@rhondeau9175 100% yeah LOL not all of them are that intricate unfortunately, especially ones with passives or a single attack. Burrow, attack, burrow, attack, etc. You can of course do trickier strategies or augment them (which I do at my table) but normal statblock is pretty straightforward: swallow players when you can, strike them down :)

@galdalversgravekeeper5158 you're right, but also, depending on the religion system or subtype of said religion, there are actually tons of other interpretations and types of the Deva. But since the creature in D&D is clearly based on the most prominent/a watered-down version of the most prominent, that's what I focus on. 5e like a lot of games that base their lore on real-life myth waters down a lot. Creators take what they feel fits their narratives and world and doscard the rest. Imo it's not dogsh*t, the world of Faerun is great and the lore has been built over decades, but yeah if you look for 100% accurate myth representation, you definitely won't find it in most tabletop games :/

@crusty_cannibal yeah honestly when I was researching them I initially went to certain yokai like thr Nuppeppo, but with the added insect swarms and stench I realized they likely took the name and blob aspect, made it more evil stinking flesh monster, and tied it to the Roman beliefs of different devils/souls in the Underworld!

@hopeforescape884 Many casters, especially those who do NOT take Resilient (Con) or Artificer will have a much lower con score than other classes, and most will not get proficiency in CON saves. I agree 100% that Wizards and the like should put some points into CON for concentration checks, but the reality is that many casters do not have great CON compared to other classes, especially at lower levels where they might face a Catoblepas. This is obviously different game to game, party to party and depends on the Feats, classes, multiclass options, and player choice of every campaign. Main point of the video is the overall description, strategy, and mythological origins of the creature, so I hope you enjoyed! Thanks for watching 😀
