Pile Driving at Lake Anna
Переглядів 67 тис.14 років тому
This is a short video of pile driving activity at Lake Anna during boathouse construction. This process was repeated 57 times. Longest piling was 24' 1". Average penetration into lakebed was between 5.5' & 6' Pile driver will be for sale on eBay this fall after completion of another boathouse.
Any way I could speak to you?
may i ask which model of pile driver you are using?
Where you get the pile driver ram from?
The pile driver assembly (hammer, hydraulic cylinder, and valves) are from a tractor mounted post driver. Here is a URL that will get you close: www.worksaver.com/hydraulic-post-drivers. They have a couple of different sizes and this one uses a 10" I-beam for the hammer. Smaller one uses 8" I believe. I bought that off fleabay and the rest from various suppliers. I used a hydraulic pump that is commonly used on log splitters.
@@lluttsch2 we are trying to come up with a plan to pull and replace our marina dock pilings. we have been unable to get contractor to give us a quote due to the amount of work they already have on their plate! Building our own may be our only option! Would you be willing to sell us some plans for your design? our piling are 24' long. any advice would be appreciated. I have a board meeting on 11/13. I would like to tell them something at that time. Thank You.
@@9555212 I'm sorry that I didn't reply more quickly. I posted these videos a decade ago and rarely check in on them but happened to after your first message. Where are you located? The design is pretty simple and "selling" the plans seems almost silly to me since this is a shade-tree-mechanic like affair. That said, it was very effective and believe that it was ultimately a very good design for what I needed it for. I'd be happy to talk by phone to provide an overview of what I did and can provide a few sketches (I may even have a CAD drawing but not nearly complete enough to actually fabricate one). The whole thing is based on 2", 2.5", and 3" square steel tube that is I believe is 3/16" thick from a local vendor and hydraulic cylinders (and parts) from www.surpluscenter.com/. This was a DIY special that built two beautiful boathouses and is currently taking up space in my shop. Sorry to hear you are having trouble finding contractors... that's the good and the bad of our current situation. Drop me a line if you'd like to talk by phone.
@@lluttsch2 We are in Bay City Michigan.
@@lluttsch2 how do I get your number?
Lance, is that you? Where are the barbecue Utz?
Is that you? Of course Itzu! BBQ Utz are there (but behind the camera). We still use Robin's ski... you guys should come to LKA and reclaim it some time.
@@lluttsch2 Dude, did you build a modified pontoon boat so you could put in a boat dock?? You are extraordinary
@@williamwojcieszek4320 Yeah... probably not the most effective use of my time but what the hey... I learned how to weld and now have 63K views :). I still have the old blue & gray MC and pull it out every other year or so and take the kids skiing. Hope you, R, and kids are doing well.
@@lluttsch2 Wow, that’s amazing! What a great little barefooter! Hope you guys are doing great as well. I have 2 girls - Junior in high school and an 8th grader. I retired December 31, 2020. What are you guys up to?
Same. My last day was May 31, 2019 and now spend most of my time driving our daughter around (she plays ice hockey and has a 55 game schedule this year... the teams in her league are in NY, NJ, PA, MD, VA, and NC with tournaments in places like Detroit and Harford... that and building an airplane (Vans RV-14... see this www.vansaircraft.com/rv-14/). I'm not sure that retirement will be permanent but I'm enjoying it for now. Our oldest daughter is a junior at Boston University and son is a freshman at Penn State (youngest is a sophomore in high school).
깡빡 졸았네😁😁😁
This is awesome thank you for sharing
LKA Virginia?
Nice setup for smaller jobs especially because you can operate by yourself or with a small crew, I build docks on lake Anna myself and we use a barge with a post hammer, we drive 20-40 (20-28ft 6x6s) a day with no problem.
What kind of hammer are you using? I’m trying to figure out a set up...
Late reply but it is a post driver that was originally designed to be on a 3-point hitch. Worksaver is the brand and mine is the 10" version but I suspect the 8" version would work just fine. Good luck. @@UPutTheGayInGangster
Awesome! I have seen the finished product and to think that one man built an amazing boat house (and beautiful house) practically all by himself using ingenuity, sheer hard work, and determination reflects the essence of how the American Dream can be achieved. Most people could never appreciate the labor of love and sweat that went into what he and his family built versus the assumption it was all simply paid for. Well Done!
Where on the lake is this dock at Lake Anna?
The Waters at Lake Anna... warm side. From main pond go under Elk Creek bridge then under power lines and straight ahead. Blue boathouse and house.@@mhaggerty7484
Where can I get a rig like that or slightly larger
I invented the pile drive it's a wrestling move that I made up to beat people up watch my video it's better than yours by a million miles
love the shorts
I am building a work boat to install boat lift and boat dock pilings on a fresh water lake. The boat is 10'x24' and has four pontoon logs under it. Would you sell me the plans you used to build your work boat, or is there a site I can go to to order these plans? I was very impressed by the capability of your rig and the fact that it is a one man operation! Thank you for any help you can provide me. dexndox@msn.com for emails
this is almost exactly like my rig except its on flotaion instead of the pontoons
