I found out that PIN 101 MOD had consequences. Not as noninvasive as people make you believe. Learn how to live with it by resetting the ECU every now and then.

The VQ motor is known for running hot and easily cooking oil. Installed a 19 row cooler with non-thermostatic adapter all linked together by custom hydraulic 10 AN lines. This has made a massive difference to temps and i gain so much more seat time now that it’s fitted. And no I do not struggle with engine warming up since the adapter is non-thermostatic. Excellent job :-) Have you enjoyed your Z for the past 3yrs or has something else come up? I might be on the same "train" with you, but I have a VQ25DE engine instead and my smoking is way more severe than yours 😀 My Fuga is a summer car and it's now "sleeping" during the winter time here in Finland, so I might have some time (or not) to look in to it to diagnose it properly before buying all the stuff I need 🙂

I have this code and it will take like 1-2 hours of driving before I get power cuts and it gets worse the longer I drive. Is this how it was for you or was it immediate upon staring the car

is the brake light functional?
Yep it is! I disconnected the brake light in the tailgate lid, routed the wire from the spoiler to that connector behind the interior panels 😉

It turns out its the gearbox due to eliminating the dual mass flywheel. Car been running like that for 3 years now and it's still the same with no issues
I wish you would have at least showed a shot of you cutting open the relay and of the inside of the relay showing what needs to be resoldered on the inside.
So do the RTV gasket work for the spark plug tubes?
Hey Jake, I have not inspected that area since. No misfires and car is running great so I'm assuming it has 🤷🏻♂️

Hey dude thanks man🤘🏼🤘🏼 unfortunately it does not stop oil consumption completey but did improve it for sure. Main thing for me was to stop her smoking
What oil cooler sandwich adapter are you using? Did you have to drill and tap for the gauge sensor or did it already have a port?

Why are you doing this? I'm asking because I started having blue smoke on cold start. Idk what it is but I was thinking about doing this but I'm not sure.
There are couple of tests you can do driving wise to try diagnose the issue. See link for articles i used to try diagnose rings vs valves carfromjapan.com/article/car-maintenance/blue-smoke-from-exhaust/amp/
@@CappiZDrift that was really helpful. I think I'll have to replace the valve stem seal cos I only see blue smoke on cold start and after the engine warms up, it goes away.

@@CappiZDrift I've a question though, when you replaced your valve stem seal what was the most difficult thing you encounter? And what are things you suggest I should change while replacing the seals
So i did it without removing the heads, that made doing the seals on the rear cylinders quite tricky due to space. Not having the right tools also makes it tough. So i made 3 versions of the spring compressor till i got to a point where it worked. Putting the keepers back was probably the most difficult. Also make sure you have a torque wrench small enough as all the bolts for the cams and timing cover are fragile, make sure the threads are clean and don’t have oil on them or in the holes i stretched a bolt , almost broke it off in the head. And most importantly the workshop manual!!! Keep track of what goes where as there is a lot to take off. And most importantly take your time and double check your work... and good luck it’s a fun project with a huge sense of accomplishment when you done💪🏼

My z had gotten so bad with oil consumption I was having to add a quart every 500 miles, I’m about to embark on a valve stem seal job myself, these videos helped a lot, wish me luck

Hard to say but it was around 500km to 1000km or 310 to 620 miles. So not too often more like every month or two😉

Did it line up with old holes?
Yep it did, the V3 spoiler has 10 holes in total and 4 of the ten line up with the 4 original holes

Rebuild valve cover And use a bottle nozzle and spray the oil out into a rag!

Yeah you don't really have a functional vent anymore. Can always add holes 🤷🏻♂️
This is what stickier tyres and a lightweight flywheel will do, was a fair race, I bogged off the line but he beat me fair and square. Uprev was installed but untuned.
