How to automate switching between midi tracks in Ableton
In this video I will show how you can automate switching between different midi tracks in Ableton. This can be very helpful when you are performing a track live, and most of the track is sequenced by Ableton, but you want to play certain instruments in certain parts of the track live.

Pulsar 23 and Guitar Pedals
Переглядів 1,1 тис.2 роки тому
This time we're expanding the sonic capabilities of the Soma Pulsar 23 by using all kinds of guitar pedals. I REALLY reccomend listening to this one on headphones, as it's a lot about stereo effects and you'll hear the difference MUCH better that way. 0:00 Intro 1:04 Bass loves chorus 2:08 Snare loves reverb 3:12 Drums love distortion 4:47 Dry / Wet comparison 5:15 Adding pads hyperfollow.com/k...

Lyrics Video for "We Are Online". I created this track in 2021 for #Jamuary. This is just a slighty mixed version of the original live recording. Gear used: Novation Peak (Bass) Synthstrom Deluge (Main Drums, Sub Bass) Novation Circuit (Additional Drums / Percussion, Pads) Behringer Model D (Lead in the Bridge) Erica Synths Zen Delay (Delay on the Deluge) Izotope VocalSynth 2 (Vocoder) Original...
Pulsar 23: Using the looper for automation (feat. Polyend Play)
Переглядів 2,2 тис.2 роки тому
Just a quick idea today. If you are missing DAW like automation lanes on the pulsar this one might be for you! We are using the looper to record automation lanes and apply them to various parameters of a bass patch. Sorry for the potato quality on the main video btw, I tried a different camera setup and the autofocus didn't quite work this time.
Pulsar 23: How to create random melodies with Shaos
Переглядів 10 тис.2 роки тому
Tired of writing all those melodies yourself? Wish you had a little robot that writes those melodies for you? Well look no further! In this video we will create a patch on the Soma Pulsar 23 that creates random melodies by using the onboard random voltage generator "Shaos".
Pulsar 23: How to make a warm funky bass
Переглядів 3,4 тис.2 роки тому
The Pulsar 23 is a semi modular techno beast - but it can also create warm funky basses with just a little bit of patching! In this video we will create a bass patch and see how we can use the envelope of another channel to modulate the bass filter. You can listen to the full song that is played at the end of the video here: ua-cam.com/video/Q70Tw4r1QWY/v-deo.html

#Jamuary2022 Day 29 - First ever Modular Jam (plus Pulsar 23, Deluge, Peak)

I recently assembled a modular synth, and today was my first ever jam with it. Setup: Modular is playing the bass as well as some rythmic noise stuff. It is a very simple patch since it is my first one. Pamelas new workout is creating multiple rythms, some straight on the beat and some euclidian ones. Pulsar: Kick and random melody The Pulsar has a pseudo random voltage generator which I used t...
#Jamuary2022 Day 9 // Friendly RPG Town

I'm late to the party this year, so I'll start with a very simple jam to get things going. Peak & Microcosm on pad duty, Pulsar-23 for drums, Boog on the bass and Deluge sequencing it all.
Jamuary 2021 Day 30 // Pulsar 23, Deluge, Zen Delay
Переглядів 5863 роки тому
First Jam on the newly arrived Pulsar 23... This thing is a BEAST!!! Might have gone a liiiiiittle overboard with the distortion in the end XD I sequenced it using the Deluge because I'm not yet accustomed enough with the internal looper. The main output of the Pulsar is in mono, so I ran it through the Zen Delay for some "fake stereo" width and delay stuff. You can route all 4 channels to indi...
Jamuary 2021 Day 18 // Peak, lil' Erebus
Переглядів 863 роки тому
Something very simple and mellow today. Just two synths doing synth stuff. I created multiple midi tracks with different lengths on the deluge and sent them to the peak simultaneously to create some polymeter melodies. Novation Peak on the pads Dreadbox lil' Erebus on the bass Fractal Axe-FX for some fx on the bass soundcloud.com/karousin karousin
Jamuary 2021 Day 17 // Deluge, Peak, lil Erebus
Переглядів 883 роки тому
Set out wanting to do a hard techno track, ended up with some kind of weird 90s trance thing I guess? Thats Jamuary for ya XD The deluge is doing most of the heavy lifting on this one - drums, pads, ambience fx & sweeps, as well as sequencing the whole thing... the Peak is playing the bass, and I added the lil Erebus for some arps because I haven't used it in a while and it has a unique timbre ...
Jamuary 2021 Day 15 // MPC One, Deluge, Peak, Zen Delay

Found an old sample I recorded from a pad on the Peak on my MPC, so I made a short sample based jam today. The MPC runs through the Zen Delay for easy filter sweeps, the Deluge controls the Peak which plays the lead sound.

      You can use the second channel of the pulsar for the bass, but you have to use some kind of MIDI controller to play it chromatically.

      The drums and the pad starting at 3:54 are coming from the Deluge. The bass and blippy melody are coming from the Pulsar.

    Cool info. Although i am always surprised how many people want to "tune" a chaotic noisemaker like this. I don't think about this in musical terms. Its like banging or rattling on some sheet metal, would you care to tune that ?

    • @Karousin
      @Karousin 9 місяців тому

      It's more about possibilities for me... I love the chaotic noisy stuff that the Pulsar can do! But I also love the "softer" side, trying to tame it, see what kind of other places you can take it.

    Hi! Sounds nice! I'm having both synths but somehow the deluge is sending a weaker signal (velocity?) Then when you play the Pulsar with your fingers. How does this work?

    • @Karousin
      @Karousin Рік тому

      Hi, glad you liked it! The default velocity of the Deluge is 64, which is about 50%. Since the Pulsar is VERY velocity sensitive, you will get pretty quit sounds. You can increase the velocity on the Deluge by holding a note in clip view, and turning the left / right scroll knob. Now all future notes you put into the sequencer will have that velocity.

    • @Karousin
      @Karousin 2 роки тому

      I like to do both. On this track I used samples on the deluge. I don't remember which ones exactly, but I mostly use single samples from splice and combine them into my own drum kits. Other times I have sampled the Pulsar or my other synths like the Peak and used them as drums. It's also very fun to run around with a portable recorder and sample all kinds of household items like sofa cushions, lamps etc, and use that for drums!

    • @_adrienmccarthy7473
      @_adrienmccarthy7473 2 роки тому

      @@Karousin yeah agreed man. I like it a lot for the same reasons. There’s something about the quick maneuvering that I’m really enjoying about the Play. Dial in Euclidean fills, hit a button, boom. Don’t like it? Dial it down, hit the button, boom. The ability to drop sounds on ANY square and then manipulate the timing/direction etc is fantastic. It’s like, all of this has been done before but never so easily digestible and fun. I also like the clever designs. At first I was like “why have knobs if you can just tap on one and then use the far left encoder to change the parameters? But then it was like “ohhhhh every one of these can control MIDI cc messages”. Very robust but still simple. Great stuff!

    • @Karousin
      @Karousin 2 роки тому

      @@_adrienmccarthy7473 exactly! I also love all the little features to get you started fast. Load 3 sample folder (Kicks, snares, hihats), generate a beat in your favorite Genre, bam. Up and running in 15 seconds. Don't like the current samples? Just tap a button, now you got a new random kick/snare/hihat combo. Tap the button a few times, keep the combo you like the most. Hihat too boring? Tap a button, randomize sample in folder, bam. It's just blazing fast and get's you into the creative space in seconds.

      @Karousin 2 роки тому

      Thanks, really glad you like it =) The manual states that the right connector is the input, the left one the output, so I use them that way. In practice I think there is not a big difference however ;-)

    • @nicolomariavilla7024
      @nicolomariavilla7024 2 роки тому

      Yes i probably interpreted it such as: the right connector is the input (sound source) and the left is the output destination (modulation source) but i agree not much difference its just a little less effective as speaking about range of The knob, at least thats my experience, that s why i wanted to ask if its on purpose to tame down even more the modulation source

    Does the deluge is the clock master , or is it the pulsar sending the clock to the deluge ? Difficult to choose these kind of stuff …

    • @Karousin
      @Karousin 2 роки тому

      I tried all combinations, and settled on the Deluge sending clock to everything else. It is the "Main brain" of my setup anyway, so it makes sense. It is important, however, to send clock pulses from the gate outs of the Deluge, and not send clock via midi, as that seems to be a bit unstable and can result in drifting out of sync. In this video you can hear the machines go out of sync a bit actually, because I still used midi to sync everything.
