TrebleWoofer Pens
Приєднався 29 гру 2017
This is my second channel which is dedicated entirely to pens and writing instruments. I review them and discuss my thoughts on what I like and don't like about a particular pen. The focus will be on fountain pens however I might add styluses, ballpoints, rollerballs, gel, mechanical pencils, and other writing tools I find interesting.

[14] Restoration: 1920's Waterman's 55 fountain pen
Переглядів 18 тис.4 роки тому
I was needing a larger pen, so I got one! A Waterman's 55. It came in near user-grade condition, but that's what I can afford! Cleaned up to working order, not a full restoration as I just wanted it to work.
[13] Composing with a Music Nib
Переглядів 6 тис.4 роки тому
Just for fun, here's a little sample of how I write music with my unmarked music nib. The body is a Conklin, but the nib isn't. Not my favorite nib as it is too broad for writing music for me. Either that or the staves are too small. I hold the pen at a 90 degree angle to the paper and quite high up. This allows for thin stems and thick beams. Writes very smoothly on the Alpheus Music Corp. sta...

[10] Pilot Metal Falcon Review (modern fountain pen)

One of my favorite modern pens I own. This EF semiflex nib does a rather nice job of producing thin and crisp lines.

[8] Sager Transparo Fountain Pen Review (vintage)
Переглядів 3096 років тому
In this video I review my Sager Transparo from around the late 1920s. Not much I could find on this pen so if you have more information on it please comment down below! Update as of 2019, I no longer am in possession of this pen. I traded it out.
[7] BEAUTIFUL Sheaffer-Levenger Balance Aspen Fountain Pen (Modern)
Переглядів 5656 років тому
This is probably my most gorgeous pen I have in my collection so far. It has a FeatherTouch nib which is so smooth to write with. This pen is obviously a throwback to the original Sheaffer Balance which I did a review of earlier. This pen was released around 1998 as a limited edition and came in several variants. FYI although it's called a Falcon pen, the nib itself is not an FA (Falcon nib) which has a circular cut out on each side of the nib, confusing I know.
the calligraphy: 🤤
Hey - what is the name of your fountain pen book? I would love to get a copy
Can you send a link to where to get a replacement rubber sack for it? Is this one of the thin models because I know the sacks are different for the thin vs thick model and you need a different repair kit
Whats that white powder on the ink Sack ?
One of the best restoration I have seen. Sir, instead of putting a rubber sac, can't we put a sac which is similar to that in Japanese Pilot pens. They don't crack even if the pen is unused for years. Are silicon sacs available too? Please let me know. Thanks
Oh sorry to hear that she has become ex girlfriend. I hope and pray that you become a couple again. Thanks.
My late father died in 1984, and bequeathed me his Sheafer fountain pen with a triumph nib (as I just found out from you!). It was a desk set. I’ve wanted to restore it for years, and have learned quite a bit just watching this one video! I’m not sure if the wraparound nib should detach from what appears to be the nipple for the ink sac. Can you tell me, before I ruin it? Thank you!
Very nice video and thank you for sharing your passion with a great collection of pens .
It is a pen. I have dozens of my grandfather's Duofold Jr's and the big ones. Also a case of new in the box ones!
Beautiful red Patrician. If you ever want to let that thing go, I'm yer guy! Ha.
I like Fountain Pens.
I can't hear you
Nice video! I enjoyed the commentary while you did the restoration. Very unique style to what’s out there from other content makers. Hope you keep making more of these videos.. Thanks!!
Is mark Hoover’s rubber polish still available? Where can I find it?
تستحق كل التشجيعcongratulations تانميرت إحران...أكفكا ربي الصحت..
where do you buy your lead?
Oh god you put Ancient Copper in that beauty!? That ink crusts up worse than any other ink I’ve used. If left to it’s own devices it has been known to gain sentience and begin recruiting followers…
Lol, now humiliate Sailor’s “music nib”… that two-tine/one-slit-havin’ bastard…
Bahaha, almost got me, except I have more than a few of those pesky Vectors haunting random drawers in my house. 😂
Interesting story: When I was a Young(er) Man I was a cashier at Staples. One night a lady came in with her late father’s Sheaffer asking about how she might go about filling it. At this point I only had experience with modern pens, and I had NO CLUE how to operate the snorkel. After fumbling around with it I started waxing poetic on how fountain pens were superior to the pig slop for sale these days. That must’ve touched her (NOT LIKE THAT) and she said she’d rather the pen be with someone who appreciates it. So that was how I got my first vintage pen. I still have it (in pieces, ready to be re-sac’d and re-assembled). IIRC it’s a Sentinal model with the Palladium-Silver Triumph nib.
I really dig your videos! Keep making them!
I’ve got a 32 oz (I think) bottle of Waterman’s Black I’ve been holding on to for years. It’s a lot less fun than I’d expected… Also… WHERE’S YOUR STASH OF KING’S GOLD I KNOW YOU HAVE SOME!?!?
Ever gotten your hands on a 51V? I believe they were only manufactured and sold in Canada. To the best of my Richard-Binder-stolen knowledge, it only came in red ripple, and with nickel hardware (without any cap band). The real draw is the No. 1 sized nib. I have two 51Vs, and despite them being (most likely) a budget option for Waterman at the time, the nibs offer amazing line variation. Lots of expression. And it’s always neat to see the No. 1 nib next to the No. 10 nib. 😁
I finally bot the bullet and bought a hard rubber restoration potion from Mark Hoover. I got the two polishes and the HR restoration juice, or whatever it is. I have a junk 52 body I boiled and then left in the sun for a week, just to make things interesting. We’ll see how it goes.
Also, I’m glad I’m not the only one who fills in the engravings. I’ve even got a Lady Patricia that has its body engraving filled in with red, white, and blue. Margaritas may have been involved in that decision.
Basically a low quality pen pretending to be something special.
writing on a soft carpet? WHAT THE HELL
I have a Waterman Junior Ideal 585 Gold nib and I LOVE THE NIB but HATE the tiny size of the barrel. Is there any thing I can do? I would love to take the feed section and fit it into a larger barrel section of another pen. Is this possible? Are there any good candidates that have barrels that have openings that can accept the feed secrion of this Waterman Junior???? Or I would even take a similarly sized barrel that was a non lever so I could convert to an eye dropper.
Lots of options exist for putting vintage #2 nibs in modern pens. Noodler’s Creaper or Safety is the obvious choice (and one I’ve taken advantage of for years). My favorite though is probably Ranga. They’re an Indian pen company who has TONS of great hard rubber pen styles (body styles and filler types) that take a #2 nib. If you do order a Ranga, be sure to not order the more expensive versions that offer the Schmidt/Bock/JoWo nib units. Just get the cheap ones that come with the stock steel nib. The steel nib versions will come with hard rubber feeds that are far better suited for vintage flexible (or rigid, for that matter) nibs. I currently have about 8 or 9 Rangas with old Waterman nibs and 6 or more Noodler’s with the same. I love them.
Must be defective. My Metal Falcon never railroad
How would I experince the difference between the sizes, if I were to write or draw with them?
Why aren't you posting more often? Your channel is very good.
Question: What size ink sac do you need for the 52?
Looks amazing bro. I just won my 1st eBay auction of a 52. Mines going to need restoration, and a nib adjustment. Your vid is going to help me out tremendously! Now to fine a nib adjustment vid! Ha.
Soak the nib, feed and section in water to remove dried ink. You don't want to use semi chrome in the rubber.
We try to avoid that on hard rubber pens as that will discolor the material.
@@TrebleWoofer1 I stand corrected. You are right.
Drool!
I want to get one of those M52 but not finding :/
Great review! For a pen known as the "Big Red", it is annoyingly orange.
Dear sir , today I watched the restoration of Waterman 55. I want to know from sir did you got the pen
Thanks for sharing
Waw I ❤ it
Wonderfull video! How do you get your staff paper? I have not been able to find any brand that produces any suitable for a fountain pen. Cheers!
Alpheus Music Corp staff paper from the 1960s to the 1970s
wonderful color, and patina, very cool video
Nice restoration.
Great job!👍
HI, i have Caran D'Ache Silver-Plated, Rhodium-Coated LÉMAN EBONY BLACK Fountain Pen, pen was falling on glass and strached untill brass. I see metal, how can I repare this? Do I need a lacquer and which type because I cant just polish this spot? In description says "Round brass body and cap lacquered in deep black" Thank you Jovan
I wish I had one of those cool pen
Oh no ... why did you do that? It hurt me to watch it.
Wow! Just wow! Incredible collection.
Nice work Very interesting
Hi! I like this pen. What is the model? And the nib is same model of the pen? Thanks!!!
