My dad has dementia and i see him fight to hold onto his mind and basic things we take for granted, where the stairs are, whats outside, how money works, what day it is and i feel this poem in my bones and soul as every day he rages against that light that slowly reels him in on its silken, subtle thread.

This is about death. In two ways. Don’t go gentle into the good night. Keep fighting even when you know it’s a loosing battle, make the reaper earn it. Rage against the dying of the light. Dreams are meaningful, they give you something to strive for. No matter how humble. Don’t let that light be extinguished, don’t let your dreams die. Even in a downpour, keep that little ember covered. Don’t let it fizzle out. Because life without a dream is a death all its own.

The timing of the background thunder with "And you my father..." was heavy. Thomas felt like his dying father wwas giving in and accepting death so easily.

Do not be afraid of death, for it's only what you are before you're born. Greet it as equals and thank it for this time spent and the beauty seen.

John 1: 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was, God 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in the darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. 6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light 9 That was the true Light which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 10. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name; 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night. Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night. Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. And you, my father, there on the sad height, Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

I turned subtitles on and it just made this 10x more wierd, here it is: "Do not go meekley into that good night. Old age should burn and die at end of night. Rage, be angry at the agony of light. Though the wise men know their dark is fair. Becuase their words had stuck lightning. They dont go meekley into that quiet night, The good ones. Who after restleness cry for that brightness. Their fragile works had danced in a green bay. Rage, Rage agaist the death of the light. The madmen who caught and sang to the sun in their final race and learned very late that they filled their path with sorrow and death. Do not go docililey into that still night. The solemn ones, close to death, who see with dazzling gaze. How much blind eyes rejoice and burn like meteors. Rage, Rage agaist the agony of the light, And why. My death. The thing that brings life to nothing. Why do they decide to do a dark thing. They will rage. They rage at close of light. For nothing can escape death."
