God I would've loved one of these when I was farming, excellent machines.

The only time I've ever seen a 7200 series magnum overheat was when the grill was filled full of wheat chaff. The ones we run to this day still have no issues cooling.

Take the case off of the nameplate and it will perform better

Usually when someone or a company makes a film like this, that means they are desperate and getting their @$$ kicked because it’s pretty obvious which is the superior tractor and some of the stuff they pointed out are just plain idiotic. But I’ll give the Magnum credit for pushing JD into designing the 8000 series.

Both of these tractors are absolutely amazing machines, im a case guy but these 00 and 10 series deere’s are phenomenal tractors. I will glady run either one

Being experienced with the original Magnums and an MX220 of the series that followed at the start of the 00's, it amuses me how much the MX's are like the Deeres under comparison in the cab area. No instruments around the steering column, a (more comprehensive) instrument panel on the right-front cab post, the same kind of electronic hydraulic remotes (though the throttle was still a cable), electronic shifting, etc. But the MX's hood system is an improvement over the original Magnums. With respect to engine cylinder liners, knowing a bit about the FPT engines: in the current Magnum you get a NEF engine with parent-bore cylinders (the smaller models), or a Cursor 9 that (last I knew) had liners anchored at the head like these Deeres (higher HP models.)

I think the combine landscape would be very different today if deere had made the CTS a little better corn machine/ easier to change over for corn and went that route over STS. A CTS machine on a 9600 chassis with big HP would have been a Lexion/NH killer.

There’s more magnums with 20k hours and running every day in the dairy state than any 8000 series Deere. You can’t touch an 89 series with dual PTO for under 60,000.

At 14:33 the magnum is clearly making a wider turn.

I wonder if the experts at case ever saw the 8.1 reliably living to 15k hours and transmission too lol

I have a 1660 and i cannot keep the grain in that combine anymore, it used to be great, changed sieves and definitely not header loss. Picked up a 2188 this year and that thing might throw out 1/4bu/ac. Don’t know whats wrong with the 1660 but that doesn’t matter anymore. It was the backup combine to our 7120 and now the 2188 is the backup but don’t need to leave it sit in the yard just in case, it does such a good job we run both at the same time now

They just stole the idea from John Deere.

Grandpa and dad ran John Deere 7720s for awhile and then made the switch to the 1680. We stayed red ever since. Dealer support was amazing for quite a few years. I just wish it was still there like it used to be.

Ya one man can change the concaves but it is a huge job for one guy. I’m glad I don’t grow wheat anymore and I don’t need to change them now

The dreadful transmission on the axial flow. I was hired man for a farmer who had 2 1660s. Great in the field. Dangerous to road. Could jump out of gear roading them. I was so glad when he updated them

Still see these tractors very often at work in Finland, good looking tractors. In Finland only cab models were sold, there was also some cheaper and different looking cab option tor XL-cab.

These fellers and fellettes could never know what the future held, similar to us now and into the future

Interesting it says all came with R134, I own the 1st 2144 made and it takes R12.

neighbor has a 695 open station, my ford 5610 is a lot quicker and more nimble for chores. his 695 will start in whatever cold weather you throw at it though

I’ve got a 695 open station with around 2500 hours

however for me the most beautiful series ever produced by Case International is the XL series, those are excellently made tractors that they no longer produce because they didn't break easily to sell new tractors 😂😂😂

My dad's 7120 is my favorite tractor of all time.

I've never run a Challenger, but I've had the privilege of running the Magnums ALOT back in their hayday...the farm i worked at had 3 new ones. (2) 7140s and a 7120 all with FWA. They were absolute beasts and we used them for chisel plowing, spreading manure, grain cart in the fall...still my all time favorite tractor and im a JD guy lol.

We had a Case Dealer in our town (Decatur) for a few years, it went out of business in the early 1970's. We also had an IH Dealer too, it also went out in the early 1970's. Both buildings are still around, but if you didn't know what you are looking for you would never know it. There is still an IH Dealer in the next town (Dowagiac).

About the only people that won out of this whole ordeal were the Case dealers that managed to survive the merger. They finally had a full line of equipment under one flag again vs. just having tractors and a few tillage tools available after Case decided to kill off most of their line to focus on tractors.

It should have been INTERNATIONALcase not the other way around. Long live the red farm equipment.

How many 8000 series tractors were sold?

My neighbor is a farmer, and has used a CX90 for over 20 years. It's an open station 2wd, but the exhaust is off to the side like it was previously a cab unit. It's kind of unusual because I've never seen another one like it. I'd like to ask him about that.

My cousin and I affectionately called those JD combines "Minimizers" when they came out as a dig 😂

This video did nothing to convince me of anything. Sure the Magnums were fantastic tractors, but this video was an unnecessary production. They should have been comparing two tracked machines.
