Minolta Maxxum 5 - The Featherweight
Переглядів 2,1 тис.3 роки тому
The Minolta Maxxum 5 was released in 2001 for a retail price of $399. Today, it can be found on eBay for around $30-40 in good condition. It’s not the cheapest Minolta you can get, but considering that it is a baby Maxxum 7, this camera is a great bargain. I don’t know if people just don’t like the plasticky feel, but it makes it very lightweight, and thus a comfortable everyday-carry camera. A...
Minolta XTsi - An Underrated Film Camera
Переглядів 2,8 тис.3 роки тому
The Minolta XTsi was released in 1998 for a retail price of $879 with the kit lens. Today, it can be found on eBay for around $20-25 in good condition. Personally, I’m okay with this as it means that I can easily pick up a replacement if need be, and not have to sell an organ. Another thing keeping the prices down is the fact that this is a non-glamorous, Prosumer SLR. These aren’t what people ...

      Unfortunately, I have no experience with the Yashica 230 AF. I would clean battery compartment and try again. Often times, the capacitors on these cameras will begin to fail, and only experienced technicians would be able to fix it. But given the cost of the repairs, I would just pick another one up for a decent price. Sorry I couldn’t be of more assistance to you.

    Called the Dynax 505si Super in Europe. Feature packed, small and light, cheap as chips because the silver colour dates most consumer electronic to the late 90's. Plus finding matching silver lenses is tough because the choice is far more limited than black. Mix and match and dont care about the looks though and you are good to go.

    The first AF SLR camera was the Yashica 230AF. Only then did the Yashica 200AF come along as an entry-level camera. The 200AF has no built-in flash, no TTL flash metering, fewer viewfinder displays and is missing a few other features. The camera can be powered by a 2CR5 battery or AAA batteries. However, an adapter is necessary for this. The adapter is removable. Later there was the Yashica 270AF and the Yashica 300AF. In some countries the Yashica 270AF was also called the Yashica 230 Super. There was also a Kyocera 210AF.

      Both cameras are great for photography, but I personally prefer the colors that come out of the X-Pro1. That being said, the X-T1 focuses more accurately and feels more responsive. Also, the X-T1 has the Classic Chrome film simulation, whereas the X-Pro1 only has the original 5 film simulations. In the end, both are great for photos. It is up to you to decide which features you value the most. Hope this helps!

    Thx, though your cursor when pointing never correlates to the conversation which gets very confusing. Yes, the fuji at 35mm will be a tad larger, so it's understood it's on the right, and you do in fact say that. But the conversation when making points leaves the viewer wondering what you're talking about. Anyway, thanks for comparing. Both are good lenses, but I'm going to side with the Zeiss. Obtaining deeper blacks is easy, and I like the slight 0 2 f advantage and coloration of the Zeiss. Yes, the Fuji is a tad sharper at the edges. Barely. Cheers!

    • @GinoriYT

      They’re both great cameras, but I think that it all boils down to your personal preference. The X-Pro2 doesn’t have all the new features you might already be accustomed to, so that’s certainly something to think about. That said, if you do more hybrid shooting then keep the X-T30 as it has some features that you will not find on the X-Pro2. On the other hand, if you’re strictly a stills shooter then going for the X-Pro2 might be a good choice for you.

    I have a plethora of Minolta AF cameras -- and yep, the 5 is nice and compact compared to many of the earlier bodies, and feature-rich. I was wondering about your shots -- Superia 400 shot at 100 -- was the film expired or fresh? The shots look great -- in fact with bolder reds and yellows than box-speed Fuji film. Was the film processed as 400? Thanks! Oh -- I am waiting on parts 2 and 3 of your Yashica AF camera series!!! I have the 200-AF, 230-AF and 300-AF -- the 300-AF (last model made) is a pretty mature AF camera for that era -- nothing fantastic, and missing a few things (like manual ISO!), but pretty responsive and, for me anyway, takes nice focused/exposed shots.

    • @GinoriYT
      @GinoriYT 2 роки тому

      Minolta’s Maxxum/Dynax cameras are absolutely fantastic. Out of all the modern film SLRs, they are my favorite to shoot. The Superia 400 shots were developed at 100, so they were pulled two stops. In my opinion, the color shift that happens when you shoot it at 200, and then pull it by one stop is quite pleasing to me. The colors become more vibrant. The magenta cast gets tamed a little, but still makes an appearance, and lets you know it’s a Fuji film stock. I have been procrastinating about the follow up videos on the Yashica AF-200. Let’s see if I can make it happen this month. Thanks for your feedback, and thank you for watching.

      The kit lens is not bad, and if you stop in down you can get some good sharpness out of it. Definitely recommend the 50mm f/1.7 as it’s currently the best bang for buck in the Minolta Maxxum system.

    Hey, I just bought it in 2022. It is absolutely mint. No scratches, dents, bumps, etc. Screen is mint. Cost: $350. Also, the EVF is large and clean. You're right about the auto-focus. I use manual. But the shutter shock is very real and using the electric shutter causes wavy lines when shooting fast subjects. The 14-140 is especially bad.

    • @GinoriYT
