Dual Steering Conversion | Segment 11 - Farmall Model B Tractor
Переглядів 58Місяць тому
This video is a general overview of what is involved for a dual steering conversion on a Farmall B Tractor. I have dual steering that I did myself. It does have some complexity. This video is to help answer a group post by Ken inquiring what is involved to make a driver ed style tractor with dual steering and pedals. I just taught several middle schoolers to drive a Farmall A pulling a train. A...
NP205 Transfer Case Assembly | Segment 07: Part 2 - 1972 GMC “Jimmy”

The Transfer Case for this and many other trucks is the NP205 Transfer Case made by New Process. This is a very strong transfer case used for years in virtually the same configuration. This video walks through in some specificity the process and steps to assemble the transfer case for a complete rebuild. I did source the gaskets and seals (bearings are also available along with some gears) thro...

Restoring Vent Windows | Segment 06 - 1972 GMC “Jimmy”
Переглядів 1342 місяці тому
This video walks through the entire process of restoring the vent windows on this 1972 GMC. This is the same process for just about any 69-72 Chevy or GMC truck. The process is also the same more or less for the 1955-1959 trucks. While these vents are available as a complete reproduction for about $400 a side, they are only available in chrome, so if you need the original black style for regula...
Inner and Outer Rocker Panel Replacement | Segment 05 - 1972 GMC “Jimmy”
Переглядів 1533 місяці тому
Replacing rocker panels is definitely not for amateurs, but with a little patience and a few specialty tools, it is a task that can be completed relatively easily. Albeit in eight hours’ time. (I see posts all the time where people have gone to body shops and gotten what they think is an outlandish quote to do some incidental repair. While I am not sure I would call my self a professional, I am...
Hood Hinge Alignment | Segment 04 - 1972 GMC “Jimmy”
Переглядів 493 місяці тому
This segment looks at how to lower the rear of the hood when it remains high against the cowl cover upon closing. I saw a post on a Chevelle forum by Brian Martin and he pointed out correctly that to gain rear alignment on a hood, you need to rotate the hinge downward off the foreword mounting bolt. I thought about that for a couple days and wanted to test his premise with some accuracy. I meas...
Doors and Windows Disassembly | Segment 02 - 1972 GMC “Jimmy”

This segment marks walks through the process for disassembling the doors on a 1972 GMC Jimmy. I have a segment from a full door on my 1972 Chevy Highlander series. Stay tuned to the end for a couple bonus Notes-to-Self. Here are time stamps for the chapters: 00:00 - Intro 0:00:14 - Initial Disassembly with the Door Handles 0:00:42 - Door and Window Handle Removal 0:02:20 - Door Panels 0:04:52 -...
Laser Cleaning with New Technology | Segment 03 - 1972 GMC “Jimmy”
Переглядів 863 місяці тому
Part of any restoration is cleanup. After 75 years of dirt and grime, grease and oil, rusty parts can be a challenge. And I don’t like to do any project that I don’t take everything to bare metal and bring it back up with modern paint technology. I recently procured a 1500-Watt laser cleaner and this has been somewhat revolutionary to the clean-up process. I walk through some examples of how th...
Project Introduction and Disassembly | Segment 01 - 1972 GMC “Jimmy”
Переглядів 1143 місяці тому
This segment marks the start of a new Resto-Rat project here at Sam’s Antique Motors. This is a very original unmolested 1972 GMC Jimmy, in 4-wheel drive. She features a 350 ci V8, with a Tubo-Hydramatic Automatic Transmission and a posi-track rearend and factory air. The original factory color is Medium Olive Poly with a “Parchment” interior. The restoration will be back to Original Equipment ...
Relining the Brake Bands | Segment 9 - Farmall Model B Tractor
Переглядів 1058 місяців тому
This video Makes use of my very original Barrett Brake Relining and Grinding Tool. Mr. Barret joined with Mr. Stiles to form Stiles-Barrett Tools and Barrett apparently took over in the late 1930’s. This tool is likely mid to late 1930’s and is used to reline and grind brake linings. It is a very fancy tool that has a wire brush for cleaning, a drilling attachment, a rivet tray, and a manual fo...
Steering Geal Shaft Seal | Segment 10 - Farmall Model B Tractor
Переглядів 638 місяців тому
This video walks through how to get the steering shaft out of the bolster on a Farmall B. It is quite simple and just backs out from the front of the tractor. I had to take this out to replace the steering shaft seal that was leaking at the point where the shaft connects to the steering shaft U-joint. It was a pretty simple exercise. And this could be done easily enough with the tractor on its ...
Final Drive Seal Replacement | Segment 8 - Farmall Model B Tractor
Переглядів 5868 місяців тому
This video walks through the entire process to replace all the seals in the rear end of a Farmall B Final Drive unit. The tractor was leaking oil out both sides of the transmission which is a sign that the differential seals are leaking. So while I have the tractor split, I am going to do one side at a time and replace all of the seals in the rear end including the outer axle seals. And while I...
The 1952 Ariel MK1 - Four Square (1000cc)

This video herald’s completion of the Ariel Four Square. My friend Paul gave me this motorcycle 30 years ago after the tragic death of his uncle in a plane crash. Sealing A Gas Tank | Segment 7 - Farmall Model B Tractor
Переглядів 1288 місяців тому
This video walks through the entire process to properly clean and seal a gas tank. I used the POR-15 Gas Tank Sealer Kit as I have on many tanks over the years. The important aspect of the process is that it takes about three days to get the tank really clean and dry, and it is going to take about $200 worth (2024 Prices) of products between the POR-15 sealer kit, Evaporust, lacquer thinner, an...

I think i have the same issue , rebuild motor and the last 2 lifters passenger side wont pump up . I installed new lifters and they are still ticking . ...
Wow. Never expected anything less than a perfect outcome. Hope you guys have a great Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years. Drove by your place yesterday started to stop and say Hi.
Amazing amount of work in 150 hrs.
I drove over the pass in carbon county to day
Choke
I have a 1973 four wheel drive C20 Cheyenne camper special Deluxe
Pretty sweet, Sam.
That’s so cool.
About to take a look at Napco transfer cases, '58 chevy & a spare from '59 gmc. It was stuck in 4wd. We'll see
I remember once I took one apart with the chain and when I took the covers off 10,000 needle bearings fell out all over the floor. Once I gathered them up and counted them I had to figure out how to put them back. A little red grease on them and was able to put it back together. When I blew it up again I installed one like this no more chain. Lol
Glad to see you have been busy. Lol. Love the Chevy Orange and as always thanks for the great instructions along the way.
What did a make over like this cost? I would love to have this done.
What's the best way to get it back on is the question
Have you considered using some penetrating lube?
Young people Don't have a brain in their head. It's just a truck. I had lots of them. I could tell you 100 things that you do not know about that truck.
Very nice truck! 👍🏻👍🏻
Always learning something new. Thanks Sam
Well done.
Sammy, I need to buy you a new shirt!
Same Issue and I am currently looking for the correct pump as well
Lots of tips to help us lesser experienced avoid damaging things during disassembly.
Back in the day i had a 1970 Blaser K% 4 speed with the Dana 20, pozi front and read diffs...that thing could go almost anywhere. Great truck , very good bones. Mine was in worse shape rust wise in 1976. I hope you do more recording on this one than the last as honestly what you did in depth was great but the large gaps of progress was kind of a let down and I noticed you are doing it on this one ...all the great info and details then suddenly the whole front end all the ac and firewall stripped and just a fast engine pull....all that possible stuff to see or tricks ..gone...just my 2 cents if you want it ....
That’s bad ass. Guess I won’t be media blasting anymore. Lol Have you tried it on a painted panel yet. Tell your wife I said Hello.
Glad to see you back “on air” is this your truck?
My 6 volt starter doesn't want to turn on 6v but will turn all day on 12v..... what's that mean??
About how long to remove and install the new step?
Do you know where I can get one rebuilt?
Stephen I do not. I live in La Grange Texas, a town of 4,000, so no one here. I do not know where you live but if near a major city there is usually an alternator shop somewhere that might tackle it. It really takes very few special tools. If you have any mechanical skills at all you should be able to do it yourself. 714 408 3317 if you want to discuss.,
I really appreciate you taking the time to talk with me about this. I see where you have the bearing numbers in the description. That is great. I was going to ask you about that but also can you tell me which bushings to get I mean brushes lol. I have taken it apartwatching your video it is pretty simple and it was so fucking dirty and messed up inside. I just don’t see how it ran at all.
Hi, thank you very much for the video. I bought a running 1956 Pontiac Chieftain last year. It’s been running a little hot like your truck. I’ll bet it has the incorrect water pump as you state. Where did you get the correct water pump?
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Beautiful!!!
There’s was a couple ball bearings that came out the carburetor I was rebuilding Stromberg as well I would I go about finding where it was supposed to belong

الاميركان يحبوننا سيهدوني واحده من تلك السياره مجانآ 😂
It is to demonstrate that the vehicle will start on its own when cold. Some vehicle may have to be primed or choked and may need starting fluid. A hand on a muffler pipe and intake shows it is indeed cold. Fairly common for videos of online sales. This video was made for a brjng-trailer-auction and they suggest it. Truck has been sold for a few years now.
Two oner and I am the second and has never been wrecked
Why on earth do people call it a cold start? I’m just curious. I had a 1980 Chevy pick up that started without any problems in the 90s. Didn’t even have the plug it in up here in northern Canada. Pump the throttle three times turn the key way to go, lol!
Beautiful ! People don't realize the time and effort that goes into a restro like that .
Of course it will run
Does it run?
No pronoun confusion intended. Will refrain going forward
Amazing! Nice job! Please don't refer to it as "she". Excellent video.
Pretty sure he can refer to her any feckin way he wants!
So cool!!
Yes and no on sealants. For head gaskets look to manufacturer for recommendation. Most time Metal no, composite no, copper I apply copper coat. For paper gaskets on gear cases that I never intend to take apart again, use I use Permatex black but just use a thin coat smoothed out. (Instructions call for a bead that you hand tighten let cure for an hour and then torque. I don’t do that. I don’t want it squeezing goop into my gear case.). Other composite gaskets generally no. Cork gaskets no. Cork is generally impregnated with oil and is designed to take up additional oil and then expand. If I do coat a surface I use aircraft sealant in cork.
If you’re ever in the La Grange area stop by and see some of the items Sam has in his shop. There are some interesting things in there I know I’ve seen them. And his wife is a great cook too.
Looks great!
Absolutely awesome!
Do you use any kind of a sealer on the gasket surfaces? Looking great always like your videos
If at first you don't succeed, tear it back down and reassemble it two more time! 🤦♂️
Very cool.
Nice job!!
Sweeeeet Sam
