Revit Angled Mullions in Curtainwall - Revisited
Thanks to some comments about my previous video on LinkedIn, I have an update on another way to achieve the angled curtain wall mullions using nested curtain walls, and another option is using edit-in-place on a curtain panel.

Toposolid Accuracy in Revit 2025
Переглядів 1,2 тис.5 місяців тому
This video shows how to create an accurate Toposolid from a linked Civil CAD file in Revit 2025 (or Revit 2024). It coveres the common workflow where the CAD file is just contours at the correct elevation, and then shows and compares a more accurate option of using a triangulated surface from AutoCAD Civil 3D. Finally, I mention but do not show how a published Civil 3D surface is the most accur...

If you are in architecture, engineering, or construction (AEC), you may be interested in 3Dconnexion input devices. They have a Keyboard, CadMouse, and SpaceMouse (3D mouse) with special AEC app-aware buttons, tools, and workflows. I have had and used the cad mouse and space mouse for years. The space mouse works amazingly in Ensacpe for navigating a real-time rendered model in a design review ...

Great solutions
What graphic card do you use ? With rtx 3060 this view is so slow that it is practicaly unusable. I have to wait on every srcoll reaction.
I also has Quest 2 and follow the step by step, its really work and amazing! But I still cant really figure out how to control the panels and adjust the view angle, or I can only rotate my head and body to view different angle?
I did everything as you did and my picture is trembling so much... what could be the reason? enscape 4.2 GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU / AMD Radeon(TM) 610M AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX with Radeon Graphics I would appreciate if you have an idea why
How come when I try the Enscape Vr, the quality is very low resolution and grainy, whilst other apps work great. I have a Pimax 8K + 3090 with 5900x on desktop. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
what version of Enscape your using for VR
o follow all steps but its not work! The image in my pc is ok, but in enscape, only enscape, is so bad… I buy meta quest 3 for use in enscape, but not work ….
My guess is your graphics card (GPU) is not powerful enough. If using a laptop, it must be plugged in to ensure the GPU gets enough power. Our VR computer in the office uses a NVIDIA RTX 4090.

Thank you, but how do you solve inaccurate triangulations when there are vertical elements like a curb, steps or retaining walls in the site?
That detail does not typically come through from a Civil CAD file, either in contours or triangulated surfaces. But there is a way... if Civil 3D is modeled correctly they can publish the surface to BIM 360 (Civil does not have to be working in BIM 360) and then Revit "LINKS" in the published surface. This is the best workflow since Revit is not designed for Civil design. Here is a related post: bimchapters.blogspot.com/2018/08/revit-20191-site-collaboration-with.html
Awesome!
The oculus go can conect to enscape? I have the oculus go but i dont know how connect to an enscape
I do not think Oculus Go would work.
please tell if meta quest link cable is better or apple thunderbolt 4?
I do not know, I have only used the Meta Quest link cable. And, also wireless via a dedicated WIFI router.
@@DanielStineNow Wifi 6. 5Ghz?
Awesome, thank you for this secret knowledge:) 5 years later but still valuable information...and the way you do it in Revit 2023 is still precisely like in Daniel's video. Creates a bit of inconvenience when you actually have this wall in the building attached to a bunch of other elements, but it is what it is. And thank you again for providing tutorial on workaround :)
Great stuff, very important topic for those setting up the project. One key piece of this puzzle that was not mentioned was permissions/licenses, and the minimums required to get this working. Somehow there is always an issues with someone not being able to access something, either due to some permission or not everyone having access to abc pro. I know I am being picky about this, but I avoid using the words "BIM360" altogether, since its all on the ACC now and you do not really see that branding anywhere anymore. It does not help that Autodesk has not updated some of their help pages to reflect the new ACC menus and naming. It just adds to some confusion when I talk about ACC but the links I send for help only says bim360.
Grateful for your pickiness! Thanks for the comments. The terminology is indeed a good point, I should probably say ACC. As I mentioned in the video, the short series is meant to focus on different linking techniques and not how to set up the project, which is where permissions come into play... maybe in a future one (with you as guest? :)).
@@DanielStineNowYou are right, you did mention that! apologies, looking forwards to the rest in the series. Sure, I would be glad to discuss one of my favorite subjects: Revit and its related parts - any time! I am honored you would ask, I hope I can contribute in any way that would be helpful to others!

Hello Daniel, I am currently trying to help get everyone in the firm I work for setup so we can start projects correctly related to this and have run into a few issues that nobody at Autodesk can answer: 1. On project 1, I am able to get it to work just as you show in this video series without a problem. 2. On project 2, one I'm working on in the early design stages (out in the middle of the mountains/woods in Utah) has a very high level survey(10ft contours) set to the state planes coordinate system with the correct aerial map showing but when I check geolocation the pin is in the Pacific Ocean. I got to looking at that because when I bring it into Revit and do as you do in the videos it doesn't move the survey point. 3. On project 3, a project others in the office are working on in Texas has a survey that is also set to state plane coordinate system but it however does show the correct geolocation. Even with the correct geolocation it does not move the survey point in Revit. Have you successfully gotten your process to work on a very larger land planning project that is set to a state plane coordinate system? Any suggestions?
At the end of the day, the Revit survey point is really just aligning with the CAD origin (which is the benchmark of the state/county/etc coordinate system). For some reason the survey point does not always aligned with the origin but the N/E numbers should be real-time to that same CAD origin. Does this align with what you are seeing across your three examples?
@@DanielStineNow Thank you for the suggestion. I have been able to get the projects to work in Revit now. I just cant get it to align properly back in CAD but I believe it is because the contour file we are using are from conceptual design phases so its from GIS. I will try again once we get actual surveys for the projects.
Are you using this still?
I switched firms, so no I am not. We have rented one at the new firm, but don't own one.
Nice update, in room schedule, we can have floor, ceiling and but for the wall is it possible for 4 walls of the rooms with its associated finishes, I think using embedded schedules it should be possible, can you pls make a video on it
Unfortunately the default way Revit works, Room Schedules cannot read materials from system families surrounding/enclosing a room. We created an add-in that can do this... i.e., read Revit wall/floor/ceiling/roof material and transfer that to text fields in the Room schedule, but it is not auto/continuous, so still prone to errors.
That was wonderful, I have a quest 2 and forVR had to use twin motion, as was not aware about steam, will try it out the coming week, to be honest you are very helpful
Glad to help!
It is very useful, thank you.
You are welcome!
precise as always, thank you
You're very welcome
Thanks for covering this issue, Daniel. I also run across this with grid lines, more of an annoyance, when placing face-based receptacles, which I typically have to tab thru to get to the actual wall surface.
Thanks for sharing!!!
I never understood this feature. Thanks for revealing some secrets of it.
Quick, Informative & well-organized video. Thanks for sharing your experience Daniel.
My pleasure!
great explanation mate. thanks!

Great video. I'm learning Revit from your book. Excellent teachings. It would be great if you release an Advance course.
I have written 6 Revit books! They range from basic to more advanced. Which one are you using?
@@DanielStineNow Thanks for answering. I am using the very basic one, I'm almost at the end of it, "Residential Design Using Autodesk Revit 2024". Which one you do think I should take next? Thanks again.

I really want to thank you for this video. Im in a school that's using your 2022 book but had us download revit 2024. This video is literally exactly what i was looking for to solve the Toposurface/Toposolid debacle.

how do you do it???? I'm trying to puta video on a led screen for a stage render project. and I want to visualice it like this on the final render. thanks for your help! nice work!
so how do i delete it ?

hi! I've tried downloading Rhino inside Revit but the Rhino tab inside revit is not appearing. Do you know where I can find it or how to troubleshoot it? Thank you!
just buy a licensed rhino coz that might be the glitch in using cracked version.
Revit, as a modeling tool for custom 3D objects (couch, chair, other entourage), is in a stone age. While it is possible to model intricate 3D objects in a free software, even web-based ones, like OnShape, Revit didn't change it's approach since V.1: extrusion, blend, revolve, sweep, sweep blend... that's all Revit got? - sad, borderline pathetic. Am I missing something?
sadly you are not

Hey, I recently came across your UA-cam channel and was impressed by the quality of your content. However, after conducting a comprehensive analysis, I noticed there is room for improvement for your UA-cam channel to get more visitors and subscribers. • Your Video Title and description needs to be improved • You need to use more relevant tags and keywords • Organic promotion of Top social media • High-ranking tag setup (keyword, hashtag) If you want I can do a free UA-cam channel audit for you for your better understanding.

Such a great project! Those clear fir veneered glulams byr FraserWood are almost as cool as the 3D printed concrete.
Nice coverage of the Arch updates! I covered the Electrical updates - frankly not much to write home about, so I'm glad at least someone got some new goodies!
Electrical got a fairly significant rewrite of code under-the-hood that allows single phase to connect to three phase and other related enhancements (or potential future enhancements)! :)
Still waiting for Legend Component tagging, Railings to be placed as legend components, and some more... I hoped to get some AI stuff in 2025. Anyway, it is a good release. My favorite one is the array in family enhancement :)
Feels more excited to work in Revit,
That doesn't solve it if the group you want to place has objects that interact with external elements, like a window for example. I really hope they fix this soon...
Hi Daniel - really love your firm and all that you share to help other architects. I ran into an issue after following the encscape article in the description and hoping you might be able to help. I exported my decimated blender file per Pieter's webinar link to make the custom asset and.... "An error occurred while trying to import the model file. Error message: unable to find matching buffer file." At only 3kb for the gltf, I can't help but think something failed in the export from Blender. I can't find anything on this and thinking you might be able to point me in the right direction
Thanks for the video! If the other building is not identical, is the workflow similar just that instead of linking same file on the second site, I will link the second building file with the second site and so on for any number of buildings?

Such a great tool! Thank you
On my 20th tutorial video it seems and I can never get voids/void cuts to work. Always getting an error message saying "Can't make cut-out" or "Void forms of this family do not cut anything"... Any ideas?
We would like to purchase a trimble product to control the iron reinforcement on the construction site and to see the deficiencies or errors in its application. We have reviewed your x7 and x9 products for a while, but now we realize that products such as Sitevision and XR10 would be more accurate in terms of our product control. I wonder what the differences are between these two products? I know one is AR and the other is MR, but is there any other difference other than that? We will work with the model we created in Revit. Which product would be more suitable?
THANK YOU !!!!!!
Good morning sir Please I'd like to have an idea on how to eradicate the scope box in revit 2024 Thanks
Select it and delete it.
Love seeing videos on the Revit Material Library! I'm curious if you've heard what the thumbnail size in the Appearance tab is set to for the different views?
Hi, Carina! I am not sure... my guess is the image file referenced (i.e. its resolution) and the resolution of your screen, is what you see (if I understand your question correctly).
I always learn something new ! Thankyou.
