    Skeeter is a sharpshooting disc. I bag a nicely seasoned GStar and have used it every round over the past 10 years probably. Excellent disc for newer players also. Just got a Midnight Prowl 2, may retire the old Skeeter.

    Just ordered a skeeter. I'm hoping I won't mind the domed shape. Trying it out in place of my wombat, which I loved for controlled straight approach shots and hyzer flips.

  • @polvotierno

    There is a hole at my local course that curves to the right around trees. About 250 feet. The most common shot is a forehand to get the disc to go right. However, a few months ago I started using a skeeter with a high anhyzer throwing backhand. It flies up, then starts a deep turn, and then evens out for a long glide to the right. I never birdied the hole before. With the skeeter I am birdying the hole about 40% of the time now. I also use Roc3, Mako3, and a beat in avenger. None of them consistently gets as close as the skeeter. The other discs fade too fast and don't have reliability in stronger winds. The skeeter gets close to the basket in all winds types, from light wind to strong wind. So the skeeter is an amazing disc for those consistent long gliding turns to the right. It is doing better than the forehand throwers.

    When I quit leading with the disc my accuracy and distance increased tremendously! The body should move around the disc! Leading with the disc adds variables to get wrong! It took quite a few hours in the field to get it right! Now keeping that disc close to my body during my run up comes naturally!!!Much love stay safe!!!!

    Have all three plastics for the sensei now. Premium just n the mail today. There is a feel difference between the active and the active soft both of them feel great and tacky grip. LOVE this as an approach and a putter. It went in my bag right away. The premium is solid feel and beautiful bright pink. Between star and champion plastic. Hope I can get a grip on it.

    Do you throw any other Viking discs? How much more overstable is this than a zone or something else comparable?

    • @1andonlyMiro
      @1andonlyMiro 3 роки тому

      A lot more OS. The Axe in Storm plastic is a GREAT compliment to the Zone. Flies and feels like the Zone and the Buzzz combined, a very underrated disc.

    • @discgolflists
      @discgolflists 2 роки тому

      Way more overstable than a Zone!! Less glide, more dump. This is the only disc from Viking that I bag, but I have thrown several other molds: Rune(great!), Cosmos(straight and gliiidey), and the Axe(not my favorite, just nothing special about it) to name a few.

  • @joshuawaddell6640
    @joshuawaddell6640 3 роки тому

    Nice video, thank you for sharing. One thing I would have liked to see, was anhyzer line with forehand. A nice flex shot. I'm new to Viking Discs myself. I bought a storm Barbarian the other day and absolutely LOVE it. It's like a glidier Teebird in my opinion. I'm going to my local disc golf store today to buy a Storm Berserker. Heard a lot of great things about the turn it has with backhands. Based on my little experience so far and after reading a ton of reviews... I very well could end up switching my whole bag over to Viking. Thanks for sharing!

    • @1andonlyMiro
      @1andonlyMiro 3 роки тому

      My friend loves the Cosmos. But I highly recommend the Axe in Storm plastic if you can find one. Mark my words, it is the lovechild of the Zone and the Buzzz, both the feel and the flight are smack dab in the middle of those two. I'm amazed it doesn't get more love.

    • @discgolflists
      @discgolflists 2 роки тому

      Love Viking discs, especially this Loki! You may have tried by now… But anny forehand does hold a bit longer than on backhand for me, but still has the fight to get out of it!

  • @TLK3
    @TLK3 3 роки тому

    Really appreciate you showing the flight of these. I was curious if they were actually as understable as the flight numbers. One thing I was hoping for was a profile view of the disc. Before buying a new mold, I like to see the profile view, because that gives me a good idea of how it will feel in the hand, and it may even rule out using it on forehand lines.

    • @discgolflists
      @discgolflists 3 роки тому

      It is understable for suuuuure. It definitely can’t handle all of the juice, but a smooth throw will still get you good distance due to the glide and will still turn right. I thought I had filmed a profile and even held it next to my Infinite Cohort for a comparison, but my camera battery ran out. I can tell you that it is VERY shallow. I can see people with larger hands and thick fingers having a hard time gripping well and maintains the grip all the way through. The shape of the rim reminds me a bit of a Tomb but is even more shallow than a Cohort.

    How's it compared to the Zone? Which do you prefer and why?

    • @discgolflists
      @discgolflists 3 роки тому

      Great question! Of those 2, I prefer the Zone for 3 reasons. The Zone is more resistant to turn and has a more dependable fade. The Zone also has more distance potential.The Ruin has a pretty unique shape and feel which can be off-putting for some. If I could choose any overstable approach disc, it is the Viking Discs Loki. Check out my review of it that I just posted!

      The Metal Flake C-Blend that I have has hardly beaten at all. Admittedly, it hasn't kept a consistent spot in my bag, but I have thrown it enough to see that it beats in very slowly. iI have a question that maybe you can answer... compared to the Champion Firebird, how does the C-blend Sceptor do as a forehand roller?

    • @discgolflists
      @discgolflists 3 роки тому

      Awesome question! Funny enough, I have a hole at my home course that I play forehand roller with almost every round. I will post a video of it for you soon! In regards to your question though, it's probably not quite as good for forehand rollers, though it may depend on your power. The Scepter isn't quite as overstable and it has a little dome, versus the best Firebirds that a board flat. For these reasons, the Scepter comes out of the roller a little easier/quicker than a Firebird might. Hope this helps, and keep an eye out for a video with some forehand rollers that I'll post for you soon!

      @@discgolflists If you have not tried much prodigy yet, i'd suggest (there are many I could suggest. It is going to be tough narrowing it down to one, but since you tried the starter pack i'll give you one that is different than those) to try the prodigy M2 in the clear plastic which is called 400. (not 400g which is the star plastic fyi) it has been one of my favorite straight to overstable midranges ever. It is much different to most other slightly overstable mids on the market! (that does not mean it is just designed bad I want to say)

    • @discgolflists
      @discgolflists 3 роки тому

      Sure thing, I will for sure! I really liked the F Model S and the P Model S. I have also been wanting to try the A3 to compare to the other overstable approach discs, and Kevin Jones has been raving about it. I'll check out the M2 also!

    • @micah_lee
      @micah_lee 3 роки тому

      @@discgolflists Let me then just give you a run down on the a3 and a2. The a3 is like if you took a gator and made it slimmer and more comfortable in the hand. It faster than most popular approach discs like the harp and just a bit faster than the zone. The a2 is like a firebird as a much slower disc. Depending on the plastic it can beat up to be less overstable, but the main point is that it is faster and more overstable than a normal overstable putter. It is also much better feeling in the hand than a gator or a3 in my opinion. Prodigy doesn't have a zone clone because the approach series is just a bit faster. But the pa1 or pa3 in premium plastic fly like a harp. That was a lot of words so sorry. I guess I am slightly passionate about it.

      If you think the Genius is gonna work for you for some distance or a roller, I would definitely recommend getting the Premium version. I prefer my putters in the baseline like D-blend, DX, Pro-D, etc, so I liked the Sensei but if you want it only as an off the tee thrower, maybe get premium version too. The Maestro could be cool to carry in both plastics to have the same hand feel with varying flight paths as I imagine the Premium version will be more stable and hold its stability longer.

      @@discgolflists thanks for the answer, I will probably buy the sensei and the genius separately and check them out as they are not that expensive when bought separately. If I like it, maybe I will go for premiums

      Attack444 444 Sounds like a good plan! The Sensei is seriously so good. It went right into my bag and have been using it for straight upshots all the time since I did the review.

    Thats really good value for those discs, might be the best starter set on the market!

      I think it is hard to argue. I would like to try the full starter line from Prodigy, but they only list them in lighter weights.

      Molenny Disc Golf hype value I guess, make more people want it if they decide to do it again and sell out again

    • @discgolflists
      @discgolflists 4 роки тому

      I can dig that in concept. I read they only make 1,000 though. I feel like hype would be just as high and still sell out instantly if they made 2,000 or even 3,000. More money for Discraft and Brodie like they deserve. I don't claim to be a business expert, but it seems like a win-win to me. No worries though, props to the people that were dedicated and lucky enough to get them!

      What a rollercoaster! This was my first attempt at getting one. I didn't realize how much I actually wanted it until it said "sold out" and I felt that pit in my stomach and just felt like drawing my blackout curtains and sleeping for a week straight.

      I picked these discs up a couple months ago on sale at infinitediscs.com . The Loki is seriously an awesome disc, a staple and one of the most used discs in my bag. It’s only sold in their “Storm” plastic now though, which is like Champion/C-Blend, basically. I bet that’ll be even more overstable! Haha. The Rune is is awesome putter and can definitely handle power off the tee and for approaches. The Rune has been in and out of my bag, it just hasn’t been able to consistently beat out what I have already. BDGC’s UA-cam channel has even more in depth reviews of Viking Discs too!

      Yes way. Large concrete pole vs Buzzz... there was a clear winner. I melted it back together and have still been playing with it. I am not certain that it is PDGA legal once cracked and melted together though...??? Haha
