America so there is no H license plate for me, they only thing left of the truck other than the frame and axles was the cab so this is long past being "original" I intend to use this as a regular truck and the diesel is a massive improvement.
@@RestoMog OMG, you Americans have not culture at all 😂🤣😂🤣
@@Superleicht_R107 you sound boring. Bloke got it with a diesel in, everyone knows the original engines in these are no good for anything other than hauling
Toit!
Having a lift makes life so easy. Looking great!
Error 404 MOG not found
How is it to work on a metric truck as an american? :D
That one with the pipe is a general toolbox with jerrycan holder. not sure why that pipe is. never seen it
Thanks Victor, I really am curious what that pipe was for.
Container Homes are so 2010, Mog Body Homes are the Future!
Keep working hard. Proud of ya. :)
Nothing like having 2 to get 1 built! This is a huge step man!
1:33 "sorry grandma were going to destroy your bush" I couldnt help myself
Nice job, can’t wait to see the mog finished.👍
Thank you, progress is slow but steady I think.
Really looking forward to seeing where this goes. Hopefully not on the ground next time.
Thank you very much, you're site and employees have been very helpful in finding some of the parts for this old engine.
I wanna see the engine fall again 👍Can't wait to see this build come along, keep us posted!
Lovely engine! 😃
Thanks Victor, hopefully in the next episode you get to see it dressed up again.
