That 500 sounds kind of sick. Mine sounds way better and rips. Did you run 5 full power runs to acclimate it before the cut? Every time I am at a new logging site And run it 5 times full bore and it sets it.

Better comparison would have been a 462. But stihl is known for punching above their weight class.

The 400 cm is the best all around chain saw money can buy. If you’re on a budget echo is a good option.

I had a very similar experience with the Saw Suppliers company. They sent me a free chain and some mix oil as well when I ordered my 680 from them. Plus the handwritten note too.

Should have swapped mufflers and used the same saw and chain.

Well this is shocking 😳 Everyone says the 500i is the best thing since sliced bread. I have a 572xp, ported 620, cs590, ms461, 372xp, 660’s, etc. Have a firewood business, and was either going to buy a 592xp or 500i. Wanting raw power for cutting large logs and need speed, after watching this I don’t think a 500i 80cc saw would come close to beating a 90cc 592xp or ms661 even though everyone says it’s the fastest saw you can buy today. My brother just picked one up used asked me to run it. Kind of a rever. Sluggish throttle. Chokes down in white pine 12 inches our larger. Was really underwhelmed. My echo 4910 will absolutely cut circles around it and it's not even close. I was surprised heck my husky 350 will outcut that saw. It runs good if you have full chain speed and you're in average 10-in or less wood. Way too heavy to be a good limber. It may be very durable though seems like it is That's one plus.

I have the Sthil 500i, Sthil MS 250, Husq 592 XP, Husq 460 Rancher, Husq 435 XP, Echo 2511T and recently got the Echo 590 Timber Wolf. I can't really explain why I over looked the Echo lineup for so long but I have to say they really do make great chainsaws! I promised myself that the Echo Timber Wolf would be the last chainsaw that I would purchase but damn here you got me drooling over this Echo 680 with a manual oiler no less! Great video!

Love my 290. Muffler mod & it runs great. Lots of use also . Seriously debating putting a 390 cylinder on it .

Seems like in moderate wood, they’re even. But the echo definitely has a bit of an edge with running a long bar. The 400 is very modern and light whereas the echo is more old school and theres nothing wrong with that. Really a tough choice for the price. Both are great.

We need to do this again... This was fun to get together!

Just got a 590, and ran it for the first time today. I was quite pleased with the power, and knowing I can put a 24” bar on it, is a plus.

The size of the saw doesn’t determine whether it’s a pro saw or not! Maybe you should start doing weed whacker reviews or leaf blowers you know nothing about chainsaws 👍

If all you do is firewood and fueling the family heat source 60 cc will more than get it done especially with a sharp chain! If you mediocre logging and trying to yard your way into business 70cc might last a season, but if your gonna fill log trucks and keep a crew going it’s 90 cc or more amen 🙏 loggers keep logging

Really to be fair you need to use all new plugs, new air cleaners and fresh gas.

What length is the bar on the 7310p? And what brand is the dual port muffler?

Seemed like you pried/pushed on the modified 680 a lot harder than either of the other saws. A fair comparison (even if unrealistic) would have been to let the weight of the saw cut, or pry equally on both. You can hear the Stihl had a lot more rpm which means you weren’t prying on it as much as the echo. Aiming for a similar rpm while prying could also be a fun test but that’s harder to do, unless you can match the sound of the saw by ear. My profession is in pianos and I can hear frequencies really well. Doing some quick math the Stihl was at 30% higher rpm than the modified echo and it even looked like you were pushing on it harder. I think echo’s are great saws for the price, but the comparison should be as far as you can realistically make it.

Just ordered an Echo 7310

The 562 is probably just as fast until you are in really big wood. I have a 550mark2 and it's the fastest 50cc saw I ever seen. A good muffler mod will bring the power to 5 series saws and it's a huge difference.
