    Did you perform a Break In service on the tractor? Engine and Hydraulic oil change after 50hrs. I could see that being the cause of the front bucket being touchy and the leak down.

    great vid! wanted to see what consumption would be with a trailer this size. also have a lighting er, planning to tow similar trailer so this gives me a good gauge what to expect for range. you didn't mention your consumption from the trip but based on using 39% for 49.5miles of towing at 60mph with some elevation changes with an Extended Range nets you 1 mile/kwh. this is pretty expected because the camper adds alot of energy consumption. I think some don't realize how efficient the trucks actually are compared to how much energy is required to tow a camper.

    So it calculates the range from the trailer weight automatically before you even leave, did you put in trailer weight or is it estimated from the tongue weight? I’ve got a single axel 20’TT weigh 5100lb gross and looking to get a 2024 Lightning Flash ext battery. We usually camp within 100mile radius so I’m just trying to figure if this will work for us, any other daily driving will just be county to and from work about 20miles. We do home charge as we currently have a Tesla MY! Can I ask if you’re using public chargers what your average cost is to charge?

    • @thomabb

      I'm sure it didn't work out well. The two legs powered by the generator are in phase, so there will be no voltage across them. None of the electrical that requires 220v would work. A 30 amp RV outlet is only 110v single phase. To do this properly, he needs a generator with a 30 amp 220v outlet and cords that are not for RVs.

    Try this on leveling. After first straight line trips, Approach next two trips at 30 det angle approach. Only on final pass after shooting grades, marking low spots, Fill with front bucket rather than move placed material does one really work the draft control. You will soon learn the tractor and blade combo.For quick results push out top link, more cutting and drop tines 1 hole.

    Any reason you didn’t just buy a 30 AMP intel box instead of the 50 AMP box? Wouldn’t that eliminate the adapter? Getting ready to do this and just wanted to know the reason. Could it be that you wanted the option to upgrade to a generator that requires 50 AMP? Also, is the circuit breaker you are using 30AMP or 50AMP?

    What you are not explaining, which honestly is one of the most important points, is that you are taking a 120v generator output, and splitting that feed, which is feeding both legs of your panel 120v single phase. In turn, all 120v house circuits will then work...but also none of the 240v would work...which is fine in most cases. I would suggest a few changes in your start-up process. Turn off all 240v breakers, turn off all refrigerators and electronics breakers, and keep the generator breaker off until the generator is up and running. Then turn on the generator breaker and then the refrigerator breakers. Keep all 240v breakers off until the generator is removed and normal power restored. Don't crank up the generator with live circuits that will be under load.

    I have purchased a slightly larger wen generator the 4500 W generator. These smaller generators aren’t like normal generators. They only put out 120 V. The much larger and noisier gasoline powered generators usually put out 240 V and 120 V. So my question is I see that you can power both sides of your electrical panel. I was wondering how the electrician wired your generator in to do that? I have my house set up With a larger 240 V 9400 W generator. It’ll power the whole house no problem, everything all at the same time but boy is it noisy. I also would like to hook up my house the same way you did yours and just cut off the items I don’t need , and have it a lot quieter. So if you could reply back and give me some idea how you could split off 120 V generator to power both sides of your electrical panel I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks Bob Phelan.

    • @spacecoastz4026
      @spacecoastz4026 Рік тому

      It's very simple. You wire the inlet power box as normal for 240V. You purchase a short converter cord (as shown in this video) that takes the generator 120v output and splits it into two separate 120v feeds. If you won't be needing any 240v circuits this is actually more efficient that running 240v and only using 120v circuits. The reason its more efficient is that you are only having to manage total load, rather than two individual loads (per leg). Hope that makes sense.

    Tons of things I foresee as problems for the way I use my truck. My camper trailer is around 8000 lbs when fully loaded. I use my trailer in cold weather, Mid November in Canada. Cold weather has an impact on battery life. Very few charging stations especially where I live and just try charging that truck with a 30 foot trailer attached to it. I would need to disconnect somewhere and then reconnect. Typically I travel about 150 miles one way so a round trip about 300 miles. I do like the concept of EV vehicles but in my opinion there not ready for my use. Factor in power outages or stuck in winter traffic😮.

    • @braburghfarm493
      @braburghfarm493 Рік тому

      I hear you. It's a lot like being out in the great frontiers right now. Things are moving towards helping with these issues, but right now, this really works well for some, but not there yet for most use cases. It's exciting seeing what the future can potentially become, when I drive this pickup. BTW, cold weather range drain is big. I'm reliably at a loss of 24% at freezing or below. Does get better around the 40 degree mark, but that is HUGE if you weren't in a position to manage it.

    • @tylerbrengle9652
      @tylerbrengle9652 3 місяці тому

      It's definitely situational. Like you said, for your use it doesn't sound like EV is quite there yet. For me it works great. Also as a side note about being stuck in winter traffic - even though batteries don't like the cold, EVs are still more efficient in winter traffic than ICE vehicles because ICE vehicles need to continue consuming gas to idle as the motor runs.

    I did not have the same curl sagging issues as you, but after my first service, where I replaced the hydraulic filters and all hydraulic fluid cured all my issues with my sloppy front loader. It also removed a majority of the whining sound. Now looking into having the hydraulic pressure checked out the loader just to make sure I’m getting the correct pressure. My loader issues didn’t come till about 70 hours on the tractor. My issue was the curl and uncurl cylinders were very sloppy like they had air in them.

    So your extended range was estimated to be over 300 miles. You were down to 76% after 50 miles not towing anything. You drove 49 miles with the trailer and most of that was downhill or a loss of elevation. You ended up with 37% of battery which was almost 40% battery loss in 49 miles. If you try to pull that trailer on a 120 mile round trip you will be lucky to get home without charging again. You will also need to add supplies and water to that trailer weight which will drop your range further. Is there an error in the math above?? This is the extended range model?? Better have a generator in that trailer.

    • @tylerbrengle9652
      @tylerbrengle9652 3 місяці тому

      Keep in mind the initial 308 mile estimate is a calculation based on NOT towing a trailer. As soon as you select your trailer on the infotainment system the algorithm takes the inputted trailer dimensions/weight into account and provides a new estimate. Though he only drove 49 miles on the trip out to get to the trailer's location the "mile estimator" went down by 72 miles. Some of that could from using battery for climate control, battery conditioning, and so on, but as a general note I've also noticed that the estimates are a little generous. For example if the truck says I have 200 miles of range and I drive 50 miles, instead of my new estimate being 150 it will have actually gone down a little more, maybe to 140 or 135. Your math is correct though. Towing 49 miles used 39% of his battery. Using a ratio you can determine that at that rate, 100% battery would take you 125 miles while towing the trailer (if under the same driving conditions). Overall I'm very impressed with my Lightning. At 100% charge I was able to do a 175 mile round trip, towing an 18' boat the entire time AND returned home with 15% battery remaining. I'm getting significantly more range than this guy while towing because a camper is basically a big box which is NOT aerodynamic, compared to a boat.
