Support me: ko-fi.com/bengirouxpercussion My website: www.bengirouxpercussion.com I recorded Rain Tree as part of my final project for my recording degree at Peabody. It was one of my first recordings in Dolby Atmos, and the one that peaked my interest in surround recordings. Because of the limitations of the project, I didn't record any video, and therefore never uploaded it to UA-cam. I decid...

Great performance and video! Congrats!
very impressive...
great playing!
Matthew..is that you? Wonderful...very engaging. Auntie CA
Good playing. Are the sticks harder than ordinary marimba sticks?
They are Vic Firth M154, rubber mallets made for marimba. Malletech makes similar mallets. Encore make slightly different sounding mallets made of latex, those are also nice. There’s another recording of Nagoya on UA-cam where they use Resta-Jay rubber mallets. I’ve never used them but I like the sound in their video so I may try to find some if I can.
thank you
What happened with the last video, the marimba version of the Suite Cello nº 1 (Bach)? I wish I have to watch it again. It will be re-uploaded?
Ended up not being able to release it. I have more videos coming over the next few months! Waiting on approval to release a video this week.
Bravisimo!! Love, love love this! love aunt beth and jim
Matt, stunning!! Beautiful! love, great aunt beth
Very good.
Very good job! Which model of bows are you using? Seems the perfect size 💪🏻
They are custom Incredibows, made of carbon fiber so they are very light and permanently tensioned. You can get any length, but I own 2 - 19” bows that are comfortable to hold with other mallets. A friend has 23” bows which are more for one-handed use.

Nice performing and nice recording ... But something similar yo our version.
Thanks! Your rendition is great as well! If they are similar, it’s only because it’s the same piece played on marimba and vibraphone.
Beautiful playing! If i can ask, what mallets is the vibraphone player using during Forlane?
Hello! These are prototype Robert van Sice vibraphone mallets, they have since then been commercially released on Vic Firth. I would have been using the equivalent of a M313 in the bass with the rest being M314s.
@@michael_yeung thank you! Your performance is spectacular, I hope I can play it as well as y'all!
Very interesting performance.
Is the sheet music available anywhere?
Yes, I updated the video description with the composer’s website. You can contact her through there, or try Facebook Messenger.

One of Peter’s most famous. Thank you so much. Wonderful to hear.
what mallets are being used? The vibraphone sounds amazing!
Hi! I really loved your performance, it's so musical and artistic! Can I ask you a question... Which mallets do you use ? Nice sound !
It’s awesome to watch you play! Really coole rhythm 🎶
Such a beautiful recording and superb playing. Especially the cellist's musicality and powerful playing :)
Wow, that’s so beautiful! 😊
Great playing! I can't believe how interesting you made this ridiculous piece sound. It must take some insane patience and dedication to be able to perform something like this 😲

Nice Technique!
Thanks!
beautiful! what mallets are you using?
The mallets are from Resta-Jay classic vibraphone series, you can easily tell by the color!
That’s really beautiful! 😊
Do you mean the way he plays it? The song itself is so dissonant though...
@@jerrywangPMSSI like dissonant music as well, it’s kind of magical ✨
