Dirt - How Much Could We Need?
Переглядів 2,2 тис.Місяць тому
What could we be up to on the farm? Moving dirt of course! The dirt haul continues, and we also use a laser level to see how much we need to have a level barn pad. Spoiler...it's a lot. #farmvlog #skidsteer #barndemo #johndeeretractor #oxfordnc Follow our adventure on Facebook and Instagram: twoheronsfarm/ two.herons.farm Check out our website: www.twoheronsfarm.net/...
We're Not Paying For Dirt!
Переглядів 2,2 тис.Місяць тому
The debris is off the barn pad, so now we have to apply enough dirt to have a level barn site. Apparently the land is pretty uneven, so we have our work cut out for us! We were going to buy dirt, but to save money and because we love adding work to our plate, we're going to dig up our own clay and smooth it out on the barn site. How many loads will it take? #farmvlog #skidsteer #barndemo #johnd...
The Barn is Down - Lots More Work Ahead

With the old barn down, now it's time to prepare the building site for the new barn. Joe practices his excavator skills by picking and sorting through the barn debris. Liz continues work on the blueberry beds in the meantime. With baby getting closer and closer, it's looking like we'll have the new barn site ready soon...right? We shall see! #farmvlog #skidsteer #barndemo #johndeeretractor #oxf...
We're Back On Track | Barn Demolition
Переглядів 7662 місяці тому
It is finally barn demolition time! Joe put his diesel mechanic hat on and fixed the big excavator, so between the equipment all working and the rain holding off, we were able to get the barn demolition underway. There were a couple frightening moments between a snake in the barn and wood flying at Joe, but we got it done! #farmvlog #skidsteer #barndemo #johndeeretractor #oxfordnc Follow our ad...
The Wheels Come Off. Can We Get Back On Track?
Переглядів 2642 місяці тому
Baby Heron will be arriving soon, so the pressure is on to get the site prepped for a new barn. In this video the goal is to get some trees down around the site, but will the equipment cooperate? We need both excavators and the skid steer for the barn demolition to go smoothly, and Joe has been working on all 3! In the meantime Liz continues with the blueberry bed prep, which is less urgent but...
Farm Vlog - Preparing for Barn Demolition | Snakes | Joe on the Roof

Busy weekend on the farm! We received 3 deliveries, including an excavator, mulch, and a secret. Joe's battle with tires continues, then it's back to mulching and preparing the barn for demolition. The tire battle was won, but now it's our other nemesis, the rain, that tries to get in the way of our progress. That doesn't stop Joe from skid steering though! Make sure to stay tuned for Joe being...
Mulch Has Arrived! Tilling Blueberry Beds, Tire Tips, and Pasture Clearing
Переглядів 1683 місяці тому
Will Joe's tire curse ever go away? Joe shares some words of wisdom after dealing with even more tire troubles. Other than that, we got our first mulch delivery! We're making real progress with the blueberry beds as we finished tilling the soil (for now) and started tilling in the mulch. We also have some drone footage to check how straight the rows are and to see what's been going on out in th...

Pulling Trees and Marking Out the Blueberry Beds
Переглядів 1664 місяці тому
Finally feeling like we're making progress toward our farm shop goals! We started the process of marking where our 2 acres of blueberry beds will be. Whether or not they will be nice and straight is still an unknown. Meanwhile the tree puller attachment on the skid steer has been a success, so trying to tackle 2 farm projects at once. Looks like work but if you hired it out !!!! Great thing's turned out hi from Colorado Springs 😀😀😀
It is definitely work! But we love it. And love saving money when possible 😅 Thanks for watching!
Love and enjoy watching your videos. May the lord bless and protect you and your family and a new baby and working on the homestead and working on the barn
Thank you, Brenda!
Great video I had no idea about the BTUs and I bought mine kind of in a rush from Lowe’s and my BTUs is so low. It’s useless on weeds. Great tips. Thank you for the video.
It's all about the BTUs since the heat is what kills. Glad you found the video helpful. Thanks for watching!
I enjoy people like you 2 out there doing your own thing. This is my first time watching your channel not sure what’s going on but it appears you’re putting in a pad to build a house or something. Is this for yourself or for a customer. I’m a contractor so everything looks so familiar. Great video. Thanks
We are having a barn built on our farm. To save money we are doing the dirt work ourselves. Along with many other projects on our journey to start a farm business. Thanks for watching and reaching out!
I just happened upon your channel as we drove through Stovall today on the way to Virginia (we live in Durham). There is a small church in Stovall that is for sale and the back story mentioned wealthy New Yorkers that had built a near by hunting cabin. Could this be connected? Too cool. Best of luck on your journey!
That’s very cool! We’ll have to look more into that, we have very minimal information about the origin of the house, so that is one of the only theories we’ve heard so far. Thank you for sharing!!
Cool shirt!👌1776

Love your videos and enjoy watching them. May the lord bless and protect you and your wife
Thank you for your support, Brenda!
Great video
Thank you for watching!
How do you kill the root?
By killing the green part (leaves) you starve the plant. Depending on the plant the roots die quickly. Some require a few applications of heat over a period of time.
Sorry batteries cost so much hi from Colorado Springs 😀
It stings a little every time we buy them😆 thanks for watching!
Great video
Thank you!
Love and enjoy your videos. May the lord bless and protect you and your wife and working on the homestead
Thank you, Brenda!
Thanks for the video! Enjoy watching you guys. Hope all is well love from Missouri.
Thank you for watching and for your support, Bobby! We’re doing great, we hope all is well with you too.
Love your videos. May the lord bless and protect you and your wife and working on the homestead

Just FYI - you might put a cautionary note in your description - we were watching this with our young kids (as they are very interested in all things fire and gardening!) and the movie clips of the person burning came in without warning, and then repeated over and over. This was very traumatizing for the kids. There is no need to put something so gruesome in a video about a flame weeder. Otherwise, the video was very informative.
Omg. Traumatizing and gruesome? Karen they have a KIDS UA-cam. Using fire shouldn't be seen to children. Parent better.
'We don't like to use chemicals around here', pulls out propane torch to quickly change the chemical composition of the weeds. Propane is a short chain hydrocarbon, which when burnt releases Carbon dioxide, water vapour and carbon monoxide. They're are all chemicals. Wake up people, virtually everything is a chemical!
For those that live in the city, do you need a permit to do this?
You don't need a permit. You are not burning anything. You are just getting the weeds too hot to live.
@@twoheronsfarm my whole front and back yard was weed city. So I just burned up everything. Now need to figure out what to do next ... 😅
It doesnt rain here. So what should I do to keep safe?
Best practice would be to keep a water hose or a bucket of water handy. Good luck. It is way better than using glyphosate (roundup). Thanks for watching!
Guy's always like to play with big toys. Hi from Colorado Springs 😀
That they do 😆 thanks for watching!
Looks like fun!
Oh it was! Very fun and satisfying. Thanks for watching!
Love and enjoy watching your videos and working on the homestead. May the lord bless and protect Herron family
Thank you, Brenda!
Are you saving the tin on the roof?
Unfortunately no it did not seem salvageable, so it’ll be going to the scrap yard. Thanks for watching!
You’re doing fine job, just make sure your RPMs is up high enough. You learn as you go only way you can do it.
Definitely learning a lot! Joe thankfully corrected me, increasing the RPMs made a huge difference of course. Thank you for the tip and for watching
May the lord bless and protect you Herons working on the homestead
Thank you for your support, Brenda!
Thanks. Good job.
Thanks for watching.
Awwww congratulations. I was thinking when you said we'll talk about what is going on with Liz that it might be a baby. But then again I want everyone to have babies too.
Thank you so much! Completely understand that, babies are wonderful. We’re very excited. Thank you for watching!
Love and enjoy watching your videos. May the lord bless and protect you and your wife and working on the homestead
Thank you for watching and for the support, Brenda!
Call a roofer
That is definitely on the list!
I like to have a spotter helping look where I'm not. Easy to get tunnel vision when using the torch. Never used it for weeds yet. Looks like a great way to do it. Thanks
You should give it a try on weeds. Always good to have someone watching for you. Thanks for watching!
I wasted 2 min of my life on this...
Love your videos and enjoy watching them every time. May the lord bless and protect you and your wife and working on the homestead and blueberrie patch
Thank you for watching and for your support, Brenda!
Congratulations to you both 👣❤

Awesome! Congrats!!
