In Their Shoes - Deep Diving Into Laxman Pandey From Rang De Basanti- Patriotism or Hollow Pride?
What makes a patriot?
Where does the internalised hate within us come from?
What are the values our freedom fighters believed in?
How do we preserve our rich culture and also move towards a progressive future?
How do we rise above the hate within us?
What is the hope for our humanity?
These are the questions we discuss and talk about in this episode as we dive into Laxman Pandey from Rang De Basanti played by Atul Kulkarni written by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Rensil D'Silva, Kamlesh Pandey, Prasoon Joshi & Aamir Khan and the character enhanced further more by the brilliant score of A. R. Rahman.
We discuss these ideas as the beautiful, pluralist country of ours dances another great dance of democracy. May the dialogue grow!

We (your hosts Karan and Aniket) are scriptwriters, film nerds and suckers for good stories. In the many discussions on films that happen on the internet we found a lack of spaces that discuss characters i.e. the humans within the film universe and the many ways in which these characters become a representation for us as individuals, societies and cultures we come from. In Their Shoes is a podcast series where we deep dive into characters from films in every episode and try to understand ourselves & the people in our lives through it.

What does the fridge mean in Luck by Chance?
Переглядів 3507 місяців тому
What do the objects in our life say about us and our stories? We dug into this idea of what Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti were trying to tell us through the use of the fridge in Luck By Chance and found out that it does become quite a metaphor for their stories. Who do you more relate to in this sequence, Sona or Vikram?

Very detailed discussion about the movie. Loved it. The way you discussed the human emotions i am refering another Malayalam movie (2024) Aattam (the play)by Anand Ekarshi(Debut as director)
💌
Where were you guys? So happy I found this...
So happy that you enjoyed this. Please help us spread the word and share it with your friends :)
I think .. u will like "Ishq - Not a love story"
thank you, we will check it out. :)
OMG 😮. I thought i understood the movie. But the Shammi being the villain to the 3 and how saji brought the women home just like his father just blew my mind. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it 🌻 Do share it with your friends :)
9:26 Hey Guys.. great podcast. Loved the discussion. Only a correction at 9.26 (and thats probably due to incorrect subtitle shown in Prime) is that Saji tells the doctor that him and the brothers are hurt due to people calling them as 'born to many Fathers' and not as the subtitle says 'Fatherless'.
Ah, thank you for that correction. Glad you loved it :)
Loved the discussion. Great points
Happy you loved it :)
Great content guys. You guys have to give it a shot and do breakdown of classic movies in all languages. All the best. 5 ⭐ for thumbnail and 4⭐ for the whole video
Thank you! We will work hard to earn that remaining one star as well 🌻 Which are the other classic movies you want us to dive into?
@@InTheirShoes-Podcast So if I have the choice, from Tamil:- Pudhupettai, Polladhavan, Jigarthanda 1&2 Malyalam:- Angamaly diaries, Rorschach. These are on top of my mind right now
The point of Shammi being the perfect villain to each of the protagonists was 🤯. Didnt think of it like that.
And played so masterfully by Fahadh!
What's your opinion on the narratives "A family without woman is a chaos", "There is always a woman behind a man's success"!!
Generalised narratives without context don't hold much value for a discussion. Behind the larger narrative is the lived life of a human who is flawed and trying to survive in this complex world of ours. That is why we want to focus on characters and then evaluate them with such larger narratives. Hope this helps :)
Wow! First time watching such a deep discussion of each character ♥️ Loved it
Glad you enjoyed it Ajay ❤
Watched this movie 3 times already but your podcast made me realise I missed out on a quite a few of the finer details, will watch it again. Cheers!
Cheers! 🌻
❤️

Guys make next on Kabir Singh and Preeti
I actually found this conversation and insight very moving. You two are doing great work.
You guys make me laugh and think. Thank you for speaking in English. I love the scene where he eats her food even though he is stuffed. This demonstration of his love just gets me in the feels. I loved your discussion on small vs grand gestures.
Glad you enjoyed listening to it. Please help us spread the word, we will be bringing you more of these discussions :)🌻
Edit: Seems its user / technical issue which may get resolved later. Still unable to download but seems its not the fault of the channel and the creator. Edited the comment after realising it's an app issue. Good content, hope the download option works soon👍🏼 Original comment: Why would you disable the download option for all the episodes...!
Hey, the download option is enabled for all the videos, maybe check your device settings. Thanks!
@@InTheirShoes-PodcastJust checked again, it's not allowing me to download. May be it's enabled only for UA-cam premium customer and not gareeb janta like me😂😂
@@milano9012 haha, no. We checked through other accounts that are not premium and it is allowing for downloads on all devices. Maybe update your app.
@@InTheirShoes-Podcast still not able to download.. could be a user specific issue. Since it seems like an issue at my end (you have checked at your end a couple of times already) let me just edit the feedback in original comment. Thanks...!
@@InTheirShoes-Podcast just one last check.....I am unable to download the podcast, other videos I can. Just check otherwise I will listen to the remaining episode when the connectivity is good..
just randomly clicked on this video and it turned out soo amazing, i loved the perspective you had about all the characters of the movies. keep it upp!!
Thank you so much Shreeya 🌻 We have a bunch of episodes planned around various characters. Stay tuned :)
I cringe whenever the name "Raghuvendra" is mentioned, not because of the character in the movie, but the name itself. Such an unusual, pretentious sounding long name that wastes mini seconds of your life unnecessarily. Wonder if the writer actually knew a "Raghuvendra" in real life.
Hahaha...or was it because they wrote the chunky Ragu scene first and went on from there? 😂
Brilliant concept for a podcast. Here's to this growing to a large and larger audience.
Thank you Sourabh. 🌻
Thank you Aniket and Karan for creating such amazing content! Kiara is a character, I believe most of us relate to and this podcast is such a treat to watch as it revolves around her.
Thank you so much Shobha, glad you enjoyed it. 🌻
Such an amazing podcast! Will look forward to more and more!
This is a brilliant podcast, I am glad to know I am not the only one who analyses movie characters trying to learn something or other from their journey and how it plays out.
Thank you so much Poorvee. We have many more fun episodes planned and we look forward to hearing from you about them. :)
Great insight into character development!! Keep it up ❤
