On this channel I would like to show how to paint abstract pictures. Creativity is something very valuable and beautiful.
Since I feel well in various media such as acrylic, watercolor, soft pastels and collages, I would like to show you my experiences on this channel.

Here is another idea for making collage. We all have so many scraps of collage and here is my idea to use them palyful. This is part one In this exercise we create an abstract cityscape. You now have the opportunity to use all your little scraps of collage paper in a playful way. I have a box of very small, medium, and large leftovers. Collage with shapes Overview and storage

In this video I show you a few of my collages. I'll also show you those that I don't like so much. An important note is also that you should keep the different shapes, it's worth it. If you have only a little time available, you will be happy if you can quickly open your box with the different shapes and get started. I have a box for the large shapes and a small one for the smaller pieces

Collage making step 4 When the collages are dry you look at them all again. Rotate the pictures in each direction to see what you like best. If there's anything else you want to add, do it. And if there's a collage you don't like, wait 1 day. It often happens to me that I like the collages better the next day. If you still don't like it, see if you like parts of it. Perhaps a particularly beaut...

Collage making Step 3 Now comes the fun part of the exercise. You take a form that speaks to you and stick it on. Then you look for a second shape, etc. You keep doing that until you like what you have glued. Also try this exercise freely, intuitively and quickly. Do not let your mind come forward and inhibit you. Just stick on and have fun. Ask yourself what if, when i glue this shape here. It...

Collage art step 2 Now you take a sheet of at least 170 grams. You can choose the size and format of this sheet yourself. Maybe you prefer squares, maybe you prefer rectangles. The size of the chosen paper should be in relation to the size of the cut shapes. I have a format in size 10x10 inch and 10x8 inch. If you like, you can put the shapes on the sheet beforehand and play with them a little ...

You can use scissors or a punch for this. Pay attention to the variety of colors, use bright colors, light and dark and most importantly neutral colors, but also black. So you have a good mix of different val...

For years I made a collage class. Now I`ve decide to share this class with you on UA-cam. This is the first exercise and it is about intuitive collage For this 1st exercise we need 4 x 4 inch paper, which can be a cheap paper. I take a 170g heavy paper. In this small format the paper will not curl that much anyway. Otherwise you can leave these little collages under heavy books overnight. Then ...

Hello and thank you. Have you ever thought about how difficult it is to create a painting video in a foreign language? It is also difficult to film in such a way that I am not standing in front of the painting and covering up everything I am doing. Because when I paint, I am normally standing directly in front of the paintings. I see that you have never made a video for UA-cam before. That is probably why you don't know how much work is involved. Besides, NOBODY forced you to watch my videos. Wish you a nice day. Kind regards Conny

Hi Conny what support are you using -is it canvas or board/panel?
It is a very thick watercolor paper. The weight is 760g and is from Fabriano artistico. I dont love to paint on canvas.
May I ask the name of color green you used when starting 2nd layer? Always enjoy your art❤
Thank you so much. You will find my colors I used for this painting in the video before. There I explain my color mixings for this painting. The green is a mixture from Schmincke perussian blue, nickel azo gold from Golden and a little bit of van Dyke Brown from Golden. Hope that helps. Kind regards Conny

Where is the PDF you are talking about?
The video comes from a paid online course. Because I have long Covid and am extremely exhausted, have cognitive impairments and dizziness, I can no longer teach courses. That's why I uploaded this video to UA-cam for free. That's why there is no PDF here.
Wonderful process! I’m wondering if you made your brush that had the long thin material to hold a lot of paint? Nice lines! Txz Jeanne
Je trouve que tu t'en es assez bien sortie finalement. Faut faire tres attention à l'équilibre des forme et des couleurs.
hello my new artist friend. you are very cute and funny and lovely too! i i have watched all of your videos! i have painted 120 lb papers and i have cut shapes for collage the way you described. i am excited to make collages next. i have prepared bristol paper 14 x 18 cm i think. now, i will tell you something funny. your english is very good and i understand everything well. but there is one word that you say that is hilarious and you don't have to change it although you might want to after i tell you this: you say the word ROOT. haha. well, in australia, it means..erm, well.. it means to FUCK. now the word you want is ROOF ok? bahahaaaaa. i love you, connie, and i want to tell you that my painting is also reflective of your style. thank you, and please keep making your fantastic videos! i have been making mixed media art for about 10 or 12 years now and i am always learning of course! michele (from south australia)
Hello, I have never received such a funny and lovely comment. I am very happy to read that you like my videos so much and that they give you inspiration. Unfortunately, I have to tell you that I don't know if I will ever be able to post videos again. I have not recovered from the Corona infections and suffer from Long Covid with great exhaustion, dizziness and cognitive impairments. As a result, there are so many days when I can only lie down because I have no strength to paint or shoot videos. Nevertheless, I hope to get well again every day. I think optimism is the most important thing when you have been so ill for 3 years. At the moment I am in a better phase and hope that it continues like this. Painting is my life and I long for it so much. What I do is paint something while sitting in little art journals. I can do that every now and then and it does me so much good. However, painting large paintings while standing is not possible at all because of the dizziness. I thank you for your kind words, which have just made me laugh and have given me so much joy for today. Warmely Conny
Hi Conny, I've been really enjoying all of your demos and have been following along feverishly! I want to know how you get such fluid stroked with that long-handled brush (using the red paint with fine lines)...every time I try to do that, the paint drags and I can never get one solid line/stroke...any suggestions would be fantastic! Maybe because the paint underneath isn't wet enough? I've tried using a thinner paint as well but I get grainy lines that catch on the grooves of the other paint and canvas...
First of all, thank you very much for the kind words regarding my painting style and videos. To get fluid brush strokes, I recommend using acrylic fluid. This is available from Golden. You won't get the same effect if you simply dilute your normal acrylic paint. I don't know if these lines are easier to draw on paper. I don't like painting on canvas, only on heavy satin acrylic paper. This is a very smooth paper with a weight of 640 g. Maybe that will help. If not, feel free to ask. Best wishes, Conny Here the Link: www.jacksonsart.com/fabriano-artistico-extra-white-hot-press-300lb-640gsm-22x30in-56x76cm-x1
@@ConnyLehmann Thank you so much for those suggestions! I will definitely be buying some more fluid acrylics and you caught me...I have actually been watering my paint down recently...😐 So I'm going to stop doing that! I really appreciate it!
I love how it came out❤
Thank you so much
I love this look! Such a cool process to witness! Can’t wait to start mine!
I'm very happy to hear that you like the process. This approach is really fun. I hope you enjoy it.
Maybe this is just how an abstract should be painted. Painting through all the `mistakes` and not stopping till it looks just about right with you. Come back next day to re-evaluate. Maybe when the painting matches our mood of frustration and angst it looks right, at the time. ;-)
Thank you very much for the kind words. I don't know if you saw that the 4 videos before this video belong together. That was an online painting course that I offered for a fee. In the previous videos, you can see below the videos what materials I used. Unfortunately, 3 years ago I fell ill with Long Covid with severe exhaustion, dizziness and cognitive disorders and was no longer able to make any more videos or offer any more courses. So I decided to show this course for everyone on UA-cam for free. When I watch these videos myself, I feel such a great longing for that time when I could still paint standing in front of my easel. I always painted intuitively and my goal was always to have fun on the way to the end result. The end result was always secondary to me. I'm glad to hear that you like this path. It really is the most fun way to paint. No worries about what happens, you can always direct the painting in a new direction. And the distance from the painting can often work wonders. A short break or a night's sleep on it and you'll see the picture with different eyes. Best wishes Conny
@@ConnyLehmanni wish you healing 🙏🏻
Inspiring video! Your approach to abstract art composition is so free and pulls the viewer into your work. Thank you! Also you mentioned a pdf in the video. Is that available to viewers?
Thank you so much for the kind words. I'm glad to read that the video inspired you. Ref PDF: This video is the last of 5 videos. It was an online painting course that I gave. The course consists of 5 videos in total. I have posted this course in 5 consecutive videos on UA-cam for free. In the previous 4 videos you can expand the comment bar at the bottom, then you will see what was in the PDFs. There you will find all the colors I used, the paper I used, the painting utensils, various tips, etc. This course was actually chargeable and I wanted to offer more courses like this. Then unfortunately 3 years ago I fell ill with Long Covid with great exhaustion, dizziness and cognitive disorders. That's why I can't shoot any more videos at the moment and thought about making this course available to everyone for free. Hope that helps. Best wishes Conny
I so appreciate your response. Hope all the long Covid effects have dissipated and your are on the mend. Thank you again.
I love the end result. Thanks very much for all you have shown. A great teaching for all of us who have failed or felt they have failed in a painting. Thanks.😊
Thank you very much for the kind words. I'm very happy to hear that the video is helping you. I actually wanted to publish more videos like this.
Alles Liebe Inge
Very bold yet pretty marks and colours ❤

Hi. Do you ever paint acrylic over your oil pastels? I’ve always heard you can’t. If not, how do you keep from doing this in your painting? Thx!
Hello, I actually make sure not to use oil pastels under acrylic. But if that happens anyway, it's not so bad. What I avoid is painting large oilpastel areas under acrylic. However, little lines and scribbles don't bother me. I've never noticed a problem.
@@ConnyLehmann Thank you very much for answering !! You’re very talented!!
Are you painting on a board on a easel ? I have watched several of your videos and love your approach torward your abstract art.
Hello, I'm really happy to read that you like my way of painting. I prefer to paint on very smooth, thick watercolor paper. The paper I use is from Fabriano artistico satinato (hot pressed) 640 grams. It is a very thick paper and feels like cardboard. I stick it to a board on the back with UHU pads. It holds up great and I can paint standing up. Hope that helps. KInd regards Conny
