How I use water beads for seed germination and plant feeding
Mute.
Some trees have separate sexed trees. Holly trees are like that. But not pawpaw. Each tree has flowers in male and female stages. Therefore, don't say you have a male tree and a two female trees. You check for images on the Internet that show what the two flower stages are like.
I have 13 pawpaw trees, 11 are female and 2 males. he is correct. You will need a male tree. The male tree will give fruit but is a little bitter taste, flowers are similar but not many. Good luck.
I was thinking of giving my neighbor a cucamelon in a hanging basket. I grew some from seed and have some to spare. But I dont want it to be too difficult or a burden. He's revovering from a medical issue but his wife and grandchildren can help too. How did it grow? did you get a decent harvest? thanks in advance! ❤
Hi, we only harvest around 30 little cuca melon, if you need to produce more you might want to plant 2 containers. Another tip is to control vines by trimming. is a nice little project for kids, my grand daughter love looking for them. Good Luck.
I tried this and got a terrific headache. I think the fumes from the heated cds must be toxic. I don’t recommend doing this.
Oh sorry this happen, I make many and never encounter a bad Cd or bad odor. Hope you are oK, God Bless
Awesomeness 👌
What month was it? I’m in Tampa keep mine outside full of blooms right now! Got it this spring. Have never tasted one..
This was the end of July/August, Add some Dyna Bloom and you will see more fruits. Also use 4 part of water and 1 part of honey, spray on bloom and watch the bees pollinate. Happy Gardening
❤❤❤ thanks
I started doing something similar today, and wondered if anybody else had already given it a shot. The thing I’m most interested in finding out, as whether you ended up with algae growth in the growth medium, after so much time. Normally sunlight hitting the growth medium is enough to cause that to happen, but I don’t know if the presence of the polyacrylamide gel beads makes a difference. And that’s what I was hoping to find out. Could you comment on that? It usually takes a few weeks before I notice it in any other growth medium.
Hi, I did try these beads, what I did I cover them with glow stones and so far is working perfect. BTW, I am growing Christmas Cactus on a bowl with these. 😀
@@HechosDiariosdelmundo I sure am glad to hear from somebody who is doing this. So after I left this message, I tucked some garlic Cloves and onion sets Into a couple of containers with a layer, one bead deep, and put them in the windowsill with a grow light trained on them that was on a timer. I did have a chance to check the roots before I went away, because they were sitting in the beads for a couple of days. I came home after about 10 days away, hoping that I wouldn’t be hit with the smell of rotting, garlic and onions, and it did not disappoint. I’d say they are easily 10”/25cm high. and the beads look like they are as full as when I first put them in the container two weeks ago. In the interest of full disclosure’s, I did put just a little extra bit of water in the bottom, in case, the beads dried out faster than expected. I was hoping that it would keep them hydrated longer. We’re not out of the danger of frost where I live yet, so it’s nice to get a leg up On the growing season, since it also ends pretty early. I’m actually wondering about starting other seeds in my polyacrylamide beads. perhaps some smaller seeds. So I’m torn between tossing them down amongst the beads, and perhaps putting a bit of paper towel on top of the Well-hydrated beads, On which to start them. I’ll probably be putting them in a Chinese food container, the base of which is black, and turning another base over it, to give it dark while it sprouts. I also have a question about the way you’re using them. Are you using them in a clear container, or is it something that’s opaque and shields the beads From most of the sun light? and when it comes to fertilizer, do you take the beads and soak them in the fertilizer solution, whenthey’re still fairly small, to saturate them with your hydroponic or fertilizer solution? thank you very much, and once again, for the information that you provided to date. Any further advice about starting seeds in beads, would be a blessing, and very welcome indeed. I hadn’t actually considered keeping them going on the beads. But you may have given me an excellent solution for mom’s air plants. She gets orchids that are Labelled as “ice cube” orchids, when we both know that ice cubes are probably not great for the roots. Eventually, they die back, and she’s always disappointed. This might be her solution there. And I’ve grown Christmas cactuses myself. Again, this had to be a stroke of genius on your part. It’s not something that would’ve gone through my mind to do.
Hi, I am using a brown salad bowl on my Christmas Cactus, I do not remove the beads I just add mix solution 1/2 cup with water every 7 days and is working perfectly for me. I do have tomato plants growing on beads they are around 8 inches and I transfer them to a large pot this weekend. I like these beads it keep gnats out. My wife is keeping her mother's day flowers on beads and they still absorbing looking great. Happy Gardening 😊
Hi , I'm glad is working for you, I haven't used them in clear containers. I did used the beads for my cucumber upside down plants. I will try them in lettuce 1st if this work I will follow with a video of my results. Take care and have a blessed day.
i can believe people bring these pest into their area, these masonry bees are eating my brick home on all sides
Azealias. love🎉that plant❤
❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉
Indeed, watching them melt away within 48 hours felt so good, and yes, I used what I mentioned the other day. It actually took a bit more to make them totally disappear, I just go’ogled Melissa Thanderski and the pain unexpectedly disappeared so quickly.
That's amazing to hear! Thanks for sharing your experience.
Wow, that's awesome! Glad you found relief with those remedies.
👍
❤❤❤❤ Very lovely 🪴
Did not expect to find ai gardening tutorials anytime soon 😂

I like the kratky method, ALOT.
Yes, I grow my plums for my pizza recipe sauce in Kratky Hydroponic. 🍕
I was thinking about doing the same thing. Thats how i found your channel. They look well 😊
Glad you are here, any questions 🙏 ask I will try my best to help. Happy Gardening 😊 spring is almost here time to make plans on what I want. 😆
Pretty 🥰
Thank you for the kind words!
Thats really cool!
Glad you think so! Who knew a salad bowl could be so entertaining, right?
cool video, plant looks great, that looks like a small paint brush. I will be getting a pack of those for later too. seems less forceful than the Q-tip. Thanks
They do look good, when you pollinate what method do you use? I have tried q tips in the past and have had some success, Those plants were outside and I think sometimes I didn't get to them on time. Thanks again continued success.
ua-cam.com/video/7qMJya83NKg/v-deo.html I use a brush like on this video
its been 2 years since you posted his video. do you have a success story to go with it?
Hi, yes here is part 3 ua-cam.com/video/34lXywzkusE/v-deo.html flavor was good, if you ask me if I will do this again definitely. 😊
@@buffaloindoorsplants Excellent and thank you. I am just starting to explore Hydroponics, using the Kratky method first. Summer's here in Central Ontario Canada have been so unpredictable lately. So it's time to bring things indoors. Good luck with your growing.
@@southerncomfort971 That's great, start with cukes and Tomatoes they are easy to grow. Happy Gardening.
How are you keeping the leaves from drying out? I'm assuming your plants are indoors in the winter.
Hi, I keep the room at 75 percent humidity with a humidifier, yes all my tropicals I bring indoors. the 3rd week of May I bring them out especially the avocados and this Guava tree. 😀
❤❤❤
Very Nice I like it.
How did the corn growing turn out? I didn't see any other updates? thanks
Hi, only 4 ears grew on my test it was too late for a video I was in Florida by the time I came back I didn't follow up. One thing I learn just grow 1 plant per container and I know this will give me a least 6 specialy indoors.
Do you use artificial lightning? where i live they dont seem to grow naturally and they just generally arent on the market either. How do yours compare to those from the supermarket where u live?
Yes, I used 140 watts LED garage lights for winter, in spring I bring them out. By September they have many fruits they taste delicious 😋
We actually like squirrels They help harvest our avocados. Sure they take a bite but they deserve it for all their hard work We just cut out the Vite and enjoy avocado every meal for over 6 months
😀Thanks for sharing

👌👌
This work great for our apples.
Does the plastic bottle collapse inward as the water empties out? Some people put a tiny pin hole at the top of the inverted plastic bottle.
Hi, actually no not even with strong wind. I do have a pin hole to ease the flow on top. I noticed large bottle is best for my plants.
I just throw maybe 1/4 of that bag into a 55 gallon rain barrel. The water dilutes it and the plants love it.
That's a great idea for my 2nd barrel. Thanks for the tip
Looks good❤, I see them dancing
How do plants take in oxygen in kratky method? Can we grow plants just by putting solution in a bucket? Do you have to make holes in the bucket for breathing
Plants take in oxygen in the Kratky method through the roots. The Kratky method is a passive hydroponics system that does not require any pumps or air stones to oxygenate the water. Instead, the roots of the plants take in oxygen from the air gap that forms between the water surface and the bottom of the container. As the plant grows, it absorbs water and nutrients from the reservoir. This causes the water level to drop, creating an air gap. The roots in this air gap are able to absorb oxygen from the air. The amount of air gap needed to provide adequate oxygen to the roots depends on the type of plant and the size of the container. In general, a good rule of thumb is to leave a gap of at least 2 inches between the water surface and the bottom of the container. For larger plants, you may need to leave a larger air gap. It is important to note that the Kratky method is not suitable for all plants. Some plants, such as tomatoes and peppers, have more demanding root systems and require more oxygen. For these plants, you may need to use a system that actively oxygenates the water, such as a deep water culture (DWC) system. Here are some tips for ensuring that your plants get enough oxygen in the Kratky method: Use a container with a large enough diameter to allow for a good air gap. Use a nutrient solution that is well-oxygenated. Avoid overfeeding your plants, as this can lead to root rot and other problems. Monitor the water level and adjust it as needed to maintain a good air gap. By following these tips, you can help ensure that your plants get the oxygen they need to grow healthy and strong.
Awesome, looks good.
I thought this plant was poisonous?
Hi, The leaves of pennyroyal, along with the oil they contain, have applications in herbal medicine. Although there are significant safety concerns, pennyroyal is utilized for various purposes such as addressing the common cold, pneumonia, fatigue, and functioning as an insect repellent. Mr.Jerry Baker recommended on his book..
@@HechosDiariosdelmundo Thank you for the information. I have a plant growing wild in the backyard and I can’t figure out if it’s PennyRoyal or Peppermint! Shows you how much I know about plants. 😂
Yes I have them too, sometimes I need to be careful on what I spray so I don't kill them@@muddlasvegas

Thank You have a Blessed Day
This works the exact same for gnats?
Yes, for best results mix playground sand with Diamomaceos Earth and cover the top of your container, gnats will not have a chance to dig on the sand. Good luck
@@buffaloindoorsplants Thank you so much!
Can u link that Stand ? Great job btw
Thanks, here is the link amzn.to/3JxkoVX
Went from 5 to 7 gallons last year, topping off is less often.
I have 6 inches of air gap (for oxygen roots) from the lid to the top of the water, I take PH reading every 2 weeks. I replace the water with new nutrients every 2 months, even when I bring it indoors for winter.
Wow!
Thanks and yes she still going strong. 😀
I know this is old but what specific type of tomato plant is this and the stand you're using to trellis. I was adamant I wouldn't do tomatoes indoors because they would take too much space. I stand corrected!😊
Hi, I will check my files and post back with answers by the weekend. It might be Super Sweet but I want to make sure because I grow others .I control the vine if space is limited.
@@buffaloindoorsplants Thank you
