Killington Open | Drive from Ramshead to K1
Killington Resort in Vermont is open with limited terrain in the Northridge area. Intermediate and advanced skiing and riding only, though there were some people who were sticking to the very top part of Great Northern, where it is pretty flat, and walking back after going 100 feet or so.

Rutland Vermont Fall Foliage and Homelessness Update
Been watching the Women's World Cup at Killington since 2016 (I think that was the year they started it) on NBC every Thanksgiving weekend! I hear they average around 30,000 fans that turn out for the race over the two days! I also hear that the skiers LOVE this stop on their circuit because it is the largest turn out, and the loudest! Mikaela Shiffrin, as a local, having gone to Burke Academy, is always a crowd pleaser for us, and she is in the running for her 100 overall career win!!! Let's hope she dose it HERE, at Killington!!! ❄⛷🎿
@@KC_5432 I've never been to it but I hear it's a pretty exciting and entertaining event.
Wonderful. I don’t see anyone skiing, but the number of cars shows that people are there! Thank you for screening!
I did shoot some video at the top and bottom of the chairlift. It's not much and I wish I recorded more. I'll try to post it soon. Thank you for watching and commenting!
0:58 A Trump supporter in Vermont?!
There are more than you might think! Not nearly as many as the number of people who voted for Harris in Vermont, of course. A lot of the Trump supporters around here are quiet about it but I guess that's true of a lot of Trump supporters all over the country. Hence the somewhat surprising election results.
Upstate NY is bad too.
@@96trillion72 I've seen it.
Watch out for insects buzzing around your place with the plants being indoors.
@@GailKuzyszyn I'm glad you brought that up. I meant to mention in the video that both years I've brought plants inside they came with aphids, but I forgot.

Has it been dry up where you live? I live in NJ and it hasn't really rained for several weeks. Brush fires all over the place.
@@GailKuzyszyn It has been very dry up here too. I recently saw a fire warning was issued for parts of Vermont. No actual fires fortunately. Killington has really good snowmaking technology. The trails that are open have all man made snow.
Yes, I drove up here several times, but am not a skier. Let’s hope for some snow. So much of Vermont’s economy depends on skiing. Thank you for screening.
@@scottpardee6303 Definitely hoping for some snow. Killington does a great job of making it, but you can't beat the real thing. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Well it looks like beautiful weather probably doing things like hiking MTN biking stuff like that
@@JosephCapodici That could be, but it's always like this. Doesn't matter what day of the week, time of day, season, or weather.
Ill be honest I can’t keep up with all the political groups didn’t realize that’s what libs are for
It does get confusing. You could say Progressives are the extreme left version of Democrats. But they're both typically allies who work together. When people refer to libs, they mean liberals, which could be Democrats or Progressives. Libertarians are very different from liberals. While there is disagreement on some big issues, Libertarians basically believe in freedom, the Constitution and minimal government. They believe that the government is there to protect people's Constitutional rights. Not the twisted version of "rights" that includes things like housing or healthcare or the right to feel safe or not be offended or anything that people (usually on the left) are in favor of, so they just call it a right. What we're talking about are things like property rights, gun rights and the right to protect yourself, free speech, keeping the money you earn (no income taxes) and a lot more.
@ thanks for the info

Sad but true.
If the churches would actually do what Jesus said - feed the hungry, house the homeless, welcome the stranger, instead of building monumental church buildings and arguing over trifles then there wouldn't be any homeless.
I'm all for churches and other charities helping the poor instead of the government doing it. There is actually a church on the other side of the bridge and they do a free meal regularly. I think it's breakfast. Unfortunately, from what I hear, some of the people who show up cause problems.
This must have been memorable for the kids. Thank you for screening!
I do a lot of ranting about Rutland and Vermont and all our problems, so I like to balance that out by also showing the positive things that are happening around here. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Yes! I remember this well. Skiers will remember it better. Thank you for screening!
The access road has not changed much in recent years. The cost of a Killington lift ticket sure has changed though! Thanks for watching!
Wish the DPW or some city group would keep the trash picked up - go through these places with regularity to at least keep it clean - that can go a long way!
That would be nice. I've found other places in the area where homeless people were sleeping or hanging out that are also full of trash. Maybe the city or some charity could pay homeless people a few bucks to help clean these areas up. But I know that's a longshot!

This is a reminder that even in a comfortable state like Vermont, there are people in need. Thank you for screening!
Apparently, a lot of them came here from other places because of the motel voucher program implemented by the State a few years ago. Probably for the other welfare benefits too. Thank you for watching!

Wow! I must have driven along this segment of Route 30 one-hundred times. Many memories. Thank you for screening!
I'm glad you are enjoying my videos. Where do you live now?
I taught at Middlebury College, 2000-2015, and drove back and forth to New York City every other weekend or so. I also loved to explore Vermont, not enough to join the 251 club, but enough to enjoy watching the videos you and others are screening. One tour I liked was to head south to Brandon, go west on Union Street, then continue down to Proctor, cross Route 4, turn east on Route 140, and return to Route 7 in Wallingford. This way I could skip all the red lights on Route 7 in Rutland. Nobody has screened this yet that I have seen. You seem to know that area well. And, yes, I am retired in NYC, but immerse myself in videos of driving in Vermont, again for the memories. I am sure your other viewers have their own stories.
@@scottpardee6303 Cool! Middlebury is nice but I don't get up there too often. I do know those roads and areas pretty well but have not done any driving videos of them. I've kind of been doing the same ones, but during different seasons and weather. I should branch out a little more. Unfortunately, this is the least scenic time of year. Everything is brown and blah. Maybe when we get some snowfall I'll drive some different areas. Thanks for the motivation!
Again, I’ve been here many times. The colors are wonderful. Thank you for screening!
Thanks for watching!
I drove this route many times. Thank you for screening!
I have a lot more Vermont driving videos. Thank you for watching!
Parking spaces look pretty full. Online shopping has hurt the downtown storefronts for sure but so did the malls/strip malls of the past. Homeless drug addicts and crime are probably the biggest problem now.
We have a strip mall right in the downtown area. Tough for the small businesses to compete with that. But supposedly the Walmart is moving several miles away relatively soon. I've heard people say that will hurt the downtown which seems odd to me. I would think that would be good for the small businesses. And yes, the homelessness issue around here is definitely not helping.
Saturday am can be pretty "sleepy" in some towns.
Unfortunately, every day and time seems to be sleepy in downtown Rutland. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Looks better than Brattleboro!
That's what I hear!
Interesting how the typical response of business owners is “everything is great”, when it’s obvious that’s not the case. I recently noticed that a craft brewery in a nearby small town in East Texas was searching for “investors” so they could “upgrade equipment”. Well, we all know what that means, especially in an industry that’s collapsing. Thanks for the follow up video!
You bet! Thanks for watching and commenting!
If you do perhaps go into some businesses, you might just say something like: "How have businesses been doing overall downtown? I see that there are a lot of new businesses around over the last couple of years - just wondering how it's been working out for everyone. Downtown has really been working hard to be a destination location, and the Friday Night Lives in the summer months, the farmer's markets, etc I hope it's been working out well for everyone!." Frame it in the positive, and hope that they may open up a bit to give you a feel of how business has been going for the downtown area.
That's a really good idea. I'm going to do that. Thanks!
@@AngryVermonter Keep us posted!👍
@@KC_5432 Will do!
Yes, it wouId be great if Rutland can grow out of the problems it has had in recents years. Thank you for screening!

Stop voting democrat, if you can. You are your own worst enemies.
You got that right. This state has gone hard left. What has happened as a result is not the least bit surprising.
Time to repaint the under bridge and clean that up next, eh?! Hopefully the city can keep it under control better! Thanks for the update!
It will be interesting to see if they do that. I have to admit, I like some of the graffiti. Don't get me wrong, most of it is crude, gross and ugly, but some of it is artistic. Anyway, I will be sure to do a video on it if they do clean it up. Or on any other updates. I meant to do one on the homelessness hearing, which I went to, but that was a few weeks ago so I kind of dropped the ball on that one. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@AngryVermonter Yes, some CAN be graffiti art which is cool, but yeah, the rude words and such need to go. Having the painted murals on the sides of some of the buildings around downtown and such are nice, too! Rutlands just needs to dream big and continue to take some risks to make it "upcycled" if you will. The potential is definitely there! Thanks for your updates!
@@KC_5432 The potential really is there. We're half an hour away from the #1 ski resort in the east for crying out loud.
@@AngryVermonter I've thought this same thing for ever and a day! I love that they have had the Women's World Cup come every Thanksgiving weekend since 2016, I think it's been. They pack around 30,000 fans over those two days! It's WILD to see this and have it broadcast on NBC each year! I understand it's the racer's favorite venue all season because it is SOOOOO WILD, LOUD, FESTIVE, and the biggest crowd of them all!
I don’t see what the problem is. They seem to be out of the way 🤷🏻♂️
There are a lot of problems with this. These people don't just stay under the bridge. Some of them beg. Some of them drink in public. This community has been struggling for a long time and a big increase in homelessness is not helping us. The mere sight of homeless people just walking around or sitting on a park bench is not something that attracts people to shop or dine or walk around downtown. Even if they stayed under the bridge, there are a lot of used needles there. People who don't have cars walk under there as a shortcut to get to work or shop or whatever. I've done it many times myself. We shouldn't have to worry about stepping on used needles. And I hear there were bad things going on down there. I'm trying to get confirmation and details. When you welcome this sort of thing, or even tolerate it, it gets worse. We don't want to turn into Burlington.
you need to get over it. these are poeple who have no where to go
You need to apologize and show some remorse for being a liberal who supports policies that create or massively increase these problems. Several years ago, the State Legislature implemented a motel voucher program that was supposed to be temporary. The number of homeless in Rutland went from around 100 to 600 (or was it 700?). Most of these people came from somewhere else and the program has ended for many of them, as they knew it would. They can go back to wherever they came from. They should go back to wherever they came from. Or you can let some of them camp in your backyard. They'll have yet another place to go. Send me your address. I'll spread the word.
Come to providence we need to play w yall. @Exploderpvd
I'm not in the band but maybe you can get in touch with them and make that happen.

Please check out the reported conditions in Burlington, Vermont. They will make you live up to your site name of "Angry Vermonter".
Oh, I'm familiar with what's going on in Burlington. Their situation was pretty much guaranteed. It's an ultra-Progressive city in a very Progressive state. Sickening but not surprising.

It seems to be. I sure hope so. I haven't seen a single person down there since the signs went up, and that's very unusual, so I'm assuming the police must be enforcing the policy.
