LS2 Carbon Advant X Helmet Update
After about 12-15 hours of wearing the new LS2 Carbon Advant X, I share my first impressions on fit and comfort. I don't get into wind noise because to me, most if not all modulars are noisy compared to fixed full face helmets.

After much research and deliberation, I finally decided on buying the Supershox Premium SL shocks for my 2020 RGS. I watched and read reviews on just about every brand out there... Legends, Ohlins, Wilburs, Fox, Progressive, etc. This brand hit all the right buttons for me. Great warranty, great reviews, great customer service. Best of all, when I called with a few questions, the owner actually...

    I’ve got this exact same helmet I think it’s extremely good value for money. Only thing I would say is the cheek pads are a little uncomfortable and they push your cheeks in an awkward way. Trying to find slimmer cheek pads for this helmet I’ve been told is an option however I’ve had no luck. Can anyone point me in the right direction ???

    Do you recall where you ended up setting your preload? I’m 190 lb and worried I’ll go too low. Bc I’m at 1.75 and it’s still not a good ride.

      Did you buy yours used? Brian sends a sheet that shows you clearly what to set them at. I am 185 and he set mine at 3. they have stayed there except when I ride 2-up. Again, those are the settings for my 14" shox and the springs. If not sure, call Brian with your serial numbers

      They are new. The springs were too stiff. Brian sent me out a new set of springs. I rebuilt them today. Snowed in so can’t test out yet. Should be able to in 2 days.

    Side thought since it looks like you own a different one. Ls2 helmets are more of an intermediate oval head shape so if your head is more round you maybe want to look at a different brand that has a more rounded headshape?

    When I buy a new helmet, I wear it in the house for 45 minutes. Any helmet that hurts in that 45 minute time frame gets returned. I don't feel a helmet should ever hurt, and once you ride in them, you can't return them . And even though I measure 60 cm which is a large on most size charts, I find that most of the time it takes an XL to fit me comfortably due to my head shape and larger ears.

      @@omarmontana1969 they both only come in 2 shell sizes, so I don't personally see much difference, but I don't own either one. I want to try a large Advant X, but the helmet seems to be sold out everywhere. If the large isn't comfortable, then I would probably just return it for a refund, as I don't want to be on the smaller side of the larger shell size.

    I had an LS2 valiant when i was riding. I hit a deer and flipped over the bars and never even realized i hit my head until i saw my visor broken off laying on the ground. Helmet has some scrapes as well from the wreck. Very comfortable helmet brand and will be purchasing another when i get my next bike.

    I’m going to try the Scorpion Exo Evo Tech Pro the LS2 was TO TIGHT …

    • @newharleyrider
      @newharleyrider 10 місяців тому

      Depending on the shape of a rider's head, it can definitely fit too tight. I think LS2 fits a round head fine, but you'll need to order a size up. And it takes at least 15-20 hours of use before the pads break in and conforms to the shape of your head.

  • @RudiruudsM
    @RudiruudsM 10 місяців тому

    Thinkin of buying one but nowhere to try this if it fits well. Is it round shape or long-oval as most LS2s are? my head prefers a more rounded ones.

    • @newharleyrider
      @newharleyrider 10 місяців тому

      I have a round head, so for me the LS2 seems to be a better fit than other brands. You'll just need to probably go up one size. Keep in mind though, it takes some time to break in the helmet pads, so it may seem a little too snug until you've worn it at least 15-20 hours. Try ordering through cyclegear.com. They have free returns for 30 days.

    • @newharleyrider
      @newharleyrider 10 місяців тому

      Hi Giannis! You can lengthen the right chin strap quite a bit by pulling the outer portion of the strap down. You’ll need to pull off the plastic cover on the metal clip at the end first. Keep pulling till it’s long enough for you, then reposition end clip and upper metal strap clip and it should be fine.
