Ever Hated a Trail??? One of those Rides
The Only reason….The ONLY Reason I ride here is because it’s close by and convenient. Terrible conditions, horrible human interactions, tons of Karens, Patrolled by “Docents” that don’t allow wheelies or speeds over 15 mph (if they catch you) constantly reminded by bystanders “WHERES YOUR BELL???” Dude I mention terrible conditions? Anyway, it’s honestly not that bad, I was just having a bad day. Enjoy.
I’m going to get so much crap for this😝No one reads the description and this is a test for that fact. Stay Stoked. Any day on a bikes a good day.

Been a few times and haven't cared for it much myself. Its never fully open, blown out a lot of the times and just sandy and lose as all heck. I leave more frustrated and tell myself its the last time every trip. Great for the hikers I'd guess though by the large numbers of them I see.
Exactly, better places to go. I only go if I’m limited on time.
how are those bars treating you? i have the same ones but have been skeptical to throw them on, because i am a heavier rider.
@@mauroleon91 oh they’re great. No issues only compliments😎 I know they are some cheap Amazon bars but so far they work great. I like the rise, they are comfortable
I feel like, to enjoy Harmon, you have to ride the right bike. With a hardtail - or even better a full rigid ride - there's a lot more fun/challenge, and you won't raise any eyebrows because chances are you're rarely topping 13mph. (It also makes the climb easier.) I like taking my old Schwinn klunker on skinny 27.5s up there - that feels about right on most of the side trails.
@@McGowJobs yeah that sounds about right. This bikes a little tough to climb with but it’s all I have to ride Harmon with being non electric.
What happened? 😄
@@kahoycrafts oh nothing 😁it’s just in rough shape and was not feeling it this day. Better places to ride, it’s just “close by” so if I don’t have enough time I’ll go here just for a little cardio
As I've gotten older, it's better for me with a higher bars. My back and hands don't hurt so much anymore. I am 66 Y.O
@@arnehusby1420 Heck yeah man! I’m approaching 52 and feel better than ever! Gotta keep moving! Thanks for watching. The Riser bars are a game changer!
Did you download a recent firmware upgrade to your ebike?
Not to the bike but to the AXS component, would that effect it?
@@SimplePleasuresMTB i wouldnt think that would have an impact. Lookn forward to seeing how this pans out 👍👍🇺🇸
One thing I noticed on the display after the 550 error went away was that the heaflight icon was off. Some say that the light plug/port typically throws this code if moisture gets in. Just wanted to point that out because I forgot to mention in the video. Thanks Everyone for watching! I appreciate it👍🏻

downduro 12 speed Is there any?
I built this. It came with a 10 speed but smaller downhill cassette, not good for climbing. I made this for an all around enduro bike, a do it all mountain bike. I like it more than my ebike
@@SimplePleasuresMTB my bike (patrol 871) uses shimano saint, sprocket i used xt m771 (10speed/32t) is that good for downhill bro??
550 is usual water/moisture inside motor
I hope it’s just a plug or the rear wheel sensor.
Do you know of a company that can rebuild a Sondors LX Bafang M620? Mine is recently broken.
You can order parts from www.greenbikekit.com just put in m620 in the search bar and they have everything to completely rebuild the motor
Nice ride good luck with the air 550. I’m sure you’re gonna figure it out.
Nice upgrade! I recently installed a 203 mm rear rotor on my Spectral and am really happy with it so far. Plastic tire levers work great for spreading the calipers too.
Thanks for the video. Do you know where I can get the ring that those pawls engage with? I think it's called a ratchet ring.
www.greenbikekit.com/bafang-8fun-spare-parts/ultra-m620-motor-pawl-clutch-finger-freewheel.html
Awesome rotors
Yeah, i don't know about Sondors, that looks like a hub from a huffy beach cruiser on an electric mountain bike? Wt?
Yeah I have no idea who makes them, definitely Chinese but no markings on them.
I like ghost pedaling down hill, keep the bike going a steady 20mph ish, but barely using any power.
Part of my weekly go to loop with it being so close to my house. Park at the camp grounds, up overlook, down Guadalasca, over and up the fireroad to the old water tower, back down Sinombre and foxes and back to the fire road to the camp ground. 18 miles of pure fun.
@@Acill I park on the beach and ride in usually, but yeah, you can get that 18+ miles in no problem 😎It’s a great/beautiful trail system. Thanks for watching
What if id been on a horse haha so your allowed to ride a big horse but he cant ride a 20kg mtb on the trail hahaha silly cow thinks she owns the river
This is so dumb. I thought you were going to show me some tips.
Bikes 80lbs does it have an anchor. My rig is 52 lbs & it does everything very well.
I have a Trek Rail now, 51 lbs. it’s like a Ferrari compared to a F350 Diesel.
Those machines are closer to motorbikes than mechanical bikes. Good for pensioners and the disabled, but destructive to cycling as a whole. And ugly like hell...
It’s gorgeous wtf
Any idea about the spoke tension for duroc 35 rim?
I still have the rim but I haven’t a spoke tensioner gauge so I don’t know. I never needed to adjust the spoke tension though even on a heavy ebike, wheel is built very well.
@@SimplePleasuresMTB oh okay, I recently built a wheel with D35, I have problem looking for info on the net, not mentioned on the specs. Thanks for the response. I'm scouring forums for info 😁 cheers!
60 mm is not 4” it’s 2.36”
Yeah I realized that after I put out the video…thanks. I’m not hip to the metric system 😉

Do you have a video with all the mods done to this bike?
@@brucevous1 yes, well I have several videos on putting parts on as I got them. I did everything to this bike. The only stock parts that were left were the frame, motor and battery. Everything else I upgraded.
@@brucevous1 just type in “Sondors Rockstar with all the upgrades” and you can see my progress from part to part replacement. ua-cam.com/video/rd49OIg1OOs/v-deo.htmlsi=1vEbfR2WzrAm8k-6
@@brucevous1 this shows what I did, but there’s more in depth of how I installed parts ua-cam.com/video/evERb2em5vU/v-deo.htmlsi=9rVixdIK69fhZEs6
That is a sealed cartridge bearing, why can't the bearings simply be R&Rd?
@@eformance you probably could but these hubs are notorious for the inner teeth where the free hub pawls engage, getting destroyed by the torque of these 750w motors. The bike weighs over 80 lbs. Once the teeth go on the inner hub, they are not removable, (I’ve tried with the tool). It’s just a throwaway in my opinion and not worth fixing. The hubs also run 36 spokes that are 12g thickness and is a 12x257. Rims are also very soft. I have 3 hanging up that are damaged beyond repair just from riding trails. It’s best to replace with a wheel that’s repairable, has a good reputation, has more common sizes, spoke, size and a strong hoop. Plus the Raceface has a lifetime warranty.
@@SimplePleasuresMTB I see your point. These hubs (the freewheel specifically) look exactly like the Formula 32 hubs I have. I literally just replaced the freehub today, so it's fresh in my memory. Surprisingly, the new FH was steel instead of aluminum, which is a plus because I replaced the FH due to the splines being abused. This is on an 11yo Cannondale that had an 11-36t cassette and it looked like a FH that had been beat up by an eMTB! FWIW, this is a 10s FH, the alloy part is FH-502 and the steel is FH-501. The FH-501 is called out for all Formula hubs used by Cannondale, so I assume if 1 part covers all, this design must be pretty ubiquitous.
Yeah the Sondors Rockstar…I was lucky enough to be “sponsored” by them and they gave me a bike to pretty much showcase what it was built to do. I asked out of respect (Storm Sondors the owner) if he would mind if I built the bike with quality parts. I basically changed everything but the frame, motor and electronics because it just wasn’t built with quality components to handle some serious mountain biking trails. My channel was basically me changing everything on this bike and putting it through the wringer 😎 Plus it being 80 lbs. we were going through drivetrains like crazy. Had a guy making me DT Swiss clone hubs with the ratchet design that worked great, better than the 3 pawl design. I even tried the Bear Pawls 6 pawl Free Hub that worked well, but the Ratchet design was best for this bike.
i def had this on my ebike. i also had another issue where the cassette on my backwheel would spin occasionally while not pedalling. I think it was related to the ghost pedaling. unfortunately i have broken my thru bolt screw.. so i had to take a hammer and knock on the cassette a bit, and it seem to work ok. also fixed the ghost action on my shimano motor
first thought, clean and oil the freewheel...
exorcise the bike
Great video. I have for sale a new in box superboost NukeProof rim for the rockstar. If anyone is interested.
@@peterthomson6161 nice dude!
Wonder if it's the same problem as my Rockstar. No pedal assist but have throttle. Now can't even use it because the rear wheel wobbles.
Could be, check your pick up sensor on the rear spoke in relation to the magnet, make sure magnet is clean. Also check all wire connections to display, brake cut off sensor wires, try removing and reinstalling battery. If the throttle is working, but you can’t pedal it, the pawls in the free hub are probably toast. This is a very common problem with the Rockstar. I have other videos covering that issue as well. Throttle just drives the motor so most likely hub or pawls. Probably need to replace the rear wheel unfortunately.

What are the e-bike brands you like
I only know a few but I love my Trek Rail, plenty of power, feels really comfortable, works excellent. Specialized is good, different feel of the Brose motor, but great bikes.
Funny that I came across your channel. Born and raised in VTA now living in Austin. I picked up a trek rail about four months ago and I’m quickly finding the limitations of the rear shock in this chunky lime stone out here. How is that coil shock?
It’s great! It came with a 450 lb spring that was a little soft so I went up to a 500. I don’t even think about it now. Once I set it up going by Fox suspension suggested settings it’s awesome. Springs are pretty cheap, $37 I think on JensonUSA.com do you miss VTA? and thanks watching and commenting 🤙🏻
@@SimplePleasuresMTB Thanks! I’m still on the fence about coil vs air shock but it seems like coil shocks are favored on these heavy ass emtb. Man, I miss VTA. My emtb is the only thing keeping me sane.
1:54 i feel you man 😭😭😂😂
0:50 I was about to click off until you insulted me about my attention span.

Great Ride Doug I've run 50 psi before it was terrifying but I was on tarmac and rode faster than I've ridden before! Apparently Sam Pilgrim rides with 50 psi but for me on softer terrain 30psi rear 26psi front is my usual preference 👍😜👊
@@rogereheadbyrne4790 nice! Yeah I liked it, still had control and rolling was noticeably faster.
I had the same problems.. Use the soapy water method, it will fix the problem 😉 The Maxxis tyres are the greatest, just use soap+water, once or twice and problem is solved .
I do the same thing, except i use my on-board air in my jeep. I just hose it off while its on my bike carrier and then dry it off with my compressor. EZ-PZ.
Air dry on the way home👍🏻
What’s the rise on the bar?
This one is 60mm
Know everything I need to know about this guy by how inappropriately he handles that snap ring. Both using a set of internal snap ring pliers on an external snap ring ( notice he was pulling the handles apart instead of squeezing them) and then tapping it off the final bit with a hammer and flat tip. His very first snap ring maybe? Hope he wears eye protection at all times coz he's a danger to himself. Notice what he says when the snap ring flies off.... Not an experienced mechanic if a mechanic at all.
How do you plan to open up the motor without removing it? The mounting bolt go through the cover.
@@RiteMau I don’t think you can. It was just a thought. It’s not difficult. Also easier to work on a bench
I’d be more impressed if the grouped up riders acted like they are sharing the trail and rode single file, rather than 2-3 riders shoulder to shoulder. Kind of pompous of them 😂
classic Karren interaction. lol
