Because I think sometimes when they say church hurt me unfortunately sometimes I think they're talking about the leaders of the church and no one wants to point out the leaders of the church
This was so good! Also, the reason it is often referred to "CHURCH hurt" vs. a specific person may be because when reporting the specific person/violator of an offense or crime within the church...more often than not, the ENTIRE LEADERSHIP scurries to cover or excuse the violator/criminal or try to convince you it didn't happen and so it becomes an institutional offense vs. the actual perpetrator.
This was so GOOD…❤

Great convo as always when Jackie Perry is involved. However, i will say that it is important to remember how to be gentle with ppl when they've experienced church hurt. It's a delicate issue and requires all parties (the victims & the abusers) to press into a level of Christ likeness that can ONLY be facilitated and made possible by the power of the Holy Spirit. Only Holy Spirit can help us forgive when the abuse is repetitive and so deep that it's difficult to even verbalize. And yes, ppl experience incredible abuse IN "church." However, we can not say we've experienced such negativity IN Christ. Don’t reject Christ because of broken ppl in the church. Grace & peace good ppl ✌🏾🤍🙏🏾
Great feedback!

TALK MA’AM!
Joe can be a free thinker and still be a believer. He doesnt have to fit into the normal christian colloquialisms. The Bible actually teaches to follow the law of moses but the churches dont teach that. Much respect for his vulnerability.
Thank You LORD! Confirmation!
I said yikes right before you did🤣🥴🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
I’m going to be honest. I have my reservations about white people when it comes to our faith. I approach any white preacher with skepticism, and I simply don’t trust white Christians. Throughout my journey, I’ve seen some troubling things. I’ve attended several churches led by white pastors, and when issues of race arise, the responses have often been appalling. Because of this, I’ve distanced myself from organized church. I considered joining the BHI, but I don’t align with their doctrine or methods. Instead, I focus on reading, praying, and catching a good sermon occasionally. My distrust in white people regarding spiritual matters is firm, and it extends beyond that as well.

Idk man, in all my 30+ years of life i ain’t never seen my daddy cry. if he did, he must do it alone in the shower or something but he certainly ain’t crying WITH me. and i like it that way lol my Superman can’t be crying with me lol
When ppl say God is good I truly question if they read the Bible. God is like an abusive parent and all his children are in a trauma bonded relationship.
I have to disagree with you. As someone who has read the Bible quite closely and frequently. I would say I see a God who has multiple roles with humanity. One the one hand, he loves and has made humanity he has bestowed a unique dignity on humanity as his image bearers. Yet they have chosen in small and great ways to reject him and the dignity he has given. Despite that he still has offered mercy and grace to people but most reject and refuse it and choose to do pretty evil things. Bcuz of this he clearly makes distinctions with people. Those who persist in choosing wrong and evil, he judges. Like a good judge. Even when his people act up he disciplines them. But he simultaneously leads them back to himself, he persistently pursues them and he still provides for them in a million ways. Most chiefly in Jesus. So I would say the picture is not of child abuse but more akin to a parent who has loved a child who is bent on being a serious criminal despite having a every gift and luxury growing up and people who love and care for you at home. To appreciate this I would say reading the Bible contextually is important. It's important not to just take a snippet here or there so you understand the context of what is taking place.
The Bible teaches us how to grow in our faith and navigate this world. If you feel God is “abusive”, then you miss what God is responding to. So many were blessed by God and his goodness. I hope you gain a relationship with God.
It's completely valid to feel the way you do, and many of us have experienced similar feelings at times. While it's common for others to challenge your beliefs or question your understanding of scripture, remember that it's okay to have doubts and seek clarity. Life's difficulties, including moments of pain and suffering, can lead to these feelings. I encourage you to keep asking God for insight and understanding about His nature. It's crucial to remember that everyone's journey of faith is unique, and our perceptions of God can differ widely. Many people experience His goodness and healing, yet we all face moments when life doesn't unfold as we hope. These situations, like witnessing a child in pain or feeling unheard in our prayers, can be tough to grapple with. Ultimately, many believe that God's ways are beyond human comprehension, and finding peace amid the complexities of faith is vital. Embracing the notion that God is all-powerful can provide us with guidance on how to process our emotions and experiences in a meaningful way.
@@brandenbrooks5525You responded to her with a sense of superiority.
@BeWiseLegette Nah bruh I did not. But I did disagree. I did also question the validity of her interpretation. Which is completely legit. Given we are having a discussion about an the Bible and how it depicts God. It's apart of discussion. No superiority but I did and do question her grasp of those texts. Just as she in her comments questioned others grasp. Why are you saying this to me but not her? Why are you saying I am coming off Superior but she is completely justified. Makes no sense, is inconsistent ,and unjustified.
Take steps towards Him everyday! Keep stepping!!

This was so wonderful, please post this episode to the podcast, would love to save it and keep pouring back over it - thank you!
I like this video. It sounds like, though, that he didn't leave "THE" church as much as left his church or a church. I understand from the aspect of distancing yourself from fellowshipping with believers, which also isn't good; but when I hear somebody "left the church" it's usually spoken to mean that they left the faith or are no longer pursuing Christ, which isn't exactly what the case was here.
34:49 Facts! This is trauma. I’m getting a lot from this episode, and I appreciate Alton’s transparency. I’ve also been in therapy and doing a lot of soul work before entering a serious relationship. Hearing another brother/minister’s journey is confirmation for me.
This was sooooo GOOD and it was so beautiful to see the Holy Spirit take over in Shepherd at the end when he shared his Testimony! I LOVEEE when I can discern/see the Spirit of God empower and encourage us to just let him flow 🔥🔥🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
Okay but the introduction 🔥 😮💨
🙏🏾🙏🏾
GOD STANDARD IS THE ONLY STANDARD. I will not place my hope in earthly governments. I will pray for all local, state, world. I believe what 1 party says they are about.open boarders, given minors powers over parents. Just to mention 2. Ultimately PROVEBS 21:1 is always a good factor. Let the Church cry out to the true and living God. Forgive me/us, have mercy, intervene. Let us love and share with grace
Yes! This is such a good reminder

Lol men are not her first choice.
Very mean. If you're a Christian, you’ve never gotten redeemed from any sin? What if after you the Lord helped you overcome it, someone still held it over your head? Us as Believers have to be a little more considerate and rejoice that our sister has left that lifestyle! 🙏🙌 @songbird9444
