I ordered a few things while I was down with pneumonia. I also got the chance a few weeks ago to visit my first brick and mortar needle workshop. I thought I would show what I got.

Yarn Shopping - my favorite basics (by request pt 2)
I have this machine I want to sell it it’s running good
I get those socks as freebees all the time. Only worth a couple bucks
I’m so very fussy about a good straight stitch and that’s because my Mum taught me to sew on an old Singer like that. I’ve got hers and I’ve got 3 others 🤭
Socks not worth $13
I’ve been a needle smith since I was 10. As I grew up I began to smock. There I was taught to open thread and iron the floss. I’m looking forward to watching what you do!
i give eggs
Is there a turn on switch? Mine is plugged in but not running 😢 it did before.
I prefer using floss drops. I’m not one that likes bobbins any longer. I couldn’t stand the floss being ‘crimped’. After I started using floss drops, I found it easier to pull one floss thread instead of cutting a six strand and then separating to get one strand off. Then you have to re-wind on the bobbin. I will eventually put both my complete sets of DMC onto floss drops.
they didn’t chrome plate during the war years because the process used a lot of energy and there was a shortage of the chemicals required as well.
I absolutely loved watching this video. As someone who also doesn’t have a lot of space, this was quite inspiring. Thank you. 💙💙💙
This is a great video, very well done. Clear and consice, SO many ideas. You are absolutely right, COSMO ROCKS!!!! I was intoduced to the floss a few years ago and have collected the whole set. I love your stack and carry idea.
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much! I bought this stand and the instructions were very confusing to me. I took one look at your picture and I figured it out. That weird big screw , I wasn’t sure what to do with it, then you explained.❤
I've never used Cosmo thread. Why do you like it? Thanks for sharing all your great ideas.
Such great information. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for this video, I love seeing how other people are organizing their supplies! Aren’t those Sterilite boxes amazing? They work for more than just floss, they also work for art supplies such as pencil crayons, pencils, felt pens, paint brushes, pastels etc. If you have a lot of meds and/or supplements one could be used for those. And I’m sure there are a lot of other things they could be used for in the craft/hobby world as well. Mine came as a stack of three actually (I’m in Canada), now that I see people are using them for their embroidery floss I want more! I haven’t done cross stitch or embroidery for a long time, but I’m thinking about getting back into it.
@@pennycandyys Agree. I watercolor paint and use a whole set for that as well. Plus my knitting supplies. 😁
@@SimplyThirdStreet I have been thinking sewing supplies, but yes! Knitting, crocheting, punch needling as well as rug hooking supplies, the uses are probably just about endless.
This is so helpful! Thank you!
My clutch is stuck
I’m just starting to cross stitch and I find these videos and tips SO helpful! Thank you…❤
A thousand thankyous. I have been sewing for over 60 years but I've lost much of my vision. Yours is the first video I can totally see. I was recently given a 1937 Singer 99 and I just bwant to thread it up and see it sew!
Have you used a walking foot on the machine? Is it a singer brand? Great video!
You're a genius thank you
Does your qsnap ever roll down when you are stitching. That is my biggest fear if I get one
Just what I've been looking for!! This has been the most useful video for my needs. Thank you. Exactly what I needed!!
Thank you❤😮😊
Excellent video. Lots of great ideas.
Thanks! I enjoyed your video!
So glad!
🎉❤ I thank you very much for this tutorial. 😊 I like the way you are organized. I am starting with cross-stitch, so I am starting off on the right track. ✅️ see you soon in the next tutorial.
I hope Project Bag Parades catch on. I was only going to make one but am now planning my sixth bag. Thank you for sharing your fabulous collection.
Nice tip using shelf liner in the bottom of the Sterlite totes!😊❤. And I must make some zippered project bags!
I'd like to find an easy cardigan pattern in simple knit stitch with button front and rather long body . I have a total of 6 skeins of "super saver " yarn 4in forest green , 1 in spring green and one in glow worm green . Can anyone help me thank you
Too late, I already went at it trying to pick it out with tweezers 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
When you effortlessly pulled a single thread from the skein at 11:40, my whole cross-stitchy world shifted! I have to try this--thank you so much!! ✨
Thank you, this was so easy to do. Thank you making it beginner friendly.
I store my floss in bags in a large tote. One thing that has really helped me is a divider for the floss numbers. 200, 300 etc. I used old file folders cut to size and I have the outside of my box labeled with the range of numbers inside each box. I love the shelf liner ideaà
Dye lots can vary very noticeably when you don’t keep the same skeins with the same project. Hence, I always the kitted and started fabric together. NYou’d be surprised at how much a shade can change over dye lots and years. Trust me…after 50 years of stitching, I learned the hard way a long, long time ago. P.S. This is one of my “Never break” rules!
Great colors!
Just watched your supplies storage video and decided to check out your channel. Realized that when I started cross stitching two years ago, yours was one of the "prepping floss" videos I watched and is for the most part the method I now use. As you noted in the storage video, I too found an acrylic floss drop to hold the prepped skeins and like that I can then move the floss to a ring for each project. Also getting ready to watch your vintage Singer video and subscribing now!
I've been trying to decide how to improve on my floss storage and will be trying your method. I use a larger size of those same type of stack boxes for quilt supplies and have a few smaller ones for Christmas decorations (thanks for posting the Target link to the size you use) and have Flossaway bags that I've rarely used so think I could make this work! Also great tip on the shelf liner in the bottom. I use the simple zipper project bags and love them. Since I am primarily a quilter, I have tried to resist the lure of making the pretty fabric ones. However, I've recently caved and have plans to make two that incorporate stitch projects in the back of them. Let's hope I can keep it to that, LOL!!
Very pretty box! I’m trying to decide if I want to subscribe! Thank you
Question - you store your off season fabric in a bag but what do you do with the pattern? I would be tempted to include the pattern with the fabric. Makes sense not to have the floss stored there; I don't know HOW many duplicates I have at the moment!! ;-)
I keep the pattern in my pattern storage bin. I find that I can more easily access it in a moment to see if I have it (so I don’t buy duplicates), check any info about it if someone asks, and to flip through when changing out my wips to see what I want to work on.
Solution: When you get a whole bunch of the same color….you find a monotone sampler and use it all up.
Great video! Very inspiring for someone who is just getting into cross stitching
Love the fabric…really lovely
Where did you get the little plastic container Dr for your scissors, seam ripper, etc.
Hobby Lobby
Can you make a video on how to oil up the machine? I just inherited my grandmas machine but it came with no oil and no wick!
Excellent
Best explanation I've seen. To the point, easy to replicate.
Thank you.
Where can I purchase these containers ?
Target or hobby lobby
How do you not get upper arm pain when stitching in a stand?
I usually prop my elbow on a very firm square pillow. I think I also built up a bit of shoulder muscle strength (not that I can see it) after having my stand for a while now. It used to be a bit of pain and then suddenly one day it just wasn’t anymore. I think the combination of the pillow and just building strength did the trick.
@@SimplyThirdStreet ok! Awesome!
Hello, what kind of ott light? Thanks 😊
It’s a sewing machine light, but is perfect for cross stitching.
