The BEST Black Mission figs are from Corning, CA!
Now is the time to get some fresh figs! We have some of the best organically grown Black Mission figs available. They're grown at Maywood Organic Farms in Corning, CA, and they're absolutely incredible! Use them for charcuterie boards, as a fresh snack or try our favorite way: split them open, add a teaspoon or so of blue cheese, wrap the figs in prosciutto and pop them under the broiler for about 15 minutes. Delicious!
Visit one of our two San Francisco Bay Area markets. We have one in Redwood City and another in the Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto.

Ive had californuan evoo from the san diego county area. It was ok, but where I livr we have a large middle eastern representation of people that use a lot of Lebanese evoo and its priced very competitively with Italian and Greek oils. There is a higher turnover too so its always pretty fresh.

Fartichokes! There are five ways to take care of the gas issue. They are packed full of a soluble fiber called Inulin. Inulin passes through the stomach and should pass through the small gut without being digested, then into the large gut where natural gut bacteria is supposed to break down the fiber. In today's diet, rich in sugars, preservatives and processed fats, the bacteria that should stay in the large gut migrate up into the small gut along with some bad bacteria where they cause inflammation and several gut ailments. When the Inulin is digested in the small gut by the wrong bacteria, a copious amount of gas can be made. Here's how to deal with it by converting the Inulin into Fructose; 1) Freezing, in the ground if your winters are cold enough or in your freezer. A tip if you shred any for potato pancakes, hash browns or latkes, 'chokes are much wetter than potatoes and should have most of the moisture pressed out before freezing. Large chunks freeze and thaw much better. 2) Fermenting, just like sauerkraut, Kimchi, refrigerator pickles, etc. 3) Cooking for around an hour. Half an hour may be enough for some people. 4) Cooking or soaking with an acidic ingredient such as vinegar or citric acid. 5) Getting your gut bacteria balanced by getting the bad and the good bacteria out of your small gut and improving your large gut bacteria which will get your guts healthy. Then, of course, keeping your guts healthy which is quite the trick on our 'modern' diet. Regular 'doses' of Inulin can help with that.
