My first grader grandson in Southern Illinois told me they aren't allowed to read, no, david in his classroom because it's inappropriate. I asked him what the teacher said is inappropriate and he said when david runs out of the tub naked. 🤦‍♀️

Excellent video! 🙌 As a busy working parent, I really appreciate your compassion for us! I think it’s harder than ever to raise a child. Most families can no longer afford the luxury of one parent staying at home as it was in previous generations. And as the economy worsens, parents are often faced with the choice of hustling more to make ends meet or spending more time with their children. I have definitely spoken to teachers previously to (respectfully) ask them to lighten the homework load. Since we have limited family time, although I do see the value of homework, I definitely don’t want to spend all weekend doing it 😂

Great video, Natalie. Really good reminders for parents to talk to the teachers and trusted administrators when they need help. My mom was a stay-at-home mother, and my dad often worked 2-3 jobs to make up those lost wages. I can't imagine the stress they were under. 🖤

I also love the perspective that we need to start viewing parents as people helping society! They LITERALLY are raising future generations. They deserve to have basic needs met and more!

What a well done video on such an important subject! I’m so glad to see the surgeon general addressing this. When I taught in public school, it was honestly helpful when parents told me they were too overwhelmed with the work going home with their child. Even as a high school teacher, I had no idea what was going on at home unless the child or parent told me. Many of my students had jobs, were taking care of siblings, etc. As a teacher I always want to create LESS stress for my families. Not more. So homework was rare. I do hope some change and policies come out of this news to help stressed families. Great video Natalie!
