The tax laws on income are the same concept as taxes on vice products. They are designed to ellicit changes in behaviour. Of course people are going to leave when it is made it clear to them that you get punished if you work harder and earn more or if you have assets in the UK when you pass. If I was a Brit I'd already be out and have all my assets out too.

I've gone already, friends and family are doing so and we are of modest means, not a cash millionaire amongst us. Just the vision of a UK future under labour that will skin us alive and monitor, restrict, charge us for every move we make.

The UK spent two years paying most of the population to stay home and not work for 80% of their salary. I don't know what people expected would happen. One published statistic was that the UK spent as much on this scheme in three months as 10 miserable years of austerity saved. This was the grossest mismanagement of an economy - ever. The second point would be that the political elites were always pandering to the European Union and Brussels as this is a natural career progression. Europhiles like Clegg and Cameron saw their careers progressing towards that. Davos and the WEF is the new EU for these people.
