For aeons, literally, it was a dream of mine to see these beautiful places. So, after years of DNA research - and uncovering a wealth of family history, (honestly, it was only to see where my ancestors had lived in UK) I found that Edward I, Longshanks, was my great grandfather...and Caernarfon was his home... I'm still dizzy over that revelation...and of course, Stokesay has to be added to my list of "places I GOTTA see"! Thank you immensely for the history lesson...

Look up videos about "building cement houses in the Caribbean".... They figured out a way to make cement floors, and even roofs. Could be handy in restoring.

Gilbert Brydges, Lord, 2nd Baron Chandos van Sudeley 1543-1594. Was my 13th great grandfather. His son John brydges (bridges) came to America and what lead to my my family

Nice to see the castle without scaffolding; I lived in Rochester and loved visiting the castle and cathedral. One night, a boyfriend and I scaled a shorter stone wall to get into the castle grounds. thanks for the video, I'll likely never go back and it's a pleasure to see it again. Oh and I think Charles Dickens wanted to be buried in the moat but they wanted to give him a grander "resting place" and that's why he haunts the place.

Thomas and Matthew Arundel are allegedly ancestors of mine. I’d love to see a recreation of how it looked in their days.

Seeing all the recesses used for supporting joists for flooring certainly invites the notion that Rochester Castle would be amazing if restored.

Just been. The Great Hall is currently shut for complete refurbishment but you can still peep down from the long Braose Gallery above. Still an excellent castle to visit and you get a free guidebook at the moment.

Still the most beautiful house I've ever seen. The present owners did a wonderful job of rescuing it.

The Castle is said to be haunted to but I've never experienced any sort of bad vibes or paranormal activity so far. There has been a few videos on UA-cam showing some ghost hunts they looked pretty interesting. I really love this castle very much although it sadly lays in ruins it will forever be in my heart! Thank you for showing this beautiful castle and for the others you have covered in your other videos. 🙂🤍❤💚🏰

even better you can rent the garden cottage and stay there when all the folks have gone. Had a wonderful stay there just last 2 weeks

We tried to visit Rochester Castle last year on out holidays but had to give up. Apparantly there was a graduation ceremony in the catherdal next door and the whole of the city was overrun with students and family and the limited parking was completely full. Tried for an hout to find a space in the car parks and on the road but had to concede defeat. Instead, we found a little place called Upnor Castle across the river, plently of free parking and a really nice pub next door which did an amazing curry.

Last time 6.30pm is going on the other hand with some great stuff that you are getting cooing

One small point of detail: Brougham Castle isn't in The Lak District. It's in Cumbria buy outside the National Park.

Great informative video, thank you. We went there yesterday & its great to walk around. Then we went to the museum to see the skeleton that was found in 1988.

This is where I grew up. I grew up camping in the castle, swimming in the Devil's basin, and spending night after night waiting to see the nun. Good Friday was a great time to go there. Local tradition led dozens of families up there on that day for picnics, etc. My mum still lives in the family home on the edge of the forest.
